Jealousy. That's why the thread devolved into a FUD factory.
I play PS4 exclusives that interest me in my og PS4 ..having a Xbox X all the rest have no sense to play it on it.....I would just playing a subpar versions
And meanwhile i think the same as you...for me the winner of the whole package is the X having best hw best network and best services in the market (at least talk about multiplats)

I don't know about the person you quoted, but that was certainly me and a few friends of mine too. I played all third parties on PS4 2013-2016, Pro 2016-17 and X since it launched. Pro (and Switch) now used for exclusives only - luckily there are plenty of those so it still gets a lot of use.

Is there a list of Pro games with improved texture assets? I was under the impression that it was a VRAM limitation, so I'm curious to see what's on it.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider had an enhanced texture pack on Pro & One X. But as pointed out earlier, some titles like Uncharted 4, shipped with higher texture quality than most of today's latest games. It's all down to dev priorities and one of the stand out features of Sony 1st Party titles.

Which leads me to my point: if we're getting this, now, in a time where the XBX is known to be the significantly superior console (which doesn't register for certain folk), imagine next gen. Microsoft isn't playing around have explicitly stated their intentions on having the most powerful console with Scarlett. This is contrast to the Xbox One, which launched subpar performance-wise to the competition and they had to deal with the repercussions (which Sony and fans took advantage of until the XBX came out), or the Xbox 360, which since launch was touted as the weaker and less capable platform. Only the original OG Xbox was superior graphics wise (and feature wise, but that is irrelevant) but it was a new console with much less first/third party support, going up against already released popular household-named platforms.
I fully believe Microsoft is going to have the superior console again with their direction, seriousness and confidence, but even if I am wrong, the fact is that it is highly likely then to be a close race. And again, if we have these problems in threads now... imagine then. In every fucking thread. So yes, I stand by what I said.

Depends entirely on assets used, density and streaming.
Bandwidth shouldn't be a problem due mipmapping.
Virtual texturing would decouple memory use from resolution. (For most part.)
Meaning you can have huge textures on everything if you can load them fast enough and still use same amount of memory. (May not be feasible due to storage and art perspective.)
Bad thing is possibly visible texture popin.
Many games use them for terrain and create texture partially on fly by splatting lot of textures on top of other's others and reuse the result for a long time. (IE. Farcry 4, Battlefield etc.)

Realistically, Sony can't compete with the type of money MS can throw at next gen. It's highly unlikely MS will ever lose a spec console war again.
The popularity of the Wii and Kinect played a detrimental role in MS philosophy this gen, and Phil knows it. I'm sure Sony will produce a great console, but even with the success of PS4, Sony can't afford to match MS's next gen budget. Didn't MS burn a silly amount of money on controller R&D, and Kinect this gen. I think they stated the figures at some point, but they still had money to burn to release the X. Shit is real, which is great for all of us.
Of course .that's very well possible indeed .but all I was trying to tell him was we don't know yet .he was talking with such confidence like he was given the next gen sepcs.

This is one of the main games that made me purchase an X near launch. This will be a masterpiece, one of The games of this generation. I said I should be able to see every nook cranny detail texture etc that a thousand rockstar developers/personnel took 6 years to develop. Its actually 3000 workers over 8 years which is insane I need to see their work in all its glory. There will be no PC version for a very long time. So X for now is the definitive version. My PC is shit anyways. Not like it could run it better than my X even if it did release.

People will recognise that ''Y" version is better, but it will cause conflicting emotions as it's coupled with a string sense of tribalism. "Why should they have something better?" It then manifests as downplaying, hostility, defensiveness etc.
I certainly do hope that the X Version looks clearly better. I've bought a Xbox One X for this reason.
Tomb Raider looks stunning on the X. Even without zooming in and a side by side comparision the image looks way crisper/sharper. X has wonderful hardware. OS is a wonky and ugly piece of shit but the hardware is bliss.
Hopefully Rockstar hasn't tried to make both version on par resolution wise.

The framerate cost in Tomb Raider doesnt bother you? Because it really is quite disappointing. I'd go full 1080p/60fps mode in that game because of this.

Not a fan of the Read Dead series but just to see IF this thing indeed has a 4K texture pack should be hilarious.

I'm not done with the game. But so far the fps are normal.
If the fps goes down i'll look at the 1080p/60fps mode but these modes usually can't hold 60. Wonky 60 in1080 or wonky 30 in almost 4k. Not looking forward to that decision.

So nothing after all eh? At first it would have explained the larger file size on Xbox One, that is until we bought and installed it and it was 88GB on Xbox One X and actually 98GB on PS4.
We'll just have to wait and see what X has over the Pro but I assume it's just a resolution bump and they'll leave it at that.

There isnt any evidence about a texture 4k pack on the X until now. Except you can finally provide a concrete leak about it.
I know this is probably not a popular opinion, but I think they should offer preloads even for physical releases (preload code at purchase, for example).
Without getting into physical vs. digital, I don't think this would hurt anyone, but could be a benefit to many.
Especially if things like 4k texture packs are first day downloads.

Oh wow. It would be hilarious because someone here think otherwise and R hasn't provide any evidence about it? What exactly will be hilarious? It's hilarious a more expensive younger console can provide better graphic? I really don't get it. It seems just the normality to me.
88 GB is the size of the file. 107 GB is the free space required for the installation. Two different things in theory. For example ps4 digitally requires 150 GB of free space but just 90GB for the disc.
