Everyone im this thread peddling this idea that black people need to censor their use of the word nigga.

Nigga please. Thread isn't about lecturing black people, fucking stop.

Etika can say and act however the fuck he wants. Dude doesn't need to become a different person to placate stupid people.

Like for real, I completely respect the choice you make if you're black and dislike the use of nigga regardless of the context but you still have to respect the rest of the black community and their choice of whether they do or don't use it.

I didn't ask you for a fucking lecture nigga

Twitter/Youtube are run by the type of people that shouldn't be policing this shit to begin with since they don't have the slightest fucking clue. Fuck Twitter/Youtube.

Being banned on anything for using the n word as a black person is fucked up no matter what. Meanwhile you have so many others spouting hate speech but because it didn't use any words that trigger any algorithms they fly by the radar like nothing.

It doesn't take a black person to highlight how he's excessively used the word for YEARS for shock value as apart of his streaming personality. But again, he should have the right to use the word however he feels. Let him continue to sound stupid and attention seeking doing it. Inconsistent moderation because he has a lot of subs isn't exactly fair.

It just means that your first post in nearly two months was to tell black people to stop using the n word and that telling black people to stop using the n word makes up a significant proportion of your contributions to the site.

Twitter is a cesspool of hate and I have no idea how they go around banning people while others give out vague statements to incite violence.
Are they now banning everyone who uses the N-word in any context?

I mean, I don't think anyone ever should be listening to someone say that. *shrug*

Dunno why you're even jokingly defending him then.

Not if he wants to be on YouTube or Twitch, it seems.

Which highlights how youtube and twitch are trash. It's simple, no one out here should be telling black people how to conduct themselves in regards to the word nigga. Especially not some weak ass corporations that leave up thousands of videos and tweets using it.

No one asked you how you feel about him. I asked the user if he's black. Are you black? Answer that question. That's really the only question that I'm interested in hearing answered if you out hear saying the dude sounds dumb saying it.

There's a ridiculous amount of white people who don't understand context when using the n-word and how that's drastically different than a non-Black person using the word.

I must admit that I don't quite understand it.
How could I? I am living in the cesspool of Europe and there are no black people here, except for the basketball players. My people did not have slaves and did not have colonies like the most European countries did.

I know that I get really uncomfortable when this kind of things gets discussed because I just don't get it.
There are several local variants of the N word and the words even sound awful. These words are used a lot, but they are not always used hatefully. Some people just don't know better. The acceptable word is literally translated to "a black person".

It's weird that people get offended by someone using the N word in that context, but whatever, that's the shit world we live in.

I have to say though, Etika always comes off as a raving lunatic in my opinion. If you came across someone behaving the way he does on the streets you'd call a fucking ambulance.
It's the personality he's cultivated and people clearly like that. Not really my jam though he comes off as fake to me.

This thread isn't the time or place for me to say all I want to say, so I'll leave it at this; Shaming black people for saying nigga is a bad look, period. Even if you yourself are black, don't put your own people down. That "nobody should be able to say it" nonsense is the same argument bigots use, don't miss the plot.

Someone on his facebook commented that he was acting strange/like a goof on twitter leading up to his ban. Led some to believe that he got hacked and apparently was reported as such. Not sure if that's accurate. Don't think Twitter would serve him a ban citing a specific tweet, but instead lock his account if they suspected a hack.

Yeah that was a dumb move on my part, this is just the third thread I see people claiming post counts and I was teasing it, ignoring the more pressing issue the thread was addressing.

Threads like this and the GOG thread are why gaming side is trash on social issues. Some of these takes, yall fucking serious.

Twitter bans a black dude for saying nigga. A platform that leaves up threats, extremely graphic videos, allows harassment of its users and has thousands of tweets using the word.

But yall are here to lecture a black dude and black people as a whole about their use of the word nigga. Great priorities.

I would say it's unbelivieable but its actually just another day on gaming side.

Count me among the folks who'd rather see no one using the word. To me it's just a sign of bad manners, like going to a formal event in a soiled and torn T-shirt.

Yes, I'm black and been subbed for Etika for awhile. So I know how he acts and talks in his videos and streams over a long period of time and he know the type of attention he gets by his usage of the word.

The n-word in context can mean so many different things that it's difficult to sum it up succinctly. Sometimes it's used as a form of endearment, and other times it's simply used to as an interjection or in exclamation to another person. So it's mostly not used in a negative context among black people.

How can you be sure a dude from brooklyn using the n word is trying to shock and awe people opposed to expressing himself how he wants. Personalities evolve and change over time. Where as when he started he may have been more reserved? As he became comfortable he may have loosened up.

If you watch people new to streaming this is pretty common. To say dude is out here pandering is unfair and to say his use of the n word makes him sound dumb and lazy like the other dude is some down right coded words bullshit

???? What could I have said that you didn't deserve? Its possible to research and understand why shit is the way it is. I'm fucking white, I grew up in a conservative small town that was completely white. I learned. I figured it out. Why can't you?

Oh wait, it's the "I'm a white european, we didn't have slaves, english isn't my first language" defense. That doesn't stop you from adapting your thinking to fit the oppressed. Watch videos. interviews. directly from the source. read, read, read.

It isn't hard.

I'm white and European, but just from observation:
- N***er -> Extremelly offensive insult, equivalent of calling a gay person a f****t.
- N***a -> Term of endearment among black people (the recipient may not be black, but the speaker definitely must).

The point is that it's a term that black people are defanging by reclaiming it. This is a pretty effective tactic, and one that, for example, sexually active women are also using against the sexist double-standard about promiscuity, by reclaiming "slut".

It follows that, by dictating what black people can or cannot say, they're being effectively deprived of a way to defend themselves, and policed about how they want to refer to each other, which obviously depowers them. Some people do it out of ignorance ("I think nobody should say the word because it's hate speech"); others (hopefully none or a minority in this forum) are clearly aware of what they're doing.

I'm not saying he's cooning if that's what you're getting at. I'm just pointing out I've notice the ramp of up his personality over the years (including his usage of the n-word) and have seen his comment sections on his videos knowing there's non-black people feeling they have permission to engage with the n-word the ways he does and that aspect that really bothered me over time. I don't expect him to be something he's not, but just pointing out it's a thing while having a larger discussion of whether censorship of black stream/social media personalities using the n-word is okay.

I would never shame another black person for this or anything else if I'm being honest. And maybe it is because I am old now and that word bothers me in a way that it doesn't seem to bother younger black people but it is my opinion that the word needs to die for everybody. I'm not blaming black people I am simply saying that the word needs to die. I understand that bigots also say "nobody should be able to say it" but they are not saying that in the same way that I am. They want to be able to dehumanize me & people that look like me with impunity. I want the word to be completely removed from all creation.

I don't think that I need a defense. Why would I?
I don't hate on anyone, nor attacking the other posters.
But somehow, of all the people posting here (some even asking black people to censor the use of the word), you decided to attack me.
And I am nothing like the guy from your posts.

The point is that it's a term that black people are defanging by reclaiming it. This is a pretty effective tactic, and one that, for example, sexually active women are also using against the sexist double-standard about promiscuity, by reclaiming "slut".

Yes, I get that that is the idea behind it. However, I still get uncomfortable if gay friends call themselves the F word, for example. But that is on me.
