If you were in charge of rehabilitating his image, what would you have him do?

I think it's going to follow him around a while regardless, and that's deserved. I think doing good work consistently over time -- proving his value -- that is the only way he could really recover

I'm not sure there is anything you can do. There are certain things, in certain fields, where there is no coming back. This wasn't a one time thing. There's sufficient evidence that every aspect of his career, from the start, was stolen from others. Who even is he? What does he bring to the table? Why should anyone bother to care?

I added to my initial post. But essentially? I want him to fuck off. He fucked people over, he fucked himself over. He's not worth talking about.

You say he loves Nintendo, but didn't he literally coerce one of his co-workers into telling him what questions to ask for a Smash Bros interview?
Jesus you are a terrible person. The guy made a mistake and is asking for forgiveness but your attitude is "fuck off"? Try having some empathy - I highly doubt you are perfect yourself. I am not excusing his actions, just pointing out that people deserve second and third chances.

Pretty much, which is why I think his only strat is doing good work and proving he has something to offer. Incidentally, I don't know what his work is and I've never watched any of his videos

You are literally excusing his actions. A "mistake".

That was a deliberate choice made over and over and over his entire career.

It has nothing to do with "being perfect". Can we not do this.

I'm not saying you have to be mad at the guy and bash him, but call it for what it is.

I don't quite get why so many people demand a public apology. We don't know if he had discussions with his ex-coworkers and people involved and apologised to them. But I don't see (right now) why the public deserved an apology.

Because he committed journalistic fraud and is now asking an audience to trust him again.

You do realize he did this for years right with everything he did? This isn't a fucking mistake. He repeatedly did this over and over and over again

Why the fuck are we having this stupid ass debate again anyway

He's stolen content not just once or twice, but many times - this is beyond being a simple "mistake".

Nick Robinson got publicly kicked out of the industry after countless women came together to talk about hoe he harassed them and basically groomed his own fans.

After waiting a few months he got invited to various events during E3 and published a Tetris Effect video which, as far as I remember, got a million clicks.

This is nothing compared to that. After a month of releasing videos barely anyone will care anymore.

Well, that's disappointing.

People might feel more open to giving him a second chance if he made a genuine and heartfelt apology instead of continuing to pump out manipulative videos.

And a mistake is usually a one time thing. This guy made an entire career out of plagarism. The mistake might be trying to continue to try to sprout roots in journalism after salting the earth.

He seems more sorry that he got caught than anything else, way to throw all of your opportunities out the window.

Plagiarizing tons of other people's work when you're a journalist isn't "making a mistake". And then he monetizes not just one but two apology videos on which he doesnt bother apologizing. And in one he blamed everyone else but himself. He can fuck the fuck off.

His career should be simply in shooting video. You cannot trust him to actually deliver content of any value or sincerity ever again.

This guy's actions are literally the bread and butter that GamerGate uses to harass me and my colleagues. This dude will have to create original content for a long time before his credibility ever recovers, but for now, he can just eat shit.

I still think my favorite bit of his plagiarism was a direct lift of a resume template wording on his LinkedIn page.

Setting aside the irony of calling someone a terrible person sentences before trying to lecture on empathy, the guy plagiarized repeatedly in a career where that's one of the harshest crimes you can commit. No one is asking him to limp off and die somewhere, but he should absolutely find another field to work in.

Nobody wants Jayson Blair working at their paper.

I think if he wants to still work in the same field, he literally needs to take a couple years off. The idea that he dicks off for a couple months after being found out for almost his entire portfolio of work being found out as plagiarized, then first retaliating, then next backing down but not really apologizing or admitting plagiarism (to this day, has he ever admitted to plagiarism?), then thinks he can just come back to review Switch accessories is insane.

Dude needs to realize it's the real world. Being a YouTuber is a job, and he's failed at it spectacularly. I personally don't think he ever needs to be accepted back into the community, but if he does want that, then it's going to take more than a couple months and a half-assed apology (in the comments, no less haha).

But hey! Nick Robinson is currently doing pretty well on YouTube, so clearly some audiences don't have much in the way of ethical standards.

The production on that video is, quite honestly, very good. It is silky smooth and a cut above. The actual insights, and script, are pretty standard-fare. I will be watching to see what happens, because I think it is a pretty interesting situation. He has burned A LOT of bridges. We will have to see if he is able to earn an audience.

Either way, I am not interested in his takes. Still, we will see where he is a year from now.

The idea that people "deserve" second, third and more chances is way to weird for me. People are not entitled to more chances, people earn them working hard and honest.

Do I think he should work? Sure. Everyone needs to work. Do I think he should work in the food services industry? Fuck no.

I don't think you understand what irony is. He made a mistake and is trying to get his life on track - I'm sure you have made mistakes in life but for some reason it seems like you get pleasure out of seeing others fail. I'm not going to respond to the dog piling since my opinion is apparently unpopular so if a ton of people quote me don't expect a response.

He stole reviews, opinions, and a LinkedIn profile all for personal gain. This wasn't a single mistake. It was a series of deliberate acts over the span of years. Forgiving a person for a single mistake, fine. But that isn't what happened here.

I have not made a mistake in my field that would be seen as a career-ender, no. I'm aware of what those mistakes would be and have led my life in such a way as to never commit them.

Are you capable of telling the difference between such mistakes? Do you think every mistake is the same and should be forgiven equally?

Again He didn't make "a mistake". He's made several. For years. Repeatedly. In an industry where plagiarism is literally one of the worst things you could do. Doing it once is a mistakr, twice, even three times could be forgiven. This? This is inexcusable.

Everyone already predicted that a mob of incels and contrarian zombies would likely band together to absolve this chap in the event of a comeback. That audiences cannot particularly be trusted to enforce strict standards where appropriate remains one of the creepiest downsides to the YouTuber age. Were accountability in place, it would be off to McDonald's.

I don't think you understand what "a mistake" is. Dude didn't make "a mistake", singular. His entire career was basically lifted from other peoples' work. If he made "a mistake", and plagiarized once, people would be reacting much differently.

This dude does not deserve a second chance, he's a textbook example of "Only sorry because I was caught".

He accidentally took the necessary steps to plagiarize countless videos, articles and forum posts; even his resume was a copy. Poor guy, he couldn't stop making one mistake after another. Hopefully the 76th chance will be the one.
.....Okay, now *this* part I hadn't heard about. WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT FFFFFFFFFFFFFFF-

Told ya he was going to return at some point (simply because he has never cancelled all his plagiarized reviews), surprised this early when people still remember of him.

Besides everything he did (which should be already more than enough to ignore this guy or flag all his videos), the problem is also that he cares too much about money, you can tell he does for the sponsored reviews, giveaway, the ads, and all the other ways he can monetize, to the point i'm not even sure he enjoys playing games.

Poster acts like he called Mario Odyssey a turn-based strategy game and can't believe we aren't capable of forgiveness while sitting in our glass houses.

With those kinds of journalistic standards it's no wonder we've slipped into the fake news era.

Some people here are crazy. The guy is not a game journalist nor he is working for any news outlet. He was caught using other people's work and he has to live with it. He is a random youtuber like many others now. Is it ok what he did? No, is it ok that he continues doing videogame videos? I guess he lives in a free country, so yes.

Please educate yourself on how serious plagiarism is and how often he did it before you use the term mistake again. There's a reason you're getting dog-piled the way you are, and that's the only way you'll ever understand why.
