Darkest Dungeon is a challenging gothic roguelike turn-based RPG about the psychological stresses of adventuring.

Recruit, train, and lead a team of flawed heroes through twisted forests, forgotten warrens, ruined crypts, and beyond. You'll battle not only unimaginable foes, but stress, famine, disease, and the ever-encroaching dark. Uncover strange mysteries, and pit the heroes against an array of fearsome monsters with an innovative strategic turn-based combat system.

Features:
  • The Affliction System – battle not only monsters, but stress! Contend with paranoia, masochism, fear, irrationality, and a host of gameplay-meaningful quirks!
  • Striking hand-drawn gothic crowquill art style
  • Innovative turn-based combat pits you against a host of diabolical monsters
  • Narration system to celebrate your successes...and failures
  • 16 (and counting!) playable hero classes, including Plague Doctor, Hellion, and even the Leper!
  • Camp to heal wounds or deliver inspiring speeches.
  • Rest your weary, shell-shocked characters in town at the Tavern or the Abbey to keep their stress in check.
  • Classic CRPG and roguelike features, including character permadeath, procedural dungeons, and incredible replay
Can you stem the tide of eldritch horrors erupting across your family's ancestral estate?

For me golf story is one...was into it but got bored pretty quick. Sadly, Hollow Knight is moving into this territory. The run back to bosses that take at least 5 minutes only to die in 30 seconds wore me down....

When a boss seems really hard in Hollow Knight, try exploring. You'll likely find some new upgrade, health, soul, badge, etc.. that will help you. Worked for me every time I came up against a wall.

Yeah Radiance isn't even easy mode per se, just one with faster progression overall, perfectly valid way to play (and it's just as brutal too). But yeah amazing game here.

Not quite as brutal but still tough . It does give more leeway to allow higher level characters to help out in beginner level dungeons.

Although, changing things in the game settings can make things much easier if wanted . Making retreat from battle always successful, and doing away with the enemy being able to do massive critical damage is the easy mode

I get bamboozled by the amount of spreadsheet menus I have to contend with before and after the dungeons.

Speaking of dungeons:

Can I heal (ie make the character eat food from the inventory) at any time? Or does it have to be during their turn in a combat situation?

I don't quite understand the stress mechanic, there is no inventory item to lower the meter it seems in these early playthroughs. I'm not at all worried about abandoning quests to get back to the healing houses but the game makes it clear 'this will add stress!'

Why couldn't I plug my beleaguered witch doctor dude into the church when the caretaker (ie me?) was already in the required slot already?

I am enjoying the game but it's a full time job studying the sheer amount of information it is throwing at you.

I only get through two or three green 'Scout' missions and nobody is willing to venture into the hilltop dungeon as yet, but then again neither am I.

I'm focusing on DPS and saving a lot of coin, in these early missions, should I be re-doing cleared levels?

I'm pretty sure you can eat food, but it doesn't heal much anyway so better to save it for when you get the hungry message . Sometimes even the "short" dungeon trips will have the message appear within short spans of each other . Other items can be used as well outside battle like bandages to stop bleeding or medicine to cure blight.

I usually try to have a vestal in my party for healing . Plus the Judgement spell does decent attack damage when I'm fortunate and characters have a decent amount of health .

Stress can be annoying but only becomes a massive problem if it gets above 100 and they start freaking out . Landing critical hits on enemies will often reduce stress and sometimes for the whole party . Once you start doing "medium" length missions, you can camp and some have skills that can greatly reduce stress .

Don't be afraid to fire those who have a significant number of negative quirks or the stress level is so high that treating them becomes too expensive to be really worth it . I can tolerate many negative quirks but kleptomanic is the one big exception . Having them steal important items in the dungeon for themselves is damn costly. I will usually spend the coin to cure that affliction or just release them.

It's hard not to get attached to certain characters though but building up the hamlet needs to be the main focus . Stage coach, blacksmith, and guild especially . If you are playing Radiant mode, you can use Veteran level mercenaries still in Apprentice level dungeons .

My apologies if I haven't really helped you much. The game is fantastic, and one of my most played on Switch . It does take a lot of trial and error to learn the game systems and I still get annoyed when one of the dungeon trips goes disastrously wrong. Lol .

