I remember that night. Was she just drunk or?
This is the impression I was under as well. Figured she was involved in the (unannounced) future Splinter Cell title.
Oh.
This is big news. The title she was working is supposed to be a big deal so her departure is side eye worthy.
Hope she goes back to Ubisoft btw
She worked on Splinter Cell Blacklist iirc and it was amazing. I miss her being at Ubi.
Wait why is everyone assuming this is bad news? There's hardly any info given
Is it just the EA = Bad rhetoric
"Words that kill." damn that was savage.
Damn.
That hiring sure produced a lot of content. Good job, EA.
I have nothing against Raymond, she got way too much shit for things that weren't even her fault, but the fact EA made a big deal about hiring her and letting her build her own team and nothing has come of it in several years is just...woof.
I hope she finds a new role soon.
4 yearsHow long has Motive been a thing?
I feel like it was one of EA's big bullet points coming into this generation. And now we are at the end and they still seem like they are 5 years away from shipping anything.
Yes star wars
I don't think this is 100% accurate.Well Amy Henning was making a new SP game until EA decided that SP games are not good anymore
That wasn't Raymond fault.
Eh, I'm pretty excited about Anthem.I honestly cannot remember the last Electronic Arts game that I cared about.
If you don't love Fifa, Madden, or Battlefield/front...there just isn't a lot to like. And I use to be a huge fan of the brand.
Its like they know they need to be known for more, but can't figure out how to get there.

For more context, Motive (Montreal) wasn't only working on Jade Raymond's big new IP. They also made the single-player campaign for Battlefront 2 and had some other things in the works. They absorbed the remnants of BioWare Montreal last year and, from what I've heard, lost a lot of top staff throughout 2018, including a big exodus in March or April of this year. I don't know why but have heard various stories from both happy and unhappy employees there.Seems weird to be in this much trouble when the game isn't supposed to be out for years.

Isn't this similar to what happened with Amy Hennig? I feel for these prolific developers who spearhead a new initiative and then depart before the company has any mentionable output.
EA sounds all kinds of terrible for game developers and artists. It's like where you go if you want to mass produce focus-tested derivative GaaS to gouge consumers. It's like a great chef working for McDonalds.
I refuse to buy any of their products.
I don't think this is 100% accurate.
From what I remember reading it seems the pre-production of that game was almost a dumpster fire and went nowhere.
Are you sure about that? Both producers fighting for money and resources. Jade probably said, "Hey EA, look over here, our staff work for a fraction of the price of those folks in California. Give me all that responsibility and power please." Project moves from Cali to Montreal, Hennig is out. 2 + 2 = ...Well Amy Henning was making a new SP game until EA decided that SP games are not good anymore

I always see you in all the dice and ea threads doing some good pr work.
I dont disagree at all.
Maybe it was retooled and isnt sci-fi anymore idk
this also? ;)

They weren't - they didn't have much to show for the work and senior staff had already seen where the wind was heading and left to new jobs - if staff end up starting to leave cus they can see where the development is heading, it's by definition , not on track. From what I remember the game had a lot of problems but they were finally getting around them and the team was finally on track.
what's with every developer leaving being a possible candidate for the initiative
I allow it.
Now I need to get off this website and focus on that other gargantuan story!
Damn, not a good look for EA or their future SW games.
Goddamn I am worried about Respawn.

I had no idea she was still in the game industry. I wouldn't have blamed her for leaving either after the proto-GG crap she went through after AC1. I hope she stays involved if she still has the passion for it.
