I don't think Jade Raymond is a very talented producer. She was mostly in charge of the first AC which was the weakest game barring Unity (and that was because it ran like garbage) other than that I can't think of any bangers that she headed up.

My guess is she'll contact Matt and Phil because she probably knows that Microsoft is now paying the big bucks and she'll want a piece, but I think Matt and Phil both know she's not worth hiring to head up a studio, maybe head up a smaller team. Maybe she' can join the Initiative.
Speculation like this is toxic and kind of disgusting. Literally no one here knows what any specific person was responsible for, or what might have caused any of the various problems (or successes) behind any specific game.

What we do know is that Jade Raymond was a person directly involved in the creation of some of the most successful and long-running game franchises of all time. That's an accomplishment which almost no one else can claim. Especially not the armchair developers who so often like to criticize her.

I don't know why everyone ties her so closely to the AC series. From what I understand, it was largely Patrice Desilets' vision and execution. He was also the director on Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. His new studio Panache Digital Games' is already in development on their first project and it looks really cool and unique. They should be the target, in my opinion, not building a new studio around Raymond.

I didn't know who was most responsible. Just making the case that anyone railing against the first AC isn't using perspective. If the person reponsible for PoP and AC has a studio, I'm interested in what they're doing.

Co-sign. Also co-founder of two studios.

Polygon: Forsaken Shores delivers on Sea of Thieves' launch potential

Encouraged to read this but lots more to go till it fulfils its true potential.

https://www.polygon.com/2018/10/22/18008006/sea-of-thieves-forsaken-shores-devils-roar-cargo-runners

I was very much into SoT till i put it down for a few weeks when i left town. Came back and just couldnt get into it. Havent even played this new content and since the way they treat these as a timed window for campaign, im not too motivated either. Still, one day. Hope to recapture the magic.

long-running game franchises of all time.

Like what? Assassins Creed and...?

Especially not the armchair developers who so often like to criticize her.
Just because I don't think highly of her and don't think she's worth hiring doesn't make me an arm chair developer.

If someone cooks my food and I don't think its great, does that make me an armchair chef? I was hyped for the first AC, bought it day 1, beat it in one sitting and was underwhelmed with it.

She was directly involved in both Assassin's Creed and Watch Dogs. Both of which have been incredibly successful and spawned at least one successful sequel.

If Jade Raymond was the sole creator of those games your criticisms might have weight. Or if you're eating food cooked by literally hundreds of people sitting on multiple different continents designed over the span of years.

They have the Streaming service already?

The hell? Its happening already?
I guess... I guess that it would be a good idea if i start buying games with my Xbox account instead of Steam or Origin.
This is the best way to have all my games in one place while playing on PC (i Will Play the non Play Anywhere games by streaming, my internet Is good.)

I've seen plenty of folks talk about streaming for mobile, but I want it for home! Got two TV's I currently move my Xbox between. I'd love to just stream my games to one instead.

Yup, this! The real deal is streaming on smart TVs!

Then if I was ms I would make a low cost switch-like only streaming console. That would be also cool.

The biggest problem with Streaming, for me, is that I find it really hard to play a game on a smaller screen if I have a bigger one available. Meaning for most of the games I want to play, I'd like to do so in my home entertainment area, with a decent tv and sound system.
This reason is why I've barely made any progress in Mario Odyssey and BotW.

The sequels were better because there was a foundation to iterate on. When the first AC released, there was nothing like it on the market. It set the bar. It was draw dropping at the time. I remember the buzz out of E3. Anyone who took part in the first AC has something significant to brag about.
This.

And also, she had the same job on AC 2 which was fucking incredible.

Rand_AL_Thor is one of my go to gaming youtubers. Keep up the solid work, opinions and analysis.

And stay away from crapgamer lol.

No lie I had a post typed out to shit on this post for being unnecessary and low-effort and then I decided to look at who posted it before hitting reply.

Glad to see someone else is thinking Fable in-development reveal.

I figured it would get someone lol

But that whiney irate fanboy voice is gold though

Yeah... I should bust that one out more haha

Microsoft Store Wish Lists:

Also it looks like they are adding clickable links for publisher and genre sorting. Yay.

I wonder if Microsoft should start giving the incentive bonus for developers that Bethesda did if their games get critical success.

Say your game gets an 80-84 you get a bonus, an 85-89 you get a bigger bonus and the biggest bonus if your game gets a 90+

I wish they'd just give up on the Windows Store, and make a spin-off Xbox launcher. The Windows store isn't as bad as people make it out to be, but MS could circumvent years of consumers kicking and screaming if they just streamlined all the gaming feature and storefront into a single app; simply call it 'Xbox'.

I get that sales of their other products are incredibly important, but Xbox on PC is being buried by their current approach. Having the storefront as a smorgasbord of content is pushing people away, not enticing them to try out different things. Even dividing the storefront with 3 heading tabs - Productivity, Xbox, Media - would suffice.

They could even also take a page from Steam's trojan horse approach i.e. get in the door with games, and THEN start releasing alternative content (e.g. productivity software and media).

Back to the Jade Raymond debate. Looked up her career. Highlights include:
- producer on Assasins Creed
- executive producer on AC 2
- executive producer of Watchdogs
- executive producer of Splinter Cell Blacklist
- Founded Ubisoft Toronto
- Founded EA Motive

Just turned 43. Holy shit! For a lady to do all that at a young age in an industry that didn't have many ladies back when she started doing big things in damned impressive.

I'd say this is the resume of someone you'd want to support. At only 43, she's got a lot of experience and a lot more career ahead of her.

No. Hell no. Metacritic bonuses are the worst, they put additional stress on developers, and stifle creativity. Publishers should stop giving the horrible artificial construct that is Metascore any credibility.

I would be ecstatic for MS to build a studio around Jade or let her lead a newly acquired one. People ofcourse have opinions about how the games she's worked on have turned out but personally every game she's been associated with in some form I've been a big fan of.

Jade and Josef Fares have been at the top of my wishlist since MS started talking about building/acquiring studios around creative minds.

Terry Crews as a surprise guest makes the most sense right now. This or maybe Spielberg if they have big news about the Halo show.

This is literally my ideal world for Fable, cutting edge visuals and an amazing art style.

Damn, I saw this and got so excited thinking it was the real thing lol

I like your thinking here though and agree. They should be pushing for high end, cutting edge visuals and a great artsyle while staying true to the humor while improving the combat and magic.

Mounts in Fable or nah?

Hell yes. If only because I and I believe most of us, want a gigantic open world for the franchise to traverse full of secrets and such.

Definitely, it's really fun traversing fascinating open worlds on a horse or something of the sort.

Yep. That's something btw. The mount doesn't have to be a horse. Maybe it could be some fantasy creature we could tame, like a mystical elk or dragon. Imagine being able to fly around on the back of that. Man.

Playground bout to redefine open world horse racing.

lol
