Colin Moriarty's note on current games journalism

"Man, people are so bitter about Colin. If you don't like him or his opinions, just ignore it. Meanwhile, me and many others will continue to back him on Patreon to help home spread his word. I don't agree with everything he says, but most of his opinions are measured, thought out and consider more than one point of view."

Defending poor Colin and backing him on Patreon, go you.

I hope I've not inadvertently offended any EZA members in here, was not my intention!"

Holy shit, not a single thing this guy says feels genuine at all. Hiding his apology in the comments section is shady as shit
it is like a sociopath unable to muster an actual, normal human response so is scurrying around calculating and doing some cost/benefit to everything he says instead

At least that is how it feels to me, the guy doesn't deserve a career in the industry and needs to move on. I'm sure people will do what they need to in order to feed a kid but he didn't need to plagiarize, and he isn't welcome in gaming anymore so now he needs to do something else

Everyone saying Filip should be given a chance:

Regardless of whether he's sorry or not, he's not passionate or knowledgeable about video games, especially Nintendo games. That's a cardinal sin and he doesn't belong in the industry.

I'll never get over him being Nintendo editor and him being unsure about why Nintendo fans are excited for Smash Bros games.

"Second chance" I'm laughin

He is not entitled to a position in games journalism. No one is entitled to any job. Especially a job that a lot of qualified people would love to actually do.

This mediocre-ass dude literally tripped his way into a fucking job that he could not do (or at least had no interest in doing) and he cheated his way off the hard work of others his entire career. Why does he deserve a "second chance"? The mother fucker did it a million times and kept getting away with it. He clearly doesn't care.

This isn't even an "art vs. artist" debate. You can't value his opinions "despite these mistakes", because we don't even know what his opinions are. He never gave them. He copied the opinions of others. Again: his entire career.

No one owes this mother fucker anything. Not even the benefit of the doubt at this point. I'm sick of talentless mediocre men taking advantage of others to further their career, in lieu of, you know, actually trying. The idea that one would be content lapping up attention and profit off of work they didn't actually do is, honestly, fucking sickening to me.

Go find a job in sales, binch. No one owes you shit.

Lol that quote kills me, like wtf other perspective could you have been looking at it from? I wish his coworker had called him out on that at the time, he was obviously just fishing for ideas for his article.

He still comes off as a narcissist. I don't know him, but he's made two monetized non-apologies for what are extremely egregious plagiarism and integrity violations. Hard to feel bad for him or supportive of him.

I'm pretty certain he's not a gamer at all, he just saw it as an easy and somewhat lucrative topic with the Switch coming out. It certainly explains some of the plagiarism

People keep discussing an apology, but the time for such an act is now gone. It should have been the first video he made when he chose to return and any such effort is now meaningless. He failed to apologize when it was the proper thing to do. If he made an apology video today or tomorrow it would be too late, imo.

I think it's more of his insincerity that has people annoyed. He refuses to admit to what he did and tries to pull the "apology but not really an apology" thing. I'm all for giving someone a second chance, but only when it's clear that they own up to what they did and they're sorry for it; this dude has done none of that, and expects people to keep following him like nothing happened.

I agree that some of the hostility has gone overboard, considering that he did lose his job and credibility but he's honestly done nothing to earn back any good will that he's wanting/expecting, so it's not surprising people are still pissed.

It must have taken you guys a while to check, remove all the related work to Filip, good thing IGN India had them all up so we could refer to them at the time while you took it down.

He plagerized some stuff and lost his job for it. He didn't eat babies.

That's an oversimplification lol

But that's what I don't understand, I guess. Why are people pissed if he did not personally wrong you? Some folks should be pissed, certainly, but for everyone else ... don't watch his videos and move on.

Huh so he's trying a comeback? Wow he's got some balls.... or he is even more desperate than I ever thought.

Watching his video, something about him creeps me out. The way he looks and talks makes me feel uncomfortable. The production quality of his video is very good though, have to give it to him. Still, I'll avoid all his content from now on because I don't want to support him in any way. Damn, I feel bad for even watching this video. But I was just too curious.

That's a dumb argument you can say that with pretty much anything.

Any person who acts like an idiot or die something wrong but we don't get affected personally we should look the other way and ignore it as it's not our problem.

I still can't believe just how well he faked his way into arguably one of the most prestigious Nintendo-related journalism positions in the whole industry. This guy was barely even a Nintendo fan, but jumped on board the Switch hype-train at just the right time to capture an audience and rode it all the way to IGN. This is the guy who didn't understand why people were excited for Smash. It just blows my mind.

I had to stop listening to NVC during his stint because his lack of knowledge and focus regarding anything Nintendo-related was so painfully obvious. It was embarrassing to see after all the amazing work Jose put in. So glad the show is back to its great former self.

You are free to ignore him.

I think that everyone deserves a second chance.

And, please, who are you to tell people what to do? Stick to your opinion.

Didn't you get the memo

He got his second chance, he made an apology video daring Kotaku to find anything and said it was unintended. Then he quickly deleted his 2nd chance apology vudeo after more revelations of plagerizing commenced when he dared Kotaku.

So now he is on his 3rd chance and this time it wasn't as bad as his 2nd chance but I still think he failed his 3rd chance the apology was generic and he hasn't admitted to plagerizing yet. And most of his apology want even in the video just a small caption that looks like PR.

So yeah he deserves a 2nd chance (die he?) And he blew that 2nd chance. And perhaps blew the 3rd chance hopefully the 4th chance he does better surely he deserves a 4th chance as he didn't mean to plagerise as he loves working in his channel why should he delete his YouTube channel and all lost his gained subs he made over the last 2 years with plageriazed meterual right?

Now I know why some people call Resetera a Hate Group. People here love to hate (ha) everything.

It is ok to not like him, to not want to watch this videos, but denying him a second chance? Are you perfect? Do you never did something wrong? Plagiarism is not the only wrong thing in the world.

I feel ashamed of the lack of humanity in some people here.

I do not usually watch north-american videos, but just because of some people in this page, I watched his video and even clicked in the ads. =P

I still think the fact that IGN didn't realize how terrible this dude was is also funny. Forget the plagerizing drama, but he was terrible at his job in general. "Hey guys *reads some PR shit in script* what you guys think let us know in the comments". That's all he did throughout his gig at IGN. How the hell did they find this guy and hire him, Peer needs to do some explaining. I remember Alana tweeted they were desperate and didn't wanna pay much and she quickly deleted that Tweet lol. Brian whats going on I see you posting here any information why your company hired this dude and tolerate his terrible generic non opinions at IGN. My 10 year old nephew knows more about Nintendo than him maybe he can get a job at IGN.

Oh no, some guy who stole the work of other people might have to get another job because that's a red line for many potential viewers.

How INHUMANE.

I feel amused at the amount of hyperbole in your post. :)