Some reviews for Pizza Titan Ultra:

https://anydayreviews.com/pizza-titan-ultra-switch-review/

https://www.nindiespotlight.com/2018/10/review-pizza-titan-ultra-nintendo.html?m=1

Drift Legends:

https://reviews2go.com/2018/10/15/drift-legends-nintendo-switch-review/

https://switchwatch.co.uk/drift-legends-switch-review/

Personally I'm cautious about the "In-Game Purchases" descriptor in Drift Legends' ESRB rating. Neither the game description nor those reviews seem to mention anything about extra paid content. The price is really cheap, even for a F2P mobile port, but the original game on iOS is showing a $50 max IAP that leaves me wondering why they're only charging $5 for the base game on Switch. Maybe someone here who bought it can clarify what exactly these "in-game purchases" are.

EDIT: Nevermind, I missed this tidbit in the Reviews 2 Go review: "On the bright side, they also removed In-App Purchases for money while significantly reducing the prices for each car."
Thank you for your detailed reply!
This is why I love ERA.

Yes and the Switch version looks really good.

TBH as someone with an three-year-old iPhone and nothing bigger, and no interest/inclination in getting an iPad or something, the more Switch ports of mobile touchscreen games the better. Plenty of reasons I think why people would prefer a Switch port to the mobile version.

Why wouldn't you just play the games on mobile? They're designed for touchscreens and they cost a $1-3

For every person giving feedback about a game that is also available in iOS, do you pretend to write a reply comparing prices?

We saw the same thing with the Kairosoft games released this month, and now with 'The Room'.

If you don't consider fair the range of prices of console games, which is very different in its guidelines to the highly devalued phone market, that is fine.

While there is enough evidences that this price model is toxic, and there is no way in which indie developers can obtain profits in a much more stretched console market, something that has been discussed multiple times, that's fine.

Don't buy these games.

Or go to discuss these games in the iOS or Android dedicated threads in Era.

But let's stop judging what the people do with their hard earned money or with their time.

This is the second time this month, it already happened with the Kairosoft games, in which an user came to this thread to post a valuable feedback about his impressions with a game that he is enjoying.

Only to find one of your messages saying how you are not interested in these games.

Taken form the Era guidelines:

It's okay to not post: It is fine to see a thread about a subject that you absolutely don't care about and to not post in it. It's absolutely fine to let people celebrate tiny successes without dropping a snarky comment between posts. We are not asking of you to not be critical, but to be aware that your opinion is just one among many and not necessary for every single thread. Please note that the forum has an ignore feature that you can use if you do not want to see a certain user's posts.

With this attitude, at the end, people simply will decide to not post his impressions anymore about these games, to not feel judged.

Please, can we reduce the toxicity in these threads?

And I'm trying to say this in good faith. I consider you a very valuable member in the community, I love your pinball posts and tournaments, and I love your contributions to the community when you come in good faith.

But sometimes, I have the impression that you come to these threads only to vent.

And it's not the only example of a toxic attitude, I can continue until the infinite.

Whats the point in the OT for 'Marble It Up!' in which one of the developers of the game is an active user, so he is subscribed to the thread, to simply come to write this?

One of the worst names ive ever heard.

Like seriously, relax a little.

I played through the new content of Hexalogic and it's about as hard as the later levels in the vanilla game, which is to say pretty easy.

Maybe the whole premise just doesn't allow for hard(er) puzzles.

It's still a very relaxing endeavour to play your way through. Just don't expect any challenge going in. It also won't last you very long even with the added content, but that's reflected in its low price.

I'm looking forward to finally playing 7 Billion Humans this week. Windjammers also seems like a lock. Besides that the Yomawari collection also looks interesting, but the price it too high for impulse buying and I would have rather bought the first game by itself to see if I like it.

In the meantime, I'm working my way through Megaman 11. Never really played a Megaman game (only a bit of 9 on the 360) but I'm really enjoying myself. Playing on normal, while completely avoiding the store, which comes across as something that sells cheats rather than something that the game is carefully crafted and balanced around. I killed two of the bosses (block and impact) so only a bunch to go.

