This game is too big, I keep feeling overwhelmed with stuff to do, trying to only do things that look worthwhile

My advice is stick to the "Odyssey" (main story) quests and do whatever gold exclamation mark (regional, Alkibiades/Hippokrates/Sokrates) quests you come across that seem interesting.

Ignore everything else, or at least don't go out of your way to complete them.

I got bayek but it's hard to know if he is fighting with me since I use the crew that looks like him

Just got to kythera to hunt the last animal, by Gods the game became a breeze as soon as I hit lvl50. I turned the difficulty up to nightmare and walk around with 5 bounty level just to have some sort of challenge. It's nice that even the chumpier mercenaries are spawning lvl45+ though, would suck to have a bunch of lvl10 ants coming after you

I had no trouble with Evie, but Bayek just won't show up in my ship. I "bought" him in the Uplay app, and he shows up as "Owned" in-game, but he ain't on my boat. This is on Xbox One.

Same here. Evie and Bayek show as owned in the in game store, but I can't actually use them in any way. I am on Xbox. Any fix?

So I just finished, and now I'm trying to figure out which ones I need to wrap things up.

Got the whole family back together, so that was good.

For the Cult ending, I just couldn't bring myself to take out the last person. Yeah, she might have been "The Leader," but really with Deimos calling the shots and how it did seem like it was never the intention of her killing her husband and having him replaced with someone worse, I let her walk.

As for the Spartan buddy guy, he got killed. I guess I shouldn't have had him get killed by a whole bunch of women in public I guess since that was the start of his downfall even though I tried to spare the other guy (but because of the aforementioned, he insisted on fighting a losing battle) and how I even went over to help him, that he got axed off with a spear through the head)

Kind of in hopes that there are no "Specific" achievements I may have missed, but I suppose I wouldn't mind too much since I can play not as Alexios during a 2nd run. Overall, I still enjoyed it.

Yeah, you don't really need to have a hunter build. But yes, you need to start the fight by shooting them far enough to avoid triggering the dialogue and then quickly kill them before they kill the couple.

What I did was upgrade the chain kill assassination so you can kill 3 immediately and the trick is to kill them without getting the couple caught in between. They were wounded but they both made it. Took a few tries

How are your guys' photos doing? I'm still stuck at 3 likes spread over a hundred pictures total. Meanwhile I was just scanning my own map for other people's pictures and I came across one guy twice with two completely run-of-the-mill pictures. The first one had 130 likes, the second 3050.

I don't get it.
Lol I have 3 likes over about 100 pics as well, I don't get it because I got some pretty decent ones, algorithm is messed up

Question for anyone who's finished the game: After finishing the family storyline, is it best to then wrap up the first civ storyline or hunt all the cultists first? Or does it not matter?

Just recorded another example of taking out a fort completely via assassinations, this time without any alerts. I was level 35 and completely assassin spec'ed while the enemies were all level 36. All but one person was one-shot: that exception was silently two-shot. Ikaros' harrass and Shadow of Nyx both came in handy. I feel so overpowered, and it's great!

I am really trying to finish this game before Red Dead tomorrow night. If I just finished the blockade mission where you have to kill the three ships, how much longer till I am done with the main story? Feels like I am getting close.

I'm so weird. I just spent several minutes looking at a bunch of rugs. Ubisoft has some very talented environmental artists. There was a carpet in Origins that I would have paid good money for in real life. I would always stop and look at it when I saw it.

This is obviously edited. Everyone knows you can't play as an assassin in this game.

Good thing I checked the Message Board in Phokis. I thought the epic ship quest was this week's orichalcum quest, but apparently there's another, conventional one.

I continue to do them, because so far the Olympian Shop hasn't blessed me with Pegasos. Got a Gilded Scythe and a Persian Warrior chestplate this time. Whooooooooooooo

Maybe I'm just paranoid and salty because mine aren't getting liked, but I feel like the current system favors already popular photos over new and unrated ones. It makes sense because the game wants share with you the cream of the crop. Except in reality they're not the most liked because they are the best, but because they are the only ones the game shares. It's like an inverted vicious cycle.

I may be completely wrong, though.

