Honestly that leak with saying Monster Hunter was cut is wild to me. Like how could you get the rights to a third party and not finish it?
Nope. They feel that they don't have enough evidence to cover it.
I really wish she made it in. I think she deserves a spot and dk needs more representation.
Pokemon as DLC actually seems like easy guaranteed DLC sales that could reasonably sell more copies of the game. I wouldn't be surprised if Mewtwo performed exceptionally well last time and with the return of Squirtle/Ivysaur/Pichu that kinda fills the void in the base roster.
Looking at that arm band, you can't really see the ground. Leading me to even more believe that Nintendo couldn't care less about the shadows for this particular project and so they didn't bother.

This feels like the pattern taken by the August direct. We got nothing in July only to get a massive info dump the next month. We get one char in September and nothing in October (so far) only to get a humongous info dump in November. I'm getting goosebumps.
If the cut character thing is true, I can totally see Dixie and Monster Hunter making it. I could see Octolings and Malos as echoes too, if DLC echoes is a thing.
Thinking more about it. What if the image is intentionally blurry to try to cover his ass but just like his lazy ass censoring of his name it just didn't work?
There could be a number of reasons. We don't know the details of Capcom's contract with Nintendo. For all we know they gave Nintendo a blanket access to all of their properties. Or maybe they decided to keep MonHun as DLC knowing it would sell like hotcakes (which isn't a Sakurai thing to do, but who knows the details).
No Pokemon in the base roster makes sense when, outside of Inkling (who's too big to skip) and Isabelle (who's a semi-clone), all of the new characters are old fan favorites (Ridley, K. Rool, Isaac, Banjo) and obscure weirdos (Chorus Kids, Mach Rider, Geno).
New Pokemon, new Fire Emblem, ARMS, Xenoblade - "relevant" and way more lucrative as DLC, I think than, more niche stuff. Even the third parties are pretty low-key, just Echoes, Simon, and Geno. Saving Monster Hunter and Sora/Erdrick/Whoever for DLC is a much smarter bet.

I can think of a lot of echoes that should've or could've made it. Birdo on Yoshi, Dry Bowser for Bowser, Blood Falcon on Capt Falcon, Big boss on Snake ect.
Tbh when echoes were announced I thought it'd be an easy way to push the roster close to 100 characters. The way theyve gone about picking them is both obvious yet bizarre to me. I'm assuming if they had a more development time characters like Felix would eventually get in. But regardless, I thought the echoes thing would get more padded out than it eventually did.

Ms. Pacman's weird ass history just makes her more interesting IMO. She was a weird feminist icon when she debuted too. And most people like her games better than Pac Man. As an easy echo, she seems worthy of a slot.

I'm a Birdo fangirl. Birdo is more relevant than Geno, even. Do I think Birdo is an inevitable pick that deserves a slot? Fuck no. I hope and dream, but know she's got no chance. Your guy has a chance ONLY because a certain loud portion of the fanbase has been on about him. If geno gets init will be solely on the shoulders of that fact alone. That is what makes him (not you) gratuitous fanservice.
And unlike K.Rool, who is a longstanding villain of a bestselling game from Nintendo's history, nobody knows who the fuck Geno even is outside of his fanbase and a small selection of olds like me who happened to be one of the few to have played his game when it came out. And despite loving that game, I still can't name a single defining feature of Geno's personality. He had great offense and was super useful in a boss fight. That's why people like that wooden-ass puppet.
Even without this leak, I think MonHun DLC is likely just because of Rathalos and the stage.

For what it's worth, Birdo absolutely should've had a better representation in Smash other than a random stage hazard. I feel ya there.
Based on the pace of characters added to the blog (2-4 a week, average of 3), it was figured out that at that pace, there's around 5-8 more characters if they don't slow down or speed up the pace of character blog posts.
People noticed a pattern with how many fighters they've put out per week generally averaging around 3.
So by applying this pattern of having 3 fighter posts per week were able to get an approximation of how many fighters are left.
