You mean those people who like tactical slow-paced gameplay will abandon PUBG to an arcadey fast pace iteration?
Yeah, pretty much. I'm an Arma player, like slower paced tactical shooter and I've 100% dropped PUBG for Blackout purely based on consistent performance while not having building mechanics.

If you hold yourself to very low standards then sure.
No. Blackout is devoid of tension. Shooting feels weak and basic. The sound design for getting shot at feels cheap. There's a lot of polish, but PUBG actually has some attention to detail that Blackout doesn't. I bet Treyarch will get there, but for me, there's still reason to go back to PUBG. At least as someone who plays BR games solo a lot of the time.

I think it's more of a replacement than you think. The average BR player pool isn't exactly dedicated to a single game's mechanics. Fortnite is probably the only BR that won't be heavily gouged by Blackout because it has the building attribute. Going from PUBG to Blackout isn't a huge leap at all. Mechanics are different and the game is faster but the speed and performance are what will appeal to people.
It's not about specific mechanics, it's about overall game feel. PUBG, for all of its jank, is still a game that feels more tactical on a moment to moment basis. A game where things like positioning and understanding sight lines has a much more obvious moment-to-moment relevance and importance to the gameplay and to the outcome of each fight. Blackout is awesome and what it brings to the table is bound to appeal to a lot of PUBG players regardless (because Blackout doesn't need to be a 1:1 replacement of a game to get people playing Blackout instead of that other game - we've all only got a few hours to work with in a day, after all). The intensity of PUBG is different than the intensity of Blackout, though, and I like PUBG's intensity more, personally. I'm far from the only one, either. The heartpounding sensation that comes from nervously positioning myself in bad cover because I'm certain someone will creep up behind me as the wall closes in (a hunch based on nothing more than the location of the circle, measured against the geography of the map and the path the drop-off plane took)... that's the shit I missed when I played Blackout, replaced with the moment-to-moment intensity of your average round of MP Call of Duty, which didn't speak to me so much in a large-scale BR format.

777 hours in ArmA 3 and over 1000 in ArmA 2, here. And I dropped Blackout like a rock after giving it an honest shot for three days straight. Went back to PUBG promptly thereafter. Although that doesn't detract from your larger point, I just wanted to give myself as an example of someone who's into that tactical shooter experience and still finds PUBG entertaining enough.

Although I will also suggest that ArmA 3 PUBR is still the very best and most feature-packed BR game on the market, despite the mil-sim jank. It's far ahead of what PUBG is right now. It was far ahead of what PUBG is right now, before PUBG debuted. Makes me wonder if any of these ArmA-mod-cum-standalone-releases are ever going to match up to the OG and its permutations.

Blackout is just phenomenal, playing splitscreen with a friend gives the same vibes as playing the original Halo back in the day.
I lost my mind seeing the option and then tried to play with my girlfriend in blackout split screen but when she presses X to sign in, the game kept crashing and getting an error. I reported the error and we just gave up.
I have a playstation plus account but my girlfriend does not. she has a profile on my ps4 and she is able to play other games online on my console.
What am I doing wrong?

I went back to Siege the other day, can't believe I've been playing PUBG for almost a year. The game still runs like dog shit on Xbox, and Bluehole is doing a terrible job supporting it. I think I'm locked back into Siege. I'm sure many of these CoD customers feel similarly about PUBG.

I won't disagree on how different the moment to moment feels, especially positioning. I just don't think it will matter to a large group of PUBG players. Could be completely wrong on this but the performance and lack of jank is going to be the determining factor. As a PUBG player I know I'm tired of it and am completely willing to give up that slower tactical feel for a stable game that isn't Fortnite.

Sounds like you're doing nothing wrong, but they are constantly updating it so maybe it'll work if you try again or if it still doesn't work, delete it and redownload the patch again perhaps.

For us it was a simple matter of pressing x on the other controller, choosing the second players account and that was it.

Bobo hasn't been out a week so of course there's going to be some drop-off. Let's have this discussion 6 months or a year from now. It's simply too soon to make declarative statements about this now.

