Yes the social media seems positive and it is good fun to play.
And a roadmap and post-launch expectations. The design director has mentioned multiple times that he's very well aware that these types of games died off quickly if the playerbase isn't constantly being updated about what's happening with the game, so I hope they can equally focus on fixes and more content and tell us about it.Yes the social media seems positive and it is good fun to play.
Just need Bethesda to keep the beta servers running or give us a schedule.
Because lore wise they simply don't exist. They are already streching what even the Bethesda fallout games established by having certain factions in the game all the way in WV.The negativity about non human NPCs is showing up all over the internet in impressions. Why exactly did Bethesda do that again? Is there an actual good reason?
They said it was because that's the mood they were aiming for in the game. Desolate, all humans you find are players. A most likely issue is that NPCs in Bethesda games are always the backbone of the game's programming. The CPU calculates so much variables with NPCs that adding multiplayer on top of that probably just wasn't feasible in their first online game. The negativity about non human NPCs is showing up all over the internet in impressions. The thing I, unfortunately, hated the most was the building mode. It has zero, absolute zero improvements in comparison to the one in 4. You still have to walk on foot while building, no flying around. You still have the same stupid restrictions when you try to build with rocks and stuff near buy and without a 100% plain ground, stuff will always fly in the air.
The biggest disappointment was that you are really restricted with where you can place the camp. "Almost everywhere" my ass. As soon as any structure or buildings are nearby, you can't place it, not even when it's just a small metal tower, and of course not in cities, pretty disappointing.
Oh and when you move your camp, you have to replace everything again. You don't place it and everything is there again, that would be too easy you have to place everything from new.
I find myself in possession of a PS4 B.E.T.A. code (you enter it through Bethesda.net on your Beth account, I believe, not through the PlayStation).
The * is the first letter of the name of the entire location of the game. I wish I had more to give out, I feel like Bethesda should do a free B.E.T.A. at the very end. :(
Thanks for these impressions, it's exactly what I was looking for, and exactly what I was worried about. From the moment they were talking about "just move your base if someone else has your spot when log in" I was... confused as f***. Firstly because why would they make bases disappear when you log out AT ALL? That makes zero sense for group play if you and your mates are interested in building something grand together (one of Minecraft's big selling points), and doesn't make sense for server continuity either (why can't I raid other player bases when they are offline? The damage is minimal anyway). But mostly, if I have to pack up and "just move" my base because someone else has my spot when I log back in... how the hell does that work? In Fallout 4 you usually build around unique topographic features and landmarks. Buildings could be multi-tiered on cliffsides and slopes, or utilise existing structures in their design (Starlight Drive-In for example). They may be built around a unique landscape feature like Sanctuary's tree as a focal point. So... picking it up and moving never made any sense to me.
Shame to hear all of this, but I was already leaning towards waiting for an offline mode with full mod support anyway. This just cements that decision. If offline with mods never happens, then I have zero interest in the game. I wouldn't be able to cope with Fallout 4's settlement system without mods these days either.
Stupid question, is there PVP when you run into other players or is it co op? Different server types?
Wasn't it that other players can attack you but they don't start doing full damage unless you start fighting back?I haven't played the beta but I think ypu tune in to a pvp-radio station to enable it.

Yes. You see the dots on the map so you can avoid them.So did anyone try going out of their way to avoid other human players? Is it even really possible to do so? Like, can you theoretically go hours without encountering someone if you want to?

Correct.
You can't enter pvp until level 5. Even then, you can turn it off in the menu ("Pacifist mode", I think?).
There is also a "hunted vs hunted" radio station you can tune into to join a meta-pvp game where you have an 'Assassin' style target - each player who has opted in gets a target to kill from the players who have tuned in, kill your target to win.
Does the game have dungeons/instances? I haven't seen anything other than 'overworld' gameplay.
Destiny-esque strikes with set pieces would be a blast.

i think it helps that right now only the people who already knew what they were getting (and not getting) and accepted this game for it are playingImpressions are way more positive than I was expecting. Kinda intrigued.

I Have an xbox one code.
I just moved and have no internet so cant join beta. So may as well give my code away. It's an xbox one code not a Bethesda code , meaning you redeem through xbox store.
I wont post code so it wont be taken bya non reset era member, instead I'll ask a question and first one to quote me gets the PM with code.
Question: what is a Geiger counter used to detect?

Did anyone play on a standard Xbox or S? I only have a launch PS4 so intrigued to hear non-X impressions.

when the floodgates open for the general public you're going to see some slightly less positive news i believe
I don't want to be spoiled so not reading through the thread but what are you peeps thinking, good/bad?

Looks like the worst bug is the game switching off X1X's and then the console saying its overheated. Seems fairly widespread.
Oh no. Just discovered perk cards and booster packs. So perks like "lockpicking 3" are randomly generated? What if i really want/need lockpicking 3?
Are they going to sell the booster packs for real money?

That's definitely rough. They might beat out Skyrim on ps3 if they don't get that fixed.Looks like the worst bug is the game switching off X1X's and then the console saying its overheated. Seems fairly widespread.
