Morning beautiful people. Let us know on which platform you are most likely to get Control when it launches in 2019 :)

https://twitter.com/ControlRemedy/status/1030948702138101761

Undecided if i am going to get Control yet. Too many games and too little time to play them :(

However everything about Control has looked impressive (even if i still have no idea what it actually is... It looks like a Roguelike Metroidvania hybrid with a heavy dose of Mass Effect and your typical remedy horror/noir sheen. However that sentence is just incoherent)

If i do get around to playing it, It will probably be on my laptop (PC) due to the portability.

hi everyone, back from showing control to press at gamescom! it was a great three days but we're exhausted in the best possible way.

I'm assuming that shit was altering between the pistol and a shotgun? The spread of the floating particles nearest to the screen kinda conveyed that to me OR that it could possibly be a bow type variation. Game is looking great.
you're assuming right!! the service weapon has several different forms.

good! we showed a hands-off demo of control in the trade area, and the interest was overwhelming :D the demos were overbooked pretty much from the start of the event, we had a lot of requests to fit just one more person in (and just one more, and just one more...) and with some very expert schedule wrangling and help from the wonderful pr people at 505 games, we managed to have almost everyone who wanted to see the demo in the room.

from everything I've gathered, the overall vibe and impressions from press and devs and fans were much like at e3 - overwhelming positivity and awe. which is very lovely to hear! probably the one outstanding moment to me was when a very nice fan came up to talk to me because I was wearing a control shirt and we had a chat about the game and how much he was looking forward to it. I did some on the spot community work - as much as I could, since I was also busy demoing and gamescom is HUGE - and the feedback on that has been great and also very positive, so I hope to have more time to do more stuff like that at any future events we take control to.

Is Control intended to be a "shorter" experience than previous remedy titles? I ask because it's releasing only ~2.5 years after QB and seems to focus on one main location.

After being disappointed with Quantum Break, it's nice to see Remedy flex their creative muscles and dream up some more interesting locales and scenarios. Cautiously optimistic about this one.

Dev Diary 4 (pretty sure it's been seen by everyone at this point)

and Dev Diary 5 which just went up on the PlayStation YouTube channel. This is the version we showed at the panel. We'll be publishing a longer version of the 5th Dev Diary next week on our YouTube channel ---> http://bit.ly/ControlRemedyYT

Curious to know what you guys think of this :) Keep in mind it's work in progress material.

That looks pretty cool! I'm curious to know how that works out from a model standpoint. Is it a skeleton that has defined limits as to how far each part of the face can move or is it something completely different?

Disclaimer: I am not a dev :P So this is what the folks at Remedy who are developing the game told me:

What you are seeing in the first part of the video is a 3D mesh which is the structural build of a 3D model consisting of polygons. 3D meshes use reference points in X, Y and Z axes to define shapes with height, width and depth. What we mean by wrinkle training is that the character tech team is "training" the mesh to go from one facial expression to another. So that video is basically Jesse's head mesh.

Hope that address your question Dest.

Yeah, it certainly does. I appreciate you going out of your way to get an answer for me.
The technical side of things has always interested me, so I'm trying, whenever an opportunity arises, to learn more about how these sorts of things work. Quantum Break was gorgeous, and Control looks to be even more so, so it's really got my attention.

Not related to the game itself, but thank you to the Remedy folks for directing me towards Annihilation back when the game was first announced. Just finished the whole Southern Reach trilogy and while I have a big WTF feeling after Acceptance, I can safely say I enjoyed the ride. :-P

Looks good but weird. The way it deforms it's almost like the jaw is made from rubber and disconnected from the rest of the skull. It stretches too far down and it goes from round when the mouth is open to squared off when it's shut.

Oh god, is that stuff an influence on Control?
