(need to go directly on YT to watch it)

Thanks to this trailer, we learnt more about the Master Trainers and what kind of challenge they'll represent in the postgame.

The Master Trainers dedicated themselves to the training of one Pokemon (lv 75 in the battles for fully evolved Pokemon). You can become Master trainer mainly by beating them in a 1 vs 1 battle, with the same Pokemon and without items. There are 151 of them.

We can see in the trailer that their movesets are built especially to fight a Pokemon of the same species (Thunder Punch for Charizard, Solar Beam for Lapras...) . It probably won't be an easy task, even for the aficionados of the series, to beat them all.

Looks really interesting imo and a good incentive to catch them all.

Metapod vs Metapod is back !

I was interested in this game when it was announced and now have zero interest in it. I'd actually prefer to play Go instead. Doesn't help that my Switch has been in a case unused for months.

I really want to like this game but i'm worried they're going to handhold way too much. Kinda hand holding here with the fact that it's a mirror battle.

This is probably the most interesting thing I've seen from this game so far. Might pick it up if I run out of things to play early next year but I just have too much this year.

I'm into this!

I always thought a big part of my Pokemon experience was talking to my friends playing the game about the different choices I made and stuff like that, so I think becoming the master of all these different Pokemon is actually really cute

Where can I get my Mew?

Also, is it true we can transfer Pokemon from Go into this game?

I really like the idea of Master Trainers. Looks to be a fun challenge for those who want it.

So you can become a Magikarp master? Wow! And surely no co-op to make this trivially easy, I assume.

This... Isn't handholding?
When you're locked into Charizard they can build for speed and rock tomb your ass it's gonna hurt like all hell.
This will actually be challenging.

That's more interesting than I expected but still not what I'd consider a meaty post game.

I love how, at the end of the trailer, they are referecing the anime by bringing back the legendary Metapod vs Metapod battle :p

I quite liked the idea. It's something players can focus on. Obviously I hoped there would be more stuff to do on the post-game but this is a good idea.

Wonder if they will implement Gym rematches as well.

I mean the game is what it is take it or leave it. I'm not sure why people keep coming in to these threads expecting it to be something that it's not.

Mildly interesting, but I can't help but feel that this sort of challenge would be more engaging with the addition of held items and abilities.

so do I need to get level 75 versions of all the pokemon or does it give me a level 75 one to beat them with when I meet them?

Here:
Some Master Trainers will have a simple request for you, but most of them will want to battle! The only catch is that they will only battle against the species of Pokémon they love. You'll need to train up each of your Pokémon to take on these tough challengers. Because these Master Trainer battles are true tests of you and your Pokémon's strength, neither you nor the Master Trainer will be able to use items during the match.

this way they know exactly the type of the Pokemon you're using and can give your opponent a moveset that is guaranteed to give you trouble. Like that Gyarados using thunder, if you don't outspeed it you're most certainly going to lose on the first or second turn.

Man, every single thing they announce about this game just makes it seem wor...

Sorry, force of habit.

This is actually a really neat idea. And, like, the first thing I've seen that is actually a benefit of the reduced roster. They remind me of the challenge fights from SMT4 where you'd be given a set enemy and set team designed around each other.

This is the kind of thing I'd love to see the series experiment with more.

Beating all the master trainers may require some serious grinding but it could be fun to fight against some of them.

This looks really cool. Wonder what prizes will be for beating them all? I was going to try to fill up my Pokédex anyway but this gives me more incentive to do so.

This is a pretty cool idea. Only thing I've seen so far that actually has me interested in the game. Kinda shitty you can't beat the new trainer unless you preorder that pokeball accessory though. That's the only way to get new isn't it? I'm pretty sure you can't transfer mew over from Go

User Warned: “Lazy Devs” Rhetoric. Please review our FAQ.
What a lazy post-game.

I guess that's the best they could do since they already gutted the game of meaningful gameplay mechanics.

I hope this is 'just' one of the post-game elements they offer. Although I can't see there being too much more as this is more than usually offered as post-game.

This sounded kind of cool until... They're just about one Pokemon, that you have to use to face them? And they're doing it for everything :/?
