Saw this posted on Twitter as a Chinese military recruitment video (though apparently it isn't one directly, it's in celebration of some military day) and it was contrasted against some more normal American Army video that was a bit more 'badass'.

Damn........kind of want to join the PLA now where do I sign up.

Also 'peace behind me, war in front of me'

Propaganda is based around influencing and exploiting emotions, that video seems pretty standard for that sort of thing.

Play America's Army, you literally can't play as the bad guys. (It's a propaganda game filled with a lot of crap about how awesome is to be a soldier(but its actually a good game))

That's like the whole point of propaganda. All propaganda take advantage of your emotions, US recruitment videos are no different, they just tend to target a different type of emotion because they know that is what the people they are looking for respond best to

I did play that when I was like 13 lol.

Maybe in general that type of video isn't so rare, though I'm from Canada and as a result most of the military recruitment videos were not so emotional but like "come get a degree and play with cool tech!" And the recent US one it was being compared to:

But yeah maybe not that rare (and it's not even an actual recruitment video I think) but I thought it was pretty effective lol.

"Pick up the steel gun, we must let go of the children"

Either a mistranslation or really fucked up advice.

Asian ad agencies love emotional porn commercials.
You should watch those insurance ones if you want to be sad for no reason.

I mean, just look at the perverse cult sorrounding the armed forces in the U.S..

I really don't like telling people I'm a veteran because it leads into the whole "Thank you for your service" crap.

I honestly wish people who thank me for my sacrifice instead on my service. At least then they'd be acknowledging all the bullshit I put up with when I was on active duty (a lot of which I'm still dealing with to this day), instead of making themselves feel better.

Well, most of the time they're trying to make you get ready to die for someone else's gain. Better be emotional.

I desperately needed a job and once I was out it set me up for a good future. But I dont advertise that I'm a veteran because it was just a job and I dont need acknowledged or thanked for putting up with some hardcore bullshit.

Always a fan of the "be all that you can be" US Army commercials. Super catchy.

Yeah, my family or people that are close to me always bring it up, especially when it gets closer to Veteran's Day and whatnot, but just like you, it was just a job to me that helped me grow up and set me up for later. There were way more people that sacrificed more and I'd rather it be channeled to them.

I will absolutely get my free Krispy Kreme when asked though. XD

You've never seen a Hollywood film I assume? That's the most emotional US military propaganda if I've ever seen one

Yeah lol, but it's one of the tamer ones I felt comfortable sharing. A lot of the military propaganda has the term, "jap" so it gets a little crazy. I find it all very interesting at how you can tell a culture in time by just a propaganda poster.
They are pretty good in general though. Lots of emotional ones from many countries and I think people generally find them interesting. That one just seems a bit off though with the fist shake contrasted with "our bullets will do it!"

More emotional than gum commercials though?

That is the dumbest series of commercial out there. Holy hell. The first few commercials? Yeah they're fine, whatever. But it quickly turned into a try-hard drama that must have been written by a middle-schooler who just read Romeo & Juliet for the first time. Good God it's so bad.