Can you believe Bluehole finally 'fixed' the controls on Xbox? @ PTS

And by 'fixed' I mean they just increased the maximum turn sensitivity.

Aim acceleration is still broken. It's always on when hip aiming no matter your sensitivity. Turning AA off doesn't turn AA off - it just makes the AA incredibly slow, while simultaneously completely breaking ADS sensitivity to the point where it takes 3 whole seconds to do a 360 degree spin no matter your ADS sensitivity settings. And so on, and so forth. Instead of fixing issues that have been reported since day 1, Bluehole does their own thing. And I'm pretty sure that 'their own thing' is them just making small changes to old PC builds and then pushing them to Xbox...

It's like they don't know what they're doing at all. Shit is so transparently half-hearted.

Hopefully Shroud and Ninja continue teaming up with each other and other content creators and keep showing how far superior this is to PubG.

They just need to support/improve the game with half as much enthusiasm as EPIC does with Fortnite for the next couple months and CoD even on PC will continue to rise where it usually had a really low standing compared to the console versions.
Would be nice if the few non-cheaters from PubG simply transition over to CoD.
Bluehole wants the cheaters so they can keep them and maybe a much better competitor on the market in the same genre might make them start caring and improve the game.

Devoid of tension? LMFAO. You must be playing a different game than I am. Blackout has excellent tension (at least for me) and shooting is miles ahead of any BR game.

Call of Duty engine always been super smooth with fantastic audio and visual feedback. Hence why this franchise is still so popular to this day.

Quit smoking whatever your on bro. Drugs are not good for you.

Terribly closed-minded. Some drugs even increase the tension. You wouldn't believe the shit I've seen.

Like Shroud said, its a nice change of pace, but he ultimately prefers PUBG. PUBG has a hardcore audience that will not leave it. And you can bet those numbers will spike again when Map 4 is released, and people will tire out of Blackout's 1 map for the entire lifetime of its existence.
If its anything like Miramar it will bleed more of the population. Can't wait till we can turn that shit map off in the Xbox version

Your post makes 0 sense. And if you're trying to tell people that drugs are okay then your a horrible person. You can get someone killed like that. Keep it up. Anyways enjoy your drugs.

PUBG seems like a more successful DayZ but on much the same trajectory quality wise.

This was inevitable, but this isn't a sprint, what matters is how the figures are months after the launch of the competitor.

Oh shit. I didn't do that. I first had my girlfriend log into her account and then press x to join my session. Will try pressing x first and then have her select her account. Thanks for the advice.
Game is really awesome.

I knew it...day 1 numbers aren't the end game here. This is a long term investment.

It will shift further the more incentives Activision gives to Battle Royale players, or if it goes standalone.

Some really dumb takes in the previous thread saying there's no way it would happen...give it time...it will...

YouTube was down (which is almost unheard of) yesterday. Is it possible Bobo is chipping away at YouTube as well?

Also seems possible that Bobo killed iron fist

So was I :) Ever heard of playing along?
I'm genuinely sorry for not catching that. This thread (among others) is why. I'd have seen your post for what it was if Poe's Law didn't get me :p

I recall seeing someone make a post oddly similar to the one you posted above, even. Suffice it to say, there are people on this forum who are actually that aggressive when it comes to decrying drug use of any kind.

I'm glad it did. Blackout is a much more polished game. PUBG is a laggy mess. I prefer PUBG's tactical gameplay but quality should come first and CoD deserves the success.

Didn't PUBG ban like a hundred thousand people last week? That has to count too.
This should be in the OT and a mod should update the thread title to reflect this.

OP should have did some research before making this thread honestly. Not saying BLOPS didn't bring the numbers down, but to omit this info makes it seem like the OP has something against PUBG. You have no concrete evidence to make this claim.

Eh, it's just a matter of numbers now, I guess.

Regardless, PUBG will always have a playerbase no matter how much people want it to fail.

This reminds me of "Halo killer" kind of stuff.
