I wasn't that surprised at all once I saw CDPR in the thread title. They are from Poland afterall, and I have experience insane levels of racism coming from them within my community. Against blacks, Asians, and anybody non-white. I think they are the most openly and causally racist people I've ever met.

You can voicevyour outrage against these tweets, without you know, calling an entire population of people bigots and racists.

I'm kinda just catching up on this won't be erased thing.....aren't they basically proposing making gender a synonym for sex again? That is pretty fucked up dude like let people do what they want man

super disappointing from CDPR, will still probably get the game if I am being honest with myself but someone there deserves to be fired 100%, I just don't know who. This is just not cool actually pretty egregious this time the "how is that for a hashtag" is the worse part that is actually just mean

Disappointing.....frankly makes me nervous about how well they handle a cyberpunk universe, maybe high fantasy was a little more their pace

So far, CDPR has:
-made 1 pro-GamerGate tweet
-made 2 transphobic tweets
-allowed a pro-GamerGate thread to exist on the GoG forums while locking less egregious threads
-featured TotalBiscuit in promotions for some of their GoG deals while giving a little wink and nod to his support of GamerGate

The problems with the company clearly go beyond one person managing a Twitter account. At the very least, their previous apologies were insincere.

I hope they do. Then they also need to ban Dragon Quest XI, the Last Night and Kingdom Come Deliverance as well as many other titles in the future. This site claims to be incredibly left leaning, and we should start owning up to that. There is no real discussion to be had about these games that are made with KEY members on the team being outed as abhorrent. Yes, I get these are sizable teams of people and no, not every last member of the team is a bad person. But when people who have a key role in making large, sweeping choices about their team's work and efforts etc; then we need to not show them support for not changing and removing them. We need to stand up for our brothers and sisters on here. Their feelings and support are more important than a game, no matter how good.

I'm just sick at this point of seeing comments like "I can separate the art from the artist", "that sucks, maybe I'll just get it on sale then", "Stop talking about that, we're trying to discuss the GAME!" and many other forms of these remarks. It's incredibly insulting to these REAL people, that discussions of these shitty people take priority over them. Once again, not saying that we need to stop talking about games in general, or anything-- damn near every form of media will have a team behind it-- but we should speak up and oust folks who have large roles on their team.
Discussing where the line is drawn in terms of your tolerance to shitty people on a team is a worthy discussion to have.
Is it enough for just 1 social media person? Maybe the lead composer? Or maybe they have to be so sizeable that the game reflects their views (ie: anti femenist rhetoric on a Sugiyama game).
It must be pretty serious to cast away the work of hundreds for just one dude, but its never black or white. Especially for stuff like Sugiyama since he often uses his money to spread his vile views.

Given that the tweets *have* been deleted / corrected each time, I find it hard to interpret these gaffs as evidence that the company is run by alt right sympathizers. You don't make a statement by consistently putting your foot in your mouth.
Sure you do.

You put out a horrible statement to let bigots know you're on their side and then put out a weak apology to get everyone else of your back. But the original targets know you're "legit".

If it was a one time instance, that'd be one thing. But it's been 3 times in less than half a year.

See if not for the last sentence, I could almost believe it was tone deaf vs just being mean as fuck for no good reason. That last sentence though makes me think ... yeah, no, whoever was doing this knew what they were taking about.

That said, I will still buy Cyberpunk, there is just no way I am going to skip that. I will certainly complain and maybe won't buy it at release but I will be honest, there is no way I will be skipping this.

However, the overall trend is going to stop me from putting more money into GoG. I used to shop there quite a lot but unlike Cyberpunk, there are alternatives.

If you can't stop yourself from buying it at least buy it second hand so they see no revenue.

so just because one person in the company did it, make the whole company racist and corrupted?
This is the second time they post a transphobic tweet. Third time they've done a GGer tweet.

Yeah, there's something rotten in the company, maybe it's just on their PR department, maybe it's on the entire company, but they surely haven't done anything to fix it so far.

Never said people need to do that, I won't take their shit either. You can't really change the values of human beings as a company when the entire culture around those people has formed them, often since birth, though. The only thing they realistically can do is tell their workers that making such statements will get them fired, but you can hardly change their mindset.
that would be good too. you can't force people to change but you can tell them what's acceptable behavior if they want to keep their job.

What's nice? Would you disagree with anything I said?

