Yeah but EA is the worst offender of the big 3 by a big margin. The CEO is a sociopath.I mean, you made an OT for a game series that supports lootboxes and paid-DLC maps, too.

That's interesting, I wonder did Battlefront 2 kill it or EA don't expect to keep the license so aren't greenlighting a 3rd.
wow how would you know. Do you work at DICE or som...
Tbh I'd be slightly ashamed to have worked on BF2 even if I had nothing to do with the practices. It was a largely embarrassing moment in gaming history. But it seems like its just new studios opening up, clearly offering incentives to move onto their studios.
Who do you think could do it instead of DICE? Or more importantly as quick? The license is going to expire in 2013-2014, the deal was signed in December 2013 tho.
They still have enough time for Battlefront 3 and another studio at EA can make Battlefront 3.
Patrick Söderlund got sacked (or he simply left). Time to go off, Andrew.

Respawn and Bioware have their hands full. Motive I guess? But I doubt they can match DICE's pace.
That's a pretty silly view. If I had worked on such a massive project, and gotten through the problems it had, I would definitely not hide that or be ashamed of it. Rather the opposite.
Development projects are hard, and you absolutely doesn't count only the flawless ones.
Do you seriously think EA is going to kill 2 AAA studios with over 1200+ employees? Come on.
5.7% turnover, or even if the number is higher by a few points, isn't really that surprising for any medium/big sized company. Kind of a weird news story.
Its not like they don't deserve it. They, Activision, and Ubisoft are the Axis of Evil when it comes to predatory business practices in gaming.Yeah. People will bash EA at every (non) opportunity they have I guess.

Battlefield 5 is really gonna be the big test, at this point the stuff that has happened with battlefront 2 is done and either DICE and EA have learned from it or they haven't. I have grave doubts as to how the market is gonna receive BF5 but I'm frequently wrong on that kinda stuff so we'll find out in 2-3 months once the dust settles. If BF5 is received well and sells well then I think a lot of employees will feel vindicated and happy, if it crashes and burns then I'm not sure what DICE is gonna do.
That's already how DICE works.Good. Workers need to show that they won't tolerate absurd work schedules to meet unrealistic deadlines, and having more protections and options will move the industry towards more sustainable development cycles. If EA wants releases more often, make more studios that work on separate projects over a longer period of time.
What is crunch and overtime like in a studio with a collective bargaining agreement ?
This is taken from a job posting for a VFX artist in Stockholm
They need to drop the campaign, and focus on the MP - the thing BF was always good at. Maybe think about moving to an evolving service model.
I think they wanted Battlefront 2 to be an ongoing platform so they could free up Criterion and Motive for other games they were already slated for. That's interesting, I wonder did Battlefront 2 kill it or EA don't expect to keep the license so aren't greenlighting a 3rd.
Blops 4 seems to be doing just fine on that front. You'll just get people howling in the streets of the internet that the SP stuff is not there. The question then becomes are you willing to take that initial PR hit if everything else you do offer in the MP space is on point?
The progression system was completely based around the lootbox system, so when it was gutted it had to all be redone. Was criticized after it went too as people where just AFKing because you got fuck all for doing anything but finishing a match. What was the Battlefront 2 debacle? Did they have to redo the game due to the lootboxes or was it poorly received even AFTER that was changed due to gameplay issues?

There was a universe where Mirror's Edge was going to become a major franchise?I mean, Ubisoft set up next door with one of their old studio heads, and I imagine the idea had to be to poach the studio.
That said, going into this gen, DICE was pitched as adding Mirror's Edge and Star Wars to their line-up, and they seem to be back to only Battlefield now, so that's going to drive a lot out the door.
How long until Disney pulls that Star Wars license. I give them another year maybe 2
