Gearbox and "family friendly" are not things I generally associate, but good luck to him!

JOHNNY V!

Hope it goes well. Gearbox has been hit or miss for me personally.

Can't wait to see where he takes their new franchise!

How many teams does Gearbox have?
They have a Texas and Canadian branch, along with a publishing arm to work with external studios.

LinkedIn lists 338 employees.

I'm not sure who would be doing this (internal or external, and which studio). I'd guess this is external given he posted the Gearbox Publishing logo, but it could be an internal/external collab.

Maybe a mod can edit the title to specify Gearbox Publishing so that people don't get the impression it's a Gearbox-developed game.

Gearbox Publishing published games like The Banner Saga Trilogy, Burnstar, Earthfall, Hello Neighbor, We Happy Few, etc. Right now its only upcoming announced title is Subnautica.

Edit: Title has been edited thanks.

Good for him! I was always really impressed with how open and upfront with everything he was with Infinity. Can't wait for what he does next!

The most all ages man alive.

Really tho, good for him that's great to hear. Will be keeping a eye out, like me some more family friendly stuff.

Months ago, April I think he was on the 1099 podcast teasing his new gig. I wonder if this is it or if that one fell through and he's now landed at Gearbox.

I was hoping he would join Iron Galaxy. :(

Gearbox has kind of dropped of my radar since BL2, but hopefully they'll turn it around.

I remember him from the infinity days and always thought he was a good face for the series. Glad to see him back at it.

I knew Gearbox has a publishing arm. They've been trying to expand it seems recently.

If it is external, then what developer are we looking at? Is it a new studio?

Edit: thanks for the details, btw :)

Randy, 18 months from now: "Hey guys, I found a naughty subreddit for Battle Pals and shut it down! But it's good to see that fans of all ages are so engaged with the IP! Really!"

My favourite memory of this guy was at Sony's press conference 2014 I believe. Everyone and their mother was anticipating more Star Wars Battlefront if I recall, the Star Wars music began at the presser. It would finally happen.

And there he was, with Disney Infinity and Star Wars. I remember my initial dissapointment, but his passion and, well, pure hype for his own game made me love him in a heartbeat. He felt like the biggest PR person to ever live on this planet, while at the same time almost making it like a joke, like he was self aware.

My initial dissapointment turned out to be great, atleast it was better than Battlefront ever was. Which wasn't only an initial dissapointment. It was depressing.

Edit: Don't know why I wrote all of that for a man I've seen at a show once

I thought for sure the dude was working with his old team making that new Harry Potter RPG in Salt Lake City.

Whatevs, cool that we're getting another family-friendly game from a Western developer. There should be a lot more of them than just shovelware and cell phone games.

Good for Johnny V. He seems like a really genuine and honest guy (sometimes to a fault)!