Whatever the Paros blockade is. Really? 20 hours? Are you critical path or doing side stuff? I have the XP booster and have been largely crit path.

I've mostly started doing critical path and side missions that are in the local area of the main quests. I think I've been spending a lot of time hunting down cultists too. So if you ignore the side quests and cultists you could probably get where I am in another maybe 5 hours..

Seems like a lot of work. On Nightmare, I prefer walking through the front gate, headshotting everyone and be done in about 1 minute.

Where I am feels like it might be setting up the end but it could just be another like, main story encounter like the end of the Athens storyline before I have to visit more high level islands. There's a whole.. like top right corner of the game that I haven't even explored yet.

Edit: It says a lot about the amount of content in this game that I'm about to hit 50 finally and I'm not even done with the main storyline and there's about at least a dozen side quests waiting for me on the islands that I've visited.

Finished the family story.
It went about as well as I could have hoped! Brasidas died (wasn't close to him anyway and he got pissy with me at the end) and Deimos turned good. Now I have Alexios, Myrrine, my lover and Barnabas's lover as my lieutenants in one big happy boat family.

Now off to the high seas to finish off the cultists and the mythical beasts.

Yeah I have a similar issue, had no problem with Evie, but Bayek will not show up for me in the game. I'm on PS4 here.

It doesn't really matter, but I feel like it works better if you finish the cultists first and then the first civ story.

On normal, and I enjoy the challenge of not being seen while silently taking everyone down. If I tried to kill them head-on while spec'ed and geared assassin, it would take a lot longer with far more risk of dying, particularly because I'd attract a whole bunch of mercs as well.

Having said that, I just one-shot a level 40 brute-type merc at level 36. It helped that she was weak against assasinations however.

I did the Cultist, then the 1st Civ story line only because I spoiled the Cultist ending. The 1st Civ ending was amazing.

I'm glad I finished it before Friday. I have two more achievements to go before I complete everything. Under water locations and 20 War Contracts, etc.

Oh man, I almost one-shot the flame-hammer level 46 merc at level 37 and then I took her down while getting ambushed by a level 37 merc that joined the fight. Got them both and recorded it! Total fight time: 2:04. I think that I'm doing so much damage on my assassinations because you can crit your critical assassination: I have +26% crit chance at full health, +70% crit damage, and 57218 assassin damage. [Edit] My opening critical assassination did 297,103 damage!

i don't remember you being so bothered with the tons of "assassination is useless enemies are HP sponges its impossible to kill anyone a level above you" posts
This. I'm trying to show that assassination is actually pretty powerful contrary to a lot of posts here stating that it's pretty useless. Also that fights shouldn't take 5+ minutes.

How the heck am I supposed to kill sharks? I just got a quest that wants me to go out and hunt a few.

Also I don't really understand the whole hunter /assassin /warrior damage split. Does the game want me to focus on one ability tree /gear damage buff type? What if I want to just go pure huge melee damage build? I've been going pure assassin so far and I see my warrior damage is shit compared to the assassin damage on the inventory screen. So why would I ever take warrior abilities?

Sharks are easiest to kill with arrows if they're close to the surface.

If you have to go deep you can just avoid them. They might take a bite out of your every so often but just keep swimming. I think I've been able to avoid most shark battles by just grabbing what I need quickly and then swim straight for the surface.

You can pick whatever combination of abilities you want. I personally feel a hybrid build is best, just so you have options available to you when one approach doesn't work. That said, solely focusing on one tree, when properly played, is absolutely viable.

As for the Assassin vs. Warrior thing: The Assassin tree deals damage through three abilities.

- Regular assassination (can later be upgraded to Critical Assassination)
- Rush Assassination
- Hero Strike

Only the last one can be used at any time, although it has a relatively long cooldown. The former two can only be activated out of combat when an enemy has't fully spotted you. In other words: assassins deal huge damage, yes, but it's all centered in one strike that can't be thrown around willy-nilly. There's lot of risk involved with the Assassin tree, especially early in the game. A botched assassination can potentially lead to an entire fort or camp learning of your location. If you solely focus on the Assassin tree you won't have any means of dealing with that situation aside from throwing a flash bomb and hoping you can find a place to hide in the +/- 7 seconds it gives you.

