Thanks for the clarification, guys. I'll admit, I was wrong. But I still think it's impressive for what is, essentially, a premium console doing so well this generation. And that goes for Pro too. There were a lot of naysayers when the first rumors of these mid-gen upgrades started spreading around. I'm just glad they were proven wrong.
Ah so the X is selling well, good it's the best console ever made. And that's coming from a man who owns all consoles.

There's a quite big paradox on this post. Nintendo conditioned the users but they're bonehead because of that when it's clear the contrary as the masses accepted it.

What do you mean? FIFA, Fortnite, Minecraft, COD? I don't know which is the best out of those but I'm sure third parties have been the best sellers for years on PlayStation.
Or do you mean exclusive game not developed internally? GTA 3 maybe.

I guess since it works it's not. It's a really shitty practice though, one I refuse to go along with if I don't think the game is worth $60. It's why I'm still waiting on mario kart, DK, bayo 2, octopath and probably a few others that escape my memory at the moment.
Bungie was still owned by Microsoft during the Halo 3 launch. They didn't buy themselves back until later that year.
If you're talking purely hardware, I'd say the Gamecube takes the cake there as you certainly can't be talking about its game lineup specifically. Gamecube was a perfectly balanced system at an amazing price, though the X is a nice piece of kit and well rounded, it's just expensive.
I am so glad Odyssey did so well after people said that it was going to crash and burn because it looked too similar to Origins, that it released a year after it and becuase the release date being in the middle of RDR2 and Spider-Man

As are Kirby, Smash Bros, Mario Tennis, Fire Emblem and other titles which are made by third party developers.
And as far as Pokémon, Nintendo is the publisher of the series on consoles along side TPC (which do everything on other media, including mobile). Beyond that, Nintendo have the copyright of it along Gamefreak and Creatures and also are the owners of the trademark.

Eh they have a fiduciary duty to make as much profit as possible. They literally are obligated to sell those games at $60 if the market will bear it.
You need to direct your anger at people who buy those games at $60 even after the games are a year old. I mean, I would love to buy Nintendo games at $19.99 3 months after release as well, but as long as loads of people are happy paying $59.99, that's not gonna happen.
Halo 3 is their most sucessfull exclusive game ever IIRC. Maybe Kinect Sports sold more? I am not sure. In any case that one was heavily bundled in the kinect craze era.
Higher than some of the other stuff closer to the bottom of the list at least.
Still, if Nintendo wants to hit the masses and stay there things will have to change at some point even if only a little. They are selling to a 20m audience right now. It's nothing compared to Sony, who has to accommodate people of all economic backgrounds. The easiest way to do that is sales because there are just too many games.

Is a more refined Origins.
There are a lot of elements in common but the story is better told, a system that evokes the AC1 feeling of hunting a target by gathering info in the world and better sidequests (from a design to writing)
80 hours in and still having tons of fun so far...
Yeah IIRC it was "the biggest entertainment launch ever" or something. I even got that $150 cat helmet edition because all other versions were sold out lol.

I wish I could be happy about my favorite RPG series being at number 11, but I'm just thinking that it didn't get enough flack for Sugiyama's (already known for years) politics.
I'm not sure how I feel about mid-gen console updates selling well to be honest. I guess the PS3 and 360 were starting to get very haggard by the end of their run with many 2013ish releases struggling to hit/maintain 30fps, so these refreshes give a bit more gas in the tank. But on the other hand, if something like the X becomes fairly dominant are dev's going to start phoning it in on the base console? I'm really in two minds about the whole thing.
I mean, do we even know what Square-Enix expected? I'm reminded of times in the past where Capcom games would sell millions of copies and then we'd find out they expected to sell like 3x as much from financial reports. :/
Does Sony even have an arcade racer developer anymore? I can't see Polyphony changing their course anytime soon.
