or maybe, I want them to move on and stop making more Destiny?
This has nothing to do with the nonsense you've been radiating throughout the thread like; "Destiny didn't become popular, it was MADE popular. It wasn't famous because people loved it, it was famous because there's marketing everywhere". Only in the last couple of posts after being called out have you switched to this "I'm just saying they should make other games" line.

I love Destiny, played through all of both games with my dad and we are now around level 530.

One thing I am real worried about is Destiny getting more difficult . My dad can barely do strike and we've never touched a raid, so I'm just waiting for the day he just can't play anything due to the difficulty which entails pretty much anything PvP related

Hopefully Anthem does well and lights a fire under Bungie's ass. Maybe theyll actually get their shit together this time.

Well they are making a new IP + making a sequel to a successful IP. If you don't like Destiny, just wait for the new IP.

I WAS waiting, but I just now learned that I'll have to wait even longer. Hence why I'm pissed and disappointed.

I was hoping Destiny 2 would kill off the franchise, but I guess they just don't want to give it up.

If by "right thing" you mean "franchise suicide," then sure.
How would that exactly be franchise suicide? Destiny fans are for the most part extremely happy with how Forsaken is, myself include. And since D3 is rumored to be more tailored towards the hardcore players and not the "2 hours a week players", they will want what is best for the game, which would be playing on the best hardware possible.

They are still not giving up on this 10 year plan isn't it? I feel bored just reading ''Destiny 3'' out loud.

Exactly how I feel about this.

It's like COD except it never had a golden age like Modern Warfare. Everything about the Destiny franchise was mediocre from the very beginning, it's only appeal is the addicting grindy nature, that's really it.

People buy these games to shoot shit and get bored, there was no legacy, few would care to do Destiny cosplay at Comicon, as a video game series it simply wasn't special or even interesting, let alone memorable or iconic.
As much as I complain about Destiny, that is not true.
D1 had a fantastic lore that unfortunately was hidden behind the stupid grimoire system. While playing the game I went digging about it and was surprised that it was so interesting yet so hidden. It's a bit like the souls games.
D2 casualized it and made the story about a big bad guy that you have to defeat. Yes the campaign played better but the story took a big hit. D2 did not add anything to the lore.
Bungie just sucks at telling stories. They did the same with the Halo series.

Not America
And presumably the cycle will continue:

1. Anticipation propped up by various gaming outlets
2. The myriad factions and their recruitment that will pop up here
3. Bombastic launch and honeymoon period
4. Critics will start looking at the game closely after some time passes highlighting the major new shortcomings and the ones that have not been addressed
5. The inevitable plateauing that comes with raid like game design which isn't for everyone (which I found out the hard way). The grind and rinse n repeat becomes all
6. An inevitable video from Jim Sterling outlining whatever potentially shitty and predatory corporate practices that will show up in the game
7. The patches that take generally two steps forward and at least one step back will be made manifest
8. After a while, there will people even more people who drop off from the clans and stop playing the game due to its repetitive nature including the hub world where the main characters say the same lines ad nauseam.
9. New DLC will be announced and the fatigue for some would subside as gaming outlets and influencers pick up and run with the story to fulfill their obligations.
10. Rinse and repeat until another thread like this pops up for Destiny 4 and people will say, "Fool me thrice"

I played both D1 and D2 and got burnt out on the second one even faster than the first due to its repetitive nature. Not to mention the world felt smaller (same few lines from same named characters unperturbed by the changes the player makes to the world ....urgh) and reconciling the "saviour" story with other "guardians" was impossible for me. As I have grown older I have been gravitating more and more towards story based games in that regard Destiny 2 fell well short for me.

At the least, Destiny 3 will still presumably have great shooting controls.

if its an actual fucking mmo, I'll play it. If it continues to be this segmented/ instanced, pseudo mmo lite, shoot the spongey monster, or queue into call of duty crap, I'll pass...

Passed hard on Destiny 2 because those red flags came out early.

I've never seen a game have such a large amount of haters follow it thread after thread.

Destiny is the best selling and most played IP this gen.

I won't let myself get excited for Destiny anymore. I think that Bungie just cannot produce enough content to create a Destiny experience that would satisfy me.

I thought my point was clear: Destiny was never great, it was made to be popular via expensive marketing campaign, which is why they should just stop milking the franchise and make something actually great instead.

