Holy shit pretty much everything did very well.

Spiderman setting records is great to see. I still stand by my prediction of Spiderman breaking the record for bestselling Sony published game of all time, beating out Gran Turismo 3.

Assassin's Creed continues it's comeback.

Forza having the best debut for any racing game on Xbox, so that means it had to beat out games like project gotham, Forza 3 and 4, and countless need for speed games. Very impressive feat indeed.

I think Tomb Raider did fine too. For reference, Rise didn't even make to top 10 during it's debut month, November 2015. Granted, November has much more competition, but still.

Third in the Year to Date list is the most impressive piece of data of the OP imo

They saved the heavy hitters for last. Seriously what have they even dropped this year?

You probably know what they released and even without that, google is out there if you don't remember on your mind. But I'll help with the Switch releases (not counting 3DS ofc):

New games: Kirby Star Allies, Labo Kit 1 and 2, Mario Tennis Aces, Sushi Striker, Octopath Traveler (regional pub), Labo kit 3, Super Mario Party, Pokémon Let's Go and Smash Bros Ultimate
Remasters: Bayonetta 1+2, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Hyrule Warriors, Captain Toad

I'm not sure. Spiderman is a infinitely more recognizable brand than TLoU, and the theme/settings is a lot more mature than Spidey. Being a M-rated game isn't going to help TLoU's chances either.
Well, 2 of the top 3 sellers this year are M rated and then next month it will be 4 of the top 5.

In units too? I assumed revenue because well $400 console bundle, $150 SE that were both sold out. But unit sales? It's NBA 2K. Every dude on a college campus with something that can run it is guaranteed to buy it.
The bundles aren't counted in NPD charts, and yes, leaks last week said Spider-Man was miles ahead of NBA, only physical though, Benji also said it's doing fantastic digitally.

Regarding Xbox One. Seems to be a bit of confusion. I'll try to clear it up.

The Xbox One X System 1TB Black is the best selling individual SKU.
What this means is the Xbox One X is selling really well. But from the data provided it's unclear whether the One X sold better than the S during September.
This is because there are multiple Xbox One SKU's.
So you can have multiple Xbox One S SKU's, that when added together, sell more than the Xbox One X SKU's combined. For example.

Xbox One is up overall this year anyway due to the X. It's a driver of both unit and hardware sales.

X is a great console. Interesting though that its the no.1 selling XB SKU.

Oh, ok. Fair enough. Still count the base Xbox One or just Xbox One S?

Spider-Man being the 7th highest launch on any Playstation system ever
AND
Spider-Man outselling NBA 2K19
are the stats that have me the most shook
Again, I cannot state how happy I am that this game is having so much success, mostly because I've never loved a game this much before
Again, congrats to the team at Inso, Playstation, Marvel Games, and jstevenson

I seriously dont remember. I do have a switch lol, but I'm only buying Smash Bros. (And metroid)

Yeah, I see nothing but filler there. Nothing to move consoles besides the obvious Pokemon and Smash that havent released yet

Gosh, NBA 2K19 manages to sell incredibly well for a game that has "Overwhelmingly Negative (18% positive) reviews on Steam.

Ok thanks for this. It's still pretty big news, X is definitely attributing to Xbox One growth in sales and YTD unit sales, which some were denying or trying to reframe as impact being non-existent.

I'm hoping with the CPU jump we all get more 60fps titles.

As good as SM looks on PRO it isnt far off from 4K now. So I'm assuming it can be done easily.
I dont see why they would use the extra cpu power on framerate instead of graphics, density, draw distance, etc

And I mean that for most games, not just Spider-Man

I'm just glad to know insomniac will survive. I was getting worried back when they were releasing things like ratchet and clank tower defense, all for one, fuse and sunset Ovr. bombing.