Really excited for Windjammers and hoping to god the online community is better than on PS4 or Vita.

I'm sure NOS doesn't help with that. I know a lot of people are holding out for Smash to subscribe and Windjammers will be dead long before then.

The good news of 'Windjammers' in Switch is that while the game is distributed by DotEmu, indeed, this Switch version has been ported by BlitWorks.

http://www.blitworks.com/windjammers/

To put a bit of context, almost all the attempts of porting Dreamcast games to modern consoles went terribly wrong. The Dreamcast collection released in Steam with games such as 'Crazy Taxi' was a disaster with broken audio and an inaccurate reproduction of the original slowdown. The recent' Shenmue' remasters, a mess of bugs and technical problems not present in the original games. 'Zero Gunner 2' in Switch, other disaster of port. Even 'Ikaruga' which originally was running in a Naomi board, it had some bugs in the Steam and Switch ports, not present in the original Dreamcast game.

But Blitworks triumphed when other lot of companies failed, with its superb 'Jet Set Radio' port for PS3, Vita, Xbox 360 and Steam.

So while DotEmu has fucked up every emulated game in the past, including the disaster of the 'Raiden Legacy' collection and all the Neo-Geo games released in Steam with bad aspect ratios and problems in the sound, I have hopes in Blitworks not dropping the ball with its Neo-Geo emulator for Switch.

Also, people tend to cite a lot Panic Button.

But do you know what's the company with the most impressive portfolio of Switch ports, releasing a new game almost every month? Blitworks.

They have ported 'Tricky Towers', 'Broken Age', 'Bastion', 'Gone Home', 'Salt and Sanctuary', 'N++', 'Don't Starve', 'Owlboy', 'Crypt of the Necrodancer', 'The Journey Down', 'Super Meat Boy', 'Hammerwatch' and both entries of 'De Blob'.

None other porting company has such an impressive portfolio in Switch.

It just appeared Rogue Legacy for November 6th on the eShop.

Now we are only missing 'Nuclear Throne' and 'Spelunky' from all the early roguelite iconic games released in consoles.

And of course, 'Super Amazing Wagon Adventure', but we can't live in such a PERFECT world.

'Rogue Legacy' is fantastic, but the game that I'm really waiting from Cellar Door Games is 'Full Metal Furies'.

One of these things that every month I need to resist the temptation of pushing the purchase button in Steam, while I say to myself that eventually it will come to Switch, and I have double dipped enough in the last year.

Speaking of Spelunky, is it a good entry roguelite? I'm more interested in platforming than rogue-ing. Sorry for the off topic question.

'Spelunky' is a fucking masterpiece for the creative ways in which is able to create vertical randomized patterns.

A roguelite that surprised me a lot this year was 'Dig Dog'.

It took the same type of vertical randomized construction of a scenario to create platforming sections, but it added a much more fast paced nature and simplified mechanics, feeling like the lovechild between 'Spelunky' and Japanese digging classics such as 'Dig Dug' or the 'Lode Runner' series.

It was released in Steam and Xbox One, and it's from the same creator of 'Astro Duel Deluxe', available in the eShop and ported to Switch by Panic Button.

Maybe, it's a good entry point to have a "taste" of some of the defining mechanics of 'Spelunky', without investing too much time in learning all the complex rules.

So, I posted this in the Kairosoft thread, but does anyone know if Game Dev Story etc actually got released on the 11th? I can't find them on the Canadian eshop and when I pull them up on Nintendo.com it gives me a price but no ability to buy them.

As far as I can tell, none of the Kairosoft titles launched in Canada.

Ah yes - Rogue Legacy - from the makers of the classic text adventure Don't Shit Your Pants.

And it's sequel, David Cage's Don't Shit Your Pants.

WILL: A Wonderful World is a neat premise but it has one of the most obnoxious tutorials I've ever encountered. If you have even a slightly bad memory it will punish you for it. And then it does it again just for shits and giggles, but this time in a specific order.
There is absolutely no need for this especially when they could have added a Text Log feature which is common in so many other visual novels.
