God damn when us this weather going to get normal? Lucky that I mowed 2 hours ago, just rained over an inch randomly. Still forecasted to rain like this for 10 more days and el Nino is forecasted for winter so that means wet and cooler.

Hello Austin-Era folks.

I'll be visiting Austin the next weekend for ACL and was wondering if you guys know of any website where they we can buy tickets for the festival? We are 4 people going on saturday, but one of them didn't buy a ticket on time and the official reselling value is outrageous. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

it's been awhile since i've been but from what i rememeber, it's best to buy these tickets as soon as they go on sale cause they go pretty quick. I'm not even entirely sure there's a way to still purchase tickets that arent' from a scalper. I could be totally wrong though, hopefully someone with better knowledge can reply.

For anyone here that lives in or has family/friends in the Marble Falls/Kingswood/Horseshoe Bay area, the local paper Daily Trib is posting evacuation notices, road closure and shelter information for the area on their Facebook page. I recommend keeping an eye on it if you or someone you know is in that area.

I can't believe the lake was only like 76% full when this all started. They're now opening more floodgates than have ever been opened.

Looks like I have to move in January. My roommate just said he has to leave, and I don't wanna go through the whole craigslist roommate search again. I may go for a one bedroom apartment this time, though I'd also be interested in finding a house. Just not quite sure what side of town - wouldn't mind going back to Hyde park (currently live near the Domain).

Anyone going to see Fidlar at Emos tomorrow night? Doors at 7. I'll probably get down there around then and pregame with a few drinks some where if anyone else will be around.

They're saying it could be for a week or more, especially if that new hurricane affects us.

Will trade unopened limited edition Spiderman PS4 Pro for 10 pack of Desani!

Looks like San Antonio is sending water this way, but I'm surprised they don't have water issues.

oh shit we're gonna be like this for a week? RIP

Just spoke with my mother who went to HEB to get some water (lol) and she said it was a madhouse. that the water aisle was completely empty. and that this HEB 18 wheeler pulled up with water and there was a hoard of people surrounding the truck. the megaphone dude was like "only 4 gallons per person" Lol shit's real. this was at the HEB off barbara jordan btw.

I was in Round Rock an hour ago and several cars were at some water store buying water from a vending machine. Not sure why as we aren't impacted at least in pflugerville.

Also heard Austin's water treatment facilities are slow due to flooding of silt so you also may just run out of water.

Uhhh...the convenience store by my house had loads of water yesterday afternoon, and no one else in there was buying any. I'm only just now reading that there was a run on the water elsewhere.

This coming week is going to suck butt. The city's never been without clean water before.

EDIT: Why don't they send a text alert about the water conservation and water boil notice stuff? It's a hell of a lot more important than Amber Alerts for 700 miles away or reminding us that a reality TV rapist nazi has the power to send messages to every American's phone simultaneously.

It really is weirdly unsettling. This normal and omnipresent part of our everyday lives, running water, has suddenly become vaguely dangerous and sinister. Like, showers used to be super relaxing, but now I have to concentrate on keeping my mouth tightly closed without opening it for a second. I hope this all gets fixed soon.

What kind of bacteria and viruses are we talking about here again? Are they fatal?

and to be clear, they're saying not to use it for ANYTHING correct (baths, showers, laundry , etc)?

I don't think they have confirmed what is in the water, but that their treatment facility is so over safety limits that the water could have bacteria and viruses. Anecdotally someone I was talking to said that got the shits after drinking tap, but I don't think that would be norovirus because that's considerably more severe and takes 2 to 3 days to recover. Norovirus rarely kills but you'll feel like you are going to because no fluids will stick. You'll vomit and shit it out.

Norovirus is extremely contagious. I don't know if laundry would do it but I wouldn't risk it.
