It's almost like nobody but a few audio nerds actually cares... :P
Holy shit, now that you put it that way...shut it down folks, you're just being nerds.

This is why I straight-up don't take most reviews seriously anymore when it comes to technical performance.
It's the same ones we posted here earlierI feel the same way. There's a Reddit thread for the reviews, four added to it so far and do any of them mention sound problems? I'll give you two guesses ........

It's frustrating, because now it's pretty much guaranteed to never get fixed.
Oh and by the way, the idea that only "audiophiles" will notice this is just....I don't even know what to say, really.
Same. I definitely can tell there's a difference, but it just not enough to impact on my enjoyment of it, or something that I remain conscious of while I play. I totally sympathise with people who are annoyed by it though, and they should at least release an optional pack of better quality audio if possible.Maybe not audiophile, but you have to be someone that notices audio quality. Like, I really, honestly do not. I can tell the difference in the OP video easily because it's a side-by-side comparison but it's not something I would've noticed otherwise. I certainly didn't notice it in the network test, but I realize I don't notice these things and therefore took the word of people who do notice them, like you.
Wow, that's horrendous. You dont have to be an "audio nerd" to tell this sounds atrocious. You don't even need a side by side comparison. Its so compressed and garbled sounding. Glad I'm skipping this port. This is completely unacceptable in a full priced AND late port.
I linked to the IGN review alongside NLife and NWR :)Not so - the reviews mentioned here are from Nintendo Life and Eurogamer, the reddit thread that I linked to also links reviews by IGN and My Nintendo News (not mentioned in this thread).
Framepacing issues too? Every from game at 30 fps seems to have that really annoying problem, yikes.
Sekiro will be the next test lol.
Which patch is it btw? 1.1.0? There was a patch when I started it up just now but it was 1.0.2your test won't tell us anything worthwhile without the patch being live.
The latter. Can someone explain the button mapping thing? Are the button functions actually in different locations from all other versions or is this just a thing with Nintendo button naming being different?
That's exactly the part we need to figure out.Which patch is it btw? 1.1.0? There was a patch when I started it up just now but it was 1.0.2
Ok one problem already. No way to remap the B and A buttons
The Switch version's audio delivery is going to raise eyebrows. Nothing seemed amiss when I began Dark Souls Remastered in handheld mode. When I dropped it on my television and flipped on my moderately powerful soundbar (yeah, I know), I couldn't believe what I was hearing. It was like there was a level of static laced inside the sound effects and the music, rendering the audio output close to the 32kbps audio files I was stealing in 1999. For whatever reason Dark Souls Remastered's sound files have been horribly compressed and spread across the entire experience. I suppose you could get used to this, but, even as someone who isn't typically conscious of audio quality, this deficiency was alarming.
Neither the Joy-Con and the Pro Controller could be remapped, not addressing that weird disconnect between using A and B to natively confirm items on Nintendo platforms.
Far more reviews on Metacritic -

After reading the reviews I've pretty much had it with these 'reviewers' as it's very obvious that some at least haven't really sat down and played the game properly - I base that on the fact that they would have noticed the terrible audio if they had played it properly. Or maybe they played it handheld only? Or with the sound turned down? Or in a noisy room? Or did they all have versions with good audio (although that seems unlikely).
Or maybe it's that this "fact" is not a fact and just an assumption which isn't always true. As several of us on this page have said, this isn't something everyone will notice unless they hear a side by side comparison.
With the 1.0.2 patch (idk if launch patch), there's still audio compression issues

Nope. Anyone with reasonable hearing and headphones or decent TV speaker should notice the issues even if they haven't played the game before.
As someone who knows absolute jack shit about audio it is incredibly noticeable and incredibly shitty. Like that's some shovelware quality audio. Unacceptable.
And also what the fuck is with B being confirm??? They couldn't put in the tiny work to change that?
Lmao why in the world would it even be there? To taunt the player?Apparently then I don't have reasonable hearing. Who needs an ear doctor when you've got ERA!
There's an option to change the confirm button in the configure menu but for some completely insane reason it's been greyed out.
It is. I'm playing on 1.0.2 here in Japan online, as it launched already yesterday.I don't think 1.0.2 is the launch patch as online still isn't live
Does interacting with other players with messages and stuff require Switch Online?
I doubt Sekiro will be the one to break that tradition. Either they don't think it's important enough to fix, don't know how to fix it, can't fix it because of some underlying engine issue, or maybe they aren't even aware of it. If they wanted to fix it, it would be fixed by now.

Yeah I have no idea. Someone a few pages back posted a theory that Nintendo doesn't allow games to offer the option to reconfigure menu buttons, which is the only possible explanation I can think of outside of downright ineptitude. Still makes zero sense but maybe that's it.
Does this option have to be chosen before a specific point possibly? Like before you ever enter the actual game or something along those lines?
lmao the memories
I mean, something like Horizon PS4 at 30 fps feels incredibly smooth compared to their output. Not being aware would be insane really for a dev. Nothing wrong with 30 by the way even if there are drops but they manage to make it feel like 20 somehow.
The audio is terrible, even on the onboard speakers. Perhaps the people who can't notice it have never heard how other Souls games sound.
