As a casual playoff watcher for years, can someone explained wth happened? Was Wiley just a decoy or something? I've never even heard of anything like this before.

this is what hurts pace of play. bullpen games, review after review. I sure hope we get away from this pitching by committee thing and start developing real starting pitchers.

As a very very casual watcher of baseball.. this is really annoying to watch. I can understand the point and all that, but man it really kills my enjoyment. Maybe I need to drink more during games.

That's how I've survived being a Brewers fan most of my adult life.

only way I know how to solve this would to make hitting the ball in play more valuable. I am not sure how to do that. Pitchers are too good these days so the priority is more power and less contact. Hard to string together lots of hits so its better to get a Walk and a HR or 2B.

I wouldn't want to ban the shift to increase the average on balls in play or ban reliever usage to get longer starts.

Maybe for the playoffs have less days off. And idk reduce the roster sizes?

Maybe the pitch clock would solve some of this, less rest per pitch, then again pitchers like Foltynewicz can throw 98 for 100+ pitches and work super quickly. So that may not reduce velocity and strikeouts.

Change is inevitable, and lets not act like it's any more or less detrimental to the stupid shit we've seen throughout the years in the game.

I don't think anyone on either of these teams wants to hit the rest of the series.

Edit: I say that as Cain finally decides to show up to play.