A Warrior deals much less damage with each hit, sure, but they are more than able to make up for it with survivability, multiple damage dealing abilities, a bit of crowd control, a healing skill, a skill that buffs their damage and makes them temporarily unkillable, etc. Most of the damaging abilties have short cooldowns as well. So if you want to go pure melee and big damage, you certainly can.

In other words, "assassin damage" literally refers only to damage by assassination and abilities that explicitly refer to it. It has nothing to do with normal melee combat damage. That's all I needed to know really. So why the hell didn't they just call it "assassination damage?"

Most if the time I'm successful in going for stealth assassination, even in areas with tons of enemies, but the odd mercenary takes more hits after an assassination. Good to know putting all my gear towards assassin damage is doing fuck all for me when I have to engage in non-stealth combat.

Regarding Aspasias
I'm on chapter 7 and it feels like she is the Ghost or at least part of the cult please dont tell me tho haha. I got a most of the cult defeated already outside of probably story related ones but the description on the ghost as well as the evidence feels like her. And she's on every suspicious location which is cult related

Beat the game twice, 146 hours of playtime, I think I'm done for now. Really looking forward to the DLC but I need a break and now is a good time for it.

If I'm not feeling Red Dead I'm starting a Nightmare Mode no HUD/No fast travel role playing as Asshole Alexios file.

Check the islands if they are grey. Check if you have valley of the kings. Check the island on the lower right side of the map since they have the same colors when fogged or unfogged.

Myself miss an island that I didn't set foot on but you can easily notice since it's fogged

Well my plan of completing everything first before starting the game has backfired. The Birds of a Feather quest from Xenia won't trigger, and looking online I'm screwed.

It auto completed two quests when I paid her, which may have affected things, and after doing the three sidequests in the area, nothing happens.

Looks like Red Dead is coming out just in time, so hopefully there's a patch and I can continue on later.

I mainly just use Hunter tree: Sixth Sense, Archery Master and Devastating Shot. Warrior Tree: Second Wind and Gear Master. Plus, Fire or Poison Mastery. I prefer Fire for higher damage.

Bow must engraved Basic Arrows Becomes Fire Arrows or Poison Arrows.

On all gears, stack Fire or Poison Dam > Headshot Dam > Hunter Dam > Crit Dam > others.

Prepare to be OP. On Nightmare difficulty using stacked out Lvl 50 epic gear, regular charged headshots do ~150K while Devastating Shots do upto 1.1million.

This game is .... weird, rarely does a game lets me just run around and do stuff, even if there are level gates. Instead of doing The Welcome To Athens main mission, I got bored and decided to jump on to one of the small islands in the east. Fast forward 50 to 63 hours, and I did most of the islands in east and Krete down south, and by the time I returned I was level Level 44. Without doing any spoilers I have to say this is probably one of the most non-linear games I experienced in my life. Some of the content is repetitive, but even those are fun, especially the forts that needs to be taken.

Assassin skill tree is viable, there is even a weapon (engravement) that gives you 100% damage, but reduces your health to 25% - with that plus the skill that lets you do more damage at night it becomes a blood bath.

Quick question though, if you slaughter a lot of Mercenaries, do they stop coming after you? I'm tier 1, and have a level 5 red alert on me, but no mercenary is trying to kill me now, which is odd.

Did the family ending and the Cult of Kosmos ending last night... well that was underwhelming. Maybe the Atlantis ending will be better but I don't have high hopes.

Familly ending: Just a 30 sec cut-scene of the family eating each other, a lame talk with barabas and then a little dialogue with Sokrates? Did they run out of time?

Cult of Kosmos ending: Kassandra acting like it's a surprise about Aspasia make me thing that the cut-scene was made before creating the whole Cultist system and thus she was supposed to only be revealed like this and not by collecting clues from Cultist sage. And seriously her reasoning was super bad. Like "oh yeah I was the leader, but you know, there will be another organization in the future so I don't have to do anything anymore. I let you do what you want, don't care ciao!".
