Just been catching up on speculation about this land... yeah it sounds like Hollywood may be getting screwed here with a land even smaller than USJ, nevermind Orlando. Like only getting the Mario Kart attraction and neither of the other two.

We're fortunate USH is getting anything at all! That place is essentially landlocked and they've had to demolish soundstages to make room. Even USH's Harry Potter had to be downsized from the original USO one (and they did an admirable job)

Quick. Someone tell Andre at Gamexplain so he can go nuts.

EDIT: LOL, right as I post.

My Super Nintendo World sense was tingling :)

For the record folks, when the Orlando park begins its construction, follow bioreconstruct on twitter. He goes up in a plane almost daily to take pictures of construction on various theme park related items all around Orlando, including WDW.

Oh I had no idea USH was getting something. I thought it was just Japan and Florida all this time. This is great for me as I'm in California and can totally check it out.

Wouldn't be the first time Mario cleaned up ET's mess.

The city beautiful
Hot damn. *fist bump*

Between the DK ride patents (simulating a mine car actually jumping the tracks) and the Mario Kart ride patents (screens, rotating rooms, interactive drifting and weapons, etc.) this has serious potential to be amazing, and not just for gamers.
The new HP coaster is already going to have dropping tracks, multi launches and themed up to 11. SML rides are going to crush it with the new tech Uni is putting together.

The bad news is that they'll probably wait to start construction until the 4th gate is announced. :-(

I knowww, it's going to be awesome! The older I get the more these type of ride/coaster innovations excite me more than the race to 500 feet. Not that I wouldn't strap in to the back seat of a 500 foot coaster tomorrow if given the chance, I just like how new tech can advance us past simply higher and faster. My daughter is 17 months so by the time a trip to Universal is worth it for her hopefully it'll all be ready.

Why not just call it Nintendo Land named after the best Wii U game?

Not sarcasm by the way.

Area outlined in red has been demolished since last year. They would need to destroy even more soundstages to expand it more as Transformers is not going anywhere

Cool! Universal Hollywood typically kills rides so I'm glad they're building in a new area. I just hope they get Escape from Gringots some day...I went to Orlando last month and it was the best dark ride ever!

Wouldn't rule it out as so much production is shifting out of Hollywood due to tax incentives. Disney for example only has a fraction of the sound stages universal does.

All Splatoon everything.
That's gonna be for Japan.

Oh no! Hopefully it didn't affect the Adventures of Conan: Sword and Sorcery Spectacular!
They better keep a space for KITT!

Doesn't look like a lot of space, tbh. :/

Yup, it's Universal Studios Hollywood -- they're jammed in there as it is between the 101 freeway, the Hilton, and the NBC offices. Universal is doubling down on the motion simulators in Hollywood because it's the only way to get more attractions into their meager space. I'll be honestly surprised if the replacement for Jurassic Park keeps its footprint the same.

Honestly Universal just needs more actual rides, last time I went it was motion simulator after motion simulator. Started to feel stale pretty quickly. Even the Hogwarts ride was kinda disappointing. At least in the Mummy ride you actually, you know, move.

They should annex part of Citywalk, since the recession that place is a lot less popular and entire areas of it are basically empty even during the summer. Or downsize the backlot and put in an actual themed roller coaster.

At least the tram ride actually physically moves through the King Kong motion simulator...

Don't know how much that would get them... I looked at satellite images (holy shit Google Maps still shows the Gibson Amphitheatre)

Like, maybe you could tear down water world and the last stretch of CityWalk and move the entrance towards that and take some of the immediate parking lot and Saddle Ranch there for some space... but seems like a lot of demo and re-work to not gain much space.

The movie theatre isn't going anywhere.

The iFly stuff on the other side of the theatre is over by the studio tour area so not that useful.

So yeah, maybe by completely re-doing the entrance, taking out Westworld / Parking lot / Saddle Ranch, you could squeeze some more in. It wouldn't even get you anything the size of Hogsmeade tho. Really only one theme park ever has done something that crazy to it's entrance (DCA), but it has been done.

Its possible in the long run. The Stages to the left as far as I can tell haven't been used since 2010 for anything. So if they decide to remove them they could almost double the amount of land currently available. Really just depends on how much they want to lose and how big they intend Nintendo land to really be

Oh god still nothing in Orlando? I want to ride Nintendo attractions before I'm 49, for fuck's sakes! Can we see these before 2030?

Haven't really kept up with the rumors on the USH version. Since they already broke ground, are we expecting a 2.5 year buildout similar to Diagon Alley in USF? Just not sure when to expect it.

If only Universal announced their projects!

With it being smaller space, maybe that might mean this version will be completed sooner.

I'm curious, the Japan version started construction last year right? progress should be pretty decently well along by now right? Anyone know of any construction pictures?

I haven't kept up with rumors for half a year now, but from what I remember the rumors were...

-- Mario Kart dark ride: Uses practical effects and limited interactivity
-- Yoshi omnimover
-- DK Mine cart Coaster (not in Japan, possibly Orlando exclusive)

On top of that there's been rumors of Zelda replacing Lost Continent.

Most of the speculation seems to be Mario/Zelda/Pokemon for IPs that are being talked about.
I saw talk of a Luigi's mansion ride recently but not sure if it's confirmed

This is thought to house the MK ride

Construction was supposed to begin a while ago but they changed their plans and are wondering to make it a bigger part of their rumored 3rd park instead of just adding it to Universal Studios Orlando.

This. It was originally slated to go in and replace the aging kids areas near ET at USF (Fieval's Playland/Barney/Curious George/etc). That seems to have been changed now that the 3rd gate is greenlit on their new property. That being said, in the interim, there are strong insider rumors right now that the remainder of The Lost Continent (save perhaps Mythos, seems to still be in the air at the moment) at IOA will be replaced with a Zelda area. So it's possible the Zelda area will be built in IOA in the short term, and a much bigger Nintendoland will be built at the new park.

I'd also suggest keeping an eye on Screamscape, a website for theme park news and rumours; they'll often link to construction photos.
