Banjo Kazooie has significance with Nintendo's past, thus beloved by many who grew up with their system and could also be part of a deal for the upcoming Nintendo 64 Classic.

The amount of work to rearrange those characters, fill in bits of unseen artwork as well as create new art for the newcomers is insane and could have been easily foiled if there had a been a character reveal inbetween them creating this and leaking it. It's got to be real

As much as I'd love for this to be real (I'd get my Rhythm Heaven rep), it seems like a bit too many unique newcomers when we're this close to the end. You would think at least one of them would've been announced this month.

Sakurai has flirted with the idea of Mach Rider since Melee, I think. It's one of those elements that makes me think it's true.

Fairly likely, one potential explanation is that someone mocked it up and took it into their workplace, hence all the Grinch stuff. That's a lot of work to go to, though, and it doesn't explain things like the name, linkedin profile and 4chan post.
yes they specifically stretch to include the characters, that's what makes the leak more real: there isn't a blank version of the banner that'd be stretched enough to add the characters without severe editing
