Does anyone else think this will likely happen? I don't think there is a technical hurdle since I remember Bungie talking about it ever since D1 launched and everything is already stored on Bungie's servers. Apparently they still talk about it internally, so it must be possible.

I feel like this would be the perfect game to have it, much more than Fortnite, since you have actual leveled characters with their own loot and not just cosmetic skins and crap. Might even increase sales from double dipping. If I had an XB1, no way would i rebuy D2 right now just to start from scratch. But with cross-save? It would be a no brainer.

I wish it would, but unlikely for Destiny 2 at this point I would think.

I wish it would happen; I'd love to buy the game on all platforms but do most of my actual progression wherever I feel comfortable playing it at a given moment. Even if they don't do cross-play, I'd love cross-save; I'd happily buy the game multiple times if it meant I could play with my friends on all platforms.

I agree... thought I could level up different characters on different systemsbut always end up on my main on PC. Shame as cross progression would be a game changer in my opinion.

This as well, really throw me any bone. I prefer to play things on a ton of platforms because I split time in different locations, but my main system is a console.

I want it for D2 more than any other game. A lot of my friends from D1 moved to PC and I can't play with them anymore. I miss raiding with them

I don't have much faith in it happening but damn do I want it

As someone who has always been interested in Destiny but never bought it, I'd definitely buy it knowing I could play with all my friends no matter what platform. hope they add cross play and cross save. Fortnite has this idea done well. I think every MP game should at least match how well Epic has done it. They make it easy to add friends and join parties and progress carries over.

They said they had discussed it, on one of those Gane Informer cover story interviews pre-Foresaken.

I think the big problem is gonna be the shitty PS exclusive stuff. They'd prob have to rid of that first.

0% for D2 with D3 coming next year.

I can see the possibility of it when they inevitably rebuild whatever engine they are on for D4 next gen. Maybe even by an expac for 3 if they want to stretch the life of the game out a year.

Absolutely no way Destiny 3 is launching next year. At most we get a Rise of Iron style expansion but not a full fledged sequel.

Yep this would cause issues as they would have to be separate matchmaking pools for strikes and pvp due to exclusive strikes and maps. And also nightfall would only be available on PlayStation if it was one of the exclusive strikes that week etc.

Xur too if he had exclusive gear

That's already the case ever since D1. NF and Xur inventory never included PS exclusive stuff.

As long as they make cross play opt in, then I don't see any problem with excluding the exclusive stuff. PS only items would just be greyed out if you logged into another platform.

I can't imagine it'll be easy to implement for D2, but it certainly is free money down the drain if they don't . The incentive is super high for double dipping if cross-progression happens. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed

Destiny 3. Believe.

I have friends on every platform and it would be amazing to unite us all instead of being in different dimensions but sharing Clan EXP.

With only 3 character slots, limited vault space and different collections across different platforms, it will be pretty hard to do in D2. D3 probably, if Sony allows. Though Sony has exclusive content, dunno how that would work.

I bet it doesn't because activision would rather you buy three copies of the same game with season passes.

Cross-Save, yes,

Crossplay, now in hell are bungle stupid enough to send console players off to face PC MK/B wielders with their faster frames and wider FOV

Don't think it's gonna happen with PS4 exclusives. How annoying would it be to keep getting killed or teaming with players who have a weapon you can't even acquire for a year or so?

It's not unsolvable but it's a bit more complicated than that. You could log out on PS wearing only PS exclusive armour and have no other armour to auto swap to etc.

Man, cross-save would be a game-changer for sure. I really wish I could work on my PS4 characters on my PC copy (which is just sitting there b/c all my clan is on PS4).

How would paid expansions work across rival platforms?
In an ideal world, those would be tied to your Bungie.net account and not platform. Unfortunately, there's too much greed at every level of the system for that to ever be a possibility.

I don't see why the PS exclusives would be a point of issue, at least not from a technical perspective. In D1 and D2 they already have a license check in place for gear and if you don't have the license it's simply grayed out and unable to be equipped. Could do the same thing for any PS exclusive weapons/armor.

Cross save was in their initial launch plans for D2 but was turned down by a certain big publisher at the time.

It's not happening. I was actually pretty surprised that there's no cross progression between PC and consoles. You have to earn loot individually on every platform. If there was cross progression I would seriously consider picking up the PC version of Destiny 2, but I have very little interest in rolling a brand new character and doing that all over again.

If I was Sony/Micro, I'd take advantage of this loud cry for cross play and arrange platform competitions like tournaments and stuff.

Let the console warriors duke it out. They're gonna do it anyway in forums and comment sections.

They could even go crazy and have competitions over who gets exclusive content a few days early.

That's what I'd do anyway.

I could totally get behind that kind of console war.

I wouldn't expect the cross play given so many system differences in content and performance ,but there's not much reason cross save couldn't be a thing.

They already have a way to do this. I owned the DLC for D1 and my brother did not. When he played on my console, he could use the items, but when he played on his, the game said "you do not have access to this right now" and he couldn't use it.

Dropping this game after 150+ hours after CoO on PS4 to jump to PC is the best thing I did. However, it took the best part of a year before the main person I play with to jump ship too. If cross-save was a thing, that wouldn't have needed to happen and we would have played for much longer. So Bungie are missing out really. It's entirely down to contracts. People saying "but what about the PS exclusive stuff", why would that make a difference. I can play the game and use a gun someone else hasn't got, or a run a strike or a raid with someone that doesn't have Forsaken.

I want this badly but Sony would never allow for this, especially with them paying for exclusive content.

I just want to take my progress onto PC.

I don't think it's a technical hurdle as much as an "Activision and Sony have a multi-million-dollar mega marketing deal" hurdle.

I'd consider coming back to the game if they ever did so I could use my PS4 progress on the PC but as it is I moved on.

I think a decent number of people would buy the game on multiple platforms if they added cross progression. I would buy the PC version in a heartbeat if they did, but I have zero interest in starting over from scratch.

Not till bungie/activision stop it with these horrible content deals, which sucks. I'd love to go to any console and pc, and yep, Ill buy the game again.

I don't think it will happen but if it did I'd buy D2 complete on the X in a heartbeat.
