The "cuts" were from a 4chan post that, coincidentally or not, had the same roster as this leak.
There is probably going to be DLC for this game, so from a marketing perspective it might be that they have a DQ character for DLC around the time of DQXI's Switch launch.
That was a separate 4chan leak awhile back. Didn't have anything to do with this image leaker.

Due to there being echo fighters Ken and Shadow seem like real possibilities. The others I am a bit suspect on especially Chorus Kids of all people.

It's a separate leak from a different person that's only being brought up because it further corroborates this one.
A foul mouthed leaker from the end of September basically infodumped the rest of the characters and it's the exact same lineup.

I'm a little disappointed because Sora would've been a much better fit for Smash than Geno, but at least fans of that character finally got their wish.

However you seem to be overlooking a very important factor in your little tirade there.
Rhythm Heaven is a Nintendo franchise. That automatically far less stupid then, oh let's be hypothetical and say someone from a series that didn't even originate from a video game.

Of course MS will have say in it too. It's hard to speculate. I'm just looking at it from the Nintendo fan who won't be watching it. Nintendo would be shunning their own fans from arguably one of the biggest reveals ever.
Banjo and Kazooie play to hearts of Nintendo fans and are hugely demanded. And to see them announced at an event that those fans won't watch feels wrong.
This is a really great group to add. Fits the aesthetic and spirit of Smash characters well, and also gives fans several that they have been dying for. And even as someone who doesn't like third party characters, as I said Banjo fits well.

Anything is fine! Most people are going to be playing with their Gamecube controllers out of tradition but a Pro controller is more than fine. You're good to go already!
Strong roster. DLC will certainly happen so there's still hope for any other character. With Banjo the calls for Master Chief will be strong, but hopefully calls for a Battletoad will be stronger. I think a Battletoad would be really good fit for smash. Also Monster Hunter still needs to happen.

If true, interested to see Mach rider moveset. Kinda wanted more reps from Yoshi and F-Zero though.