Yeah, it still irks me. I do know that there should be a better inbetween from our current system of doing things and what I'm proposing. The discussion of the game, with evidence should be halted, but discussing the issue surrounding it shouldn't, is more where I stand?
Makes perfect sense. I guess determining when to draw the line would be a though process for the mod team sometimes (not in this case though for sure.)

User banned (permanent): Trolling. Repeatedly pushing a variety of conspiracy theories about site staff. Extensive history of infractions.
you're not being realistic, you're just saying you have no problem supporting something and getting your however many hours of entertainment out of it regardless of how garbage the people your money goes to are
I have a very specific example earlier in the thread of somebody saying they were going to boycott AAA games until crunch culture ends, yet tonight they've been spewing posts about RDR2 and its map for hours, including posting comparisons of the previous game's map versus the new one. So much for that boycott.

If you're going to boycott and make it a talking point, then follow through. Somebody being honest about how they dislike the viewpoints of an individual but it's not going to affect their buying decision doesn't make them transphobic. It makes them honest. Because trust me, if you wanted to go down that rabbit hole, look up the NeoGAF histories of the founders of this site, yet you're here posting right now.

I hope this happens as well. "I can separate the art from the artist" and "how about the rest of the team that worked on the game?" get thrown around way too much here. Everyone knows there's other people that worked on these games that might be fine people, but what about the people that are effect by these companies' actions? Where do we draw the line?

But if you're apologizing for what you said, are you really "on their side"? From my viewpoint, this is a good way to make everyone hate you.

Not that I'll pretend to understand the thought process of alt-right people...

Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.
I mean they have done this before so they must be cool with it

Like, the tweet is shit, and I in no way defend it or the person that did it. They should get in deep shit for it. But what good does it do to punish, say, a programmer that's working on CP for something the GOG social media person did? I've never understood that rational. Do your coworkers speak for you? Should you be punished for their misdeeds?

Unless I'm missing something that points to the entire company being transphobic here.

gog and cdpr can fuck off until they prove they're not shitheads.

The tldr of gamergate is that a few years back a bunch of wankers decided they were gonna push everyone who wasn't white, male, straight or cis out of the videogame fandom. They sent death threats to game devs, reviewers & scientists, pushed the narrative that political correctness and [insert minority group] were destroying western civilization, and eventually most of them were folded into the techbro subset of the alt-right where they gleefully started teaching neo-nazis how to make memes.
Thanks, just read it on wikipedia. Wtf is wrong with people.

oh shit. sorry man. part of my text was eaten when i was typing. it was supposed to say "it was your simple half-hearted PR shit".
sorry, i'd never lump you in with that stuff. you good people.
I was like damn sorry lol.

But that's actually why I asking since the original tweets blew up enough that I noticed via the threads here but I had no idea what the response to them was so I was wondering if I just missed it or if the whole thing was just quietly ignored after a few days.

If it's a limp-dick apology, sure you are. The people they're targeting know not to take it seriously.

I don't know my company doesn't make transphobic tweets. And like any company with PR the pr person speaks for the whole company that's why they have them

If you can't stop yourself from buying it at least buy it second hand so they see no revenue.

This isn't how economics work.

By buying a game second hand, you increase the scarcity of the game and thus the overall cost of a used copy. As the price of a used copy gets closer to that of a new copy, more people will opt to just buy new.

I don't disagree with you but we're raised to treat whole corporations like a single actual person because legally, they are.

They routinely ignore concerns in feedback threads so you're going to need a lot of people making a lot of noise
I think a thread discussing this is worthy of being created. I'm gonna try to create one but I'm not really a good writer. But I'll create one if no one does in the next few hours.

It's not a good look. I really do like GOG as a service but their dumb tweet screwups have been making it hard lately. I feel like they must have hired some new person to run their social media accounts a while back and that same person has now given them bad PR three times. Not good at all.

The other social accounts under CD Projekt Red's name, like The Witcher accounts, still seem to be okay. This GOG account needs someone new behind it fast though.

There are certainly shit people working on some of those games but banning DQXI or Cyberpunk or Witcher from this discussion board? That's freaking crazy talk.

I dont think we should ban discussion about the game because I cant see how that works in advantage of spreading the word on how shitty their behaviour is.

We need to make noise instead of silence.

They NEED to give a response to this. They NEED to fire whoever handles their social media accounts.

We need Kotaku on this too.

Because this is supposedly the 3rd time they are specifically making jokes about trans people and it is getting pretty disgusting.