Most people are tired of Destiny, not just on here but everywhere else.

What,? People don't play games for thousands of hours because of marketing. The games are actually fun which is why people like then

Well.. at the end of the day, whether you like it or not, destiny pretty much does the best in its genre.. which is why it has so many people playing it daily and putting in hundreds of hours even after the below average year 1.

Just saying that doesn't make it true though. People find it great, TTK and Forsaken are legitimately amazing games, Forsaken especially.

I am glad y'all still like it, but you have to understand there are lots of Bungies fans like me who absolutely freaking hates Destiny.

You might not want to hear them btichin but the thing is they don't want to be like this either. They want Bungie to do something new that's not Destiny.

You're wrong. Destiny has been great.

And it currently is great.

Most people are tired of Destiny, not just on here but everywhere else.

I like when people say they're done with the thread, definitely aren't trolling and then continue to pull nonsense out of their ass.

I did. Day fucking one! It was not a joke. When Destiny 2 launched it had amazing gunplay and gamefeel, a great campaign with tons of memorable environments and a robust system for coop. Just because you couldn't really grind endlessly does not make the game "a joke".

It was universally trashed from day 1, terrible game that I got suckered into buying.

More RPG focus is what this game has always needed IMO. The first game always felt RPG light, but seemed to have some solid potential. Then for D2 they went the complete opposite direction that I wanted and dumbed down almost every system in the game.

I really want to like this series because the shooting feels really good. Hopefully this time they get it right from the get-go and don't have to go through 2-3 expensive expansions to get an enjoyable game.

Your point was clear, it's just a ridiculous one to make. 'Most people' aren't tired of Destiny, the franchise is in the best spot it's been in at all, right now. EDGE even popped Forsaken a 9. Content is still being discovered on a weekly basis from that release, and the pivot has been massively successful. It's genuinely a fantastic experience and a ridiculous amount of value for money if people choose to jump in now.

This whole "people don't like it, they just think they like it" line you're alluding to with your marketing spiel is just patently dumb.

What? Look at my original quote below. What are you even arguing about?

Yeah, I mean bungie has messed up some, but Bioware under the current regime of EA operating right now? You have high expectations for this?

EDIT:
Edit: nvm. i cba with this nonsense.

Oh you changed.... I wonder why. LOL

I already did my time with this franchise and I don't plan to ever return. Reading the thread title just made me groan. Bungie please.
Not interested in them anymore until they're putting something out that isn't Destiny. I can wait.

Your read of the situation is completely out of touch with reality, which is fine but you should at least be aware.

Its a hugey popular series with a devoted following - several journalists have gone on record as saying Destiny articles are "stickier" than a lot of other games, and Activision has released data that shows the average Destiny player is among the most invested in terms of hours played, well beyond "shoot shit and get bored."

This also ignores that it has appeared in just about every quantifiable metric of popular games when it comes to Twitch viewership, hours spent on PSN/Xbox live, and youtube content.

Not to mention it has masterclass art, UI, & sound design, which even the most jaded and cynical critic has to admit; Guns like Gjallarhorn, Thorn, and The Last Word regularly turn up in threads and articles about iconic videogame weapons, while Destiny references, parodies, and cosplays are all over the place if you pay even the slightest bit of attention.

Admittedly I am a big fan of the series (who wholly respects that its not for everyone), but trying to dismiss it as "guns and shooting" when Destiny's real core is that its a fantastic social experience set in one of gaming's coolest sandboxes just telegraphs you as a huge cynic with a biased opinion disguised as "expertise."

"more hardcore" than Forsaken

Bollocks to that. I've been putting roughly millions of hours into Forsaken, playing the same content on repeat and I still can't even play the bloody raid. I ain't carrying on with that nonsense.

Thanks for the thoughtful post, Mr.Pants.

I guess Destiny just ain't my cup of tea, like I said, I will keep waiting until they finally moved on to a new IP. I am just a bit annoyed now since I now know I have to wait longer than I expected.

See you guys in the Destiny 4 reveal thread.

Barrett being the director on this is a good thing. D2 initially swung too far away from the things people actually liked with D1, and Forsaken has hit a happy medium under Barrett.

Give me cross progression / crossplay across all platforms, please. I don't care if the PS exclusive weapons are blacked out, just make it happen.
