I don't disagree, but while everyone else is actively moving the plot forward, he just gets resigned to a romantic sidestory.
I do want to see him as part of the main plot, but I also want to see him in overtly romantic situations.

Betty and Jughead are all over each other and they still get to do other stuff.

Man the Archie storyline is so wack compared to the Gargoyle King shit.

This horror mystery stuff is what I originally wanted Riverdale to be like. I know the answer may be something mundane and ordinary in the end but for now I'm enjoying the ride.

Hopefully this Archie jail shit ends soon.

Agreed, but the show is too big for just that, I doubt it's what mainstream audiences want, sadly.

Oh boy. Mad dog is such a rich and compelling character. I'm sure he has a bright future on this show.

Archie to me was always comedy and solving mysteries. The Gargoyle King stuff is amazing, but Shawshank redemption Archie shit is meh.

At least we have Sabrina coming up, but there probably won't be a lot of mystery involved.

They ripped off that parents scene from The Runaways

Also my tactic to fast forward, mute or change channels whenever Jughead and Betty or Jughead are on screen has made the show 10x more enjoyable

Ha I love Shawshank Archie as much as True Detective Jugs. Been a while since we had a good musical number out of nowhere. The parents coming together for whatever the fuck that was is the icing on the cake. Edgar Evernever is my new favorite character and we haven't even seen him yet.

I kind of feel like the handling of Kevin is a bit insulting. Main cast member = gets to have a sidestory where he stalks Moose?

Still better off than Josie, though.
Veronica has it worst of all. Literally her entire existence this season so far has revolved around Archie.

AVClub put it best:

But then it's also apparent that the Veronica character has become one that completely defines herself by her boyfriend. It's not cute when Veronica's promising to hold things down at school for her "Archiekins" to his father (and two other adult men who don't care) or when she starts a conversation with Weatherbee by calling herself "Archie's girlfriend"—it's just sad. While it's admirable to stand by her man and want to help save him, for two episodes in a row, Veronica has had nothing going on besides Archie. It doesn't help that Veronica's only other hobbies are "saying things Upper Eastsiders are supposed to say to sound interesting," "Betty sometimes dragging her into investigations," and "maybe a speakeasy." As soon as it stopped being Veronica/Hermione against the world, the show really began highlighting all of Veronica's weaknesses but none of her strengths.

She's a nothing character at this point.

Yo this prison shit needs to end. Like fuck. Just go back to Archie making songs in his spare time and show him with the football team or something.

Also I don't see it mentioned yet but does anyone think that Evelyn character is just a hallucination?

So, a crazy theory about the gargoyle king and the Sabrina crossover.
A direct crossover between current Riverdale and Sabrina characters won't happen. Also, the time periods kind of don't match.
Since the whole GK nonsense started when the parents were young, maybe we will have some young versions of parents appearing on Sabrina?

I'm done with Shawshank Archie as well. I thought it was stupid he took the plea deal as they had no evidence on him. The fact they immediately slapped that plea deal out shows what a weak hand they had to play. It'll probably come out later some of those jurors were paid off by Hiram which releases Archie or something. But I'm not feeling the prison story-line right now unless they can somehow tie it into everything else. I also thought Jailhouse Rock as a musical interlude was weak and poorly done - come at me. :P

This game is probably what parents thought playing Dungeons and Dragons would lead too back in the day when that was a thing parents worried about lol.

The girl playing Evelyn reminds me of Olivia Cooke. Makes me wish they'd cast her lol

I'm sure RAS has seen Thoroughbreds, too.

I love that Betty and Jughead are now facing literal Witcher 3 monsters, but it's going to be disappointing when all of this escalating supernatural stuff is revealed to be 100% real-world explainable.

I am 100% behind this idea. It feels like a midseason/sweeps reveal.

Fight Club Archie LMAO

This stupid Archie prison plot has gone from Shawshank to Longest Yard to A Prayer Before Dawn in like a single episode. I'm so in for this bullshit.

Really enjoyed this episode. It felt like peak Riverdale bullshit without the narrative flailing of most of the latter half of the second season. They've almost washed the taste of Papa Poutine out of my mouth. Also this D&D plot feels like it is approaching Jack Chick levels of hysteria around D&D. Good times.

Well the kids are playing their parents in a flashback episode so it could work.

Still holding hope it's not but yeah that would be the obvious choice. Hopefully they lead us to believe it's not supernatural and then pull the rug out from under us.

Also this show is dumb as hell. The prison stuff is so bananas. I just kept thinking "this show is bad" every step of the way but I won't stop watching.

That's because the show is actually good. It may not have emmy worthy writing or plots that make sense and it's completely bonkers but it's also incredibly entertaining.

I have a simple rule:

Entertaining = good
Boring = bad

This prison shit is so exhausting already. It's so transparently written to be excuses to put Archie in tight shirts or no shirts all the time.

The fact that all the parents (even Hiram!) have a Locke and Key-esque death pact from 30 years ago that ties directly into the woods monster shit is pretty intriguing, though. I want to see where that nonsense is heading.

This show keeps pulling me back in. I watched episode 2 when I wasn't going to at all. I instinctively went to the channel and just watched it. The prison stuff wasn't great but everything else had my eyes glued to the TV.

My girlfriend pulled me into the room to watch Archie's prison speech.

Holy fucking shit.

Holy.

Fucking.

Shit.

I fucking... Why? Just fucking why?

They so want us to believe Archie is this leader among men, but really he's just the loudest stupid person in a room full of other stupid people.
