I mean that is about as much interaction as you have with random NPCs in Bethesda games, so still more than most open world games. In terms of complex interactions with every NPC...we are probably a couple of generations away from that...That is not what I expected at all.
You played Watch dogs 2? You could insult, pacify, flirt and tons more with any and every npc.
That level of interaction isn't really better than games like watch dogs 2 and just a bit better than the GTA V interaction. Incredible? I mean different strokes I guess tho.
What are you guys talking about?? That NPC interaction looks incredible, far far better than any open world I've ever seen. Name one open world with a better random NPC interaction, I'm talking about ''background'' level of NPCs.
That was a good game in general, by the way.You played Watch dogs 2? You could insult, pacify, flirt and tons more with any and every npc.
Yeah you got about a dozen or so different emotes/responses, it's like a weapon wheel but for interactions.Wow what? I didn't finish it but I played a lot of it. I had no fucking idea you could do that.
Super underrated .The NPCs and just threw Dy amics of the air and how you could mess with them are so good.
As mentioned in my other post: GTA San Andreas was best with with NPC interaction

lol, you expected some kind of deep branching dialogue with hundreds of NPC's? There has to be a limit to this stuff. fact is most people won't be talking to the NPC's or even replying with the one liners, they are straight to the story meat and that's that.
I'm not one of those people, and love exploring and shooting the shit with as many people as possible in my games, but there's only so much a team like Rockstar can do. You could give a random NPC hundreds of lines of dialogue, but this is a game, with a narrative, there has to be structure and background and meaning to the character for the player to be invested and even want to talk to them. it's too much work and even so it just wouldn't be good for the game.
no. i expected what was advertised and boasted about for the past 8 months. not a glorified GTAV ped buttonlol, you expected some kind of deep branching dialogue with hundreds of NPC's?

1000's of lines of dialogue was advertised, much more than that of GTAV is what the lead writer said right?.. still seems like it's going to happen. just you're not going to be able to discuss the meaning of life with a random NPC. Substantial characters I'm guessing with have a lot more to say because travelling takes a lot longer on a horse.no. i expected what was advertised and boasted about for the past 8 months. not a glorified GTAV ped button

Yes!Watch Dogs 2 is criminally underrated and arguably did tons more ped and world reactivity stuff than GTA V
i say "what was advertised over the past 8 months" and you cherry pick the 1000 lines thing from a few weeks back. im talking how conversations flow and having it feel natural. What we saw in the leaked vids was the complete opposite of that1000's of lines of dialogue was advertised, much more than that of GTAV is what the lead writer said right?.. still seems like it's going to happen. just you're not going to be able to discuss the meaning of life with a random NPC. Sorry but did you ever play GTA San Andreas? NPC's would come up to you and make comments on your appearance, you could answer back and then NPC's would still give another answer, also in if I remember in RDR it was pretty good developed
Doesn't (almost) everyone?Jesus Christ Arthur looks fucking terrible with just a moustache lol.
You own a horse? Nice. What's your take on the horse animation thus far?
You must not have liked the gameplay clip where Arthur had to put down the horse... that was surprisingly brutal.
I'm looking fine with mustache.
It was already cancelled when it was found out that there is no rope tying hunted game to the horse where the ropes magically appear
In all seriousness though, if R* didnt do their damnest to hype every aspect of the game up, this wouldnt even be an issue so the disappointment is palpable and justified.
The horse animations look fine though I would assume it must extraordinarily hard to animate horses since they do a lot of dumb stuff and look stupid while doing so. I am really interested in how the bonding will work. Obviously, too much realism is not sustainable for a video game but I landed more than once on my behind (and once in a creek) because my boy did not feel like jumping over something when I first got him. He's a good horse though. I wonder how this will work in the game.
I've only poked my head in here every now and then but you've been a consistent buzzkill from the off.
If you're disappointed in every single aspect of this game, why are you in this thread so much?

I read the previews, preordered the game and watching the videos find myself dissapointed that the NPC aspect is worse than San Andreas and Watchdogs. I understand you dont care about those things but judging from the thread it seems that its a frequently cited disappointment.

That description points to the ideal difference this RDR2 is attempting, that NPCs have personalities and react based on your past actions and other factorsYeah. You could taunt people, and also apologize, and it had gameplay implications. There were also a ton of other options, and made pretty intuitive with the radial menu.
For instance you could taunt a guard into opening a locked door to confront you, apologize before he attacked you, then stealth takedown him just as he opens the door to return and sneak through.
Worse than San Andreas? Are you even thinking about what you type, or just letting the bullshit flow?

Indeed. The world on Watch Dogs 2 was awesome.Watch Dogs 2 is criminally underrated and arguably did tons more ped and world reactivity stuff than GTA V
