The thread title might be a bit confusing.

This is Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Complete Edition.

(In Japan it's called 7 since they're a number behind.)

Will it be like the Complete Edition on the PS4 that still had a few hundred dollars of DLC available?

No western release date either. Which probably means we wont get it. Damn shame.

It's not as obtuse as their strategy games, so it'll certainly come stateside.

NA is literally launching WO4 this week (including Switch), so I'm sure they're waiting to get the message out before there's any risk of sending gamers the wrong message.

Game runs like piss on a ps4, so going to assume its locked at 30.

Would be cool for it too come west, musou games would suit portable well.

Guys, I'm kind of a noob in the musou games. The only musou I've played was Hyrule Warriors on the Wii U and it was a surprise hit for me. I played it for 300 hours and it's on my top 3 for the console, so I'm considering buying another one if there is a sale by the end of the year.

What are the other musou games available in English on the Switch? These are the ones I know of, am I missing anything?

- Warriors Orochi 4
- Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition
- One Piece Pirate Warriors 3 Deluxe Edition
- Fire Emblem Warriors

I think those are it for now, aside from Attack on Titan 2, but does that count? There's a lot still stuck in Japan though:

Dragon Quest Heroes 1 & 2
Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires
Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Complete Edition DX
Samurai Warriors: Spirit of Sanada
Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate

I think that's it?

That's about it.

It's missing 8 Empires, Spirit of Sanada, and Warriors Orochi 2 (3) Ultimate

You can add Attack on Titans 2, it shares a lot of mechanics with a musou (and it's the same publisher).

This one has framerate problems every console it's on. Why did they choose this one to port to Switch? Why not Dynasty Warriors 9, which is better than 8 in every way? And it's not available on a portable platform. I'm beginning to think even Koei don't take Switch seriously.

9 was both ugly and didn't run well. Plus the fact it wasn't well received, are you getting them mixed up?

9 has open world aspect and I think it was very fun. And it run much better than 8. I had 8 on both Vita and PS3 and framerate dips were awful and too often. I even had all three versions of 8 on PS3. I mean they're all ugly and repetitive games compared to better series Samurai Warriors but compared to just 8, 9 was definitely better.

But they're all irrelevant on Switch as switch also has Orochi, best in the series.

If you didn't like 8 due to framerate problems, I'm not sure how you can prefer 9...

I have 8 and the 8 series games on PS4. 9 is just meh. The bugs are meh, same weapon skills for a lot of people are meh, Open World is meh, everything about the game is mediocre.

On the other hand 8 Complete (whatever the heck non Empires version is called) is an outstanding Musou game. It runs very well on a PS4.

Great but i don't think we will see it in the west.

I'm waiting for the next big project for KT that is also coming to the Switch (hoping it's Fatal Frame)

DW9 is probably the worst DW: it has soo many bugs, it was broken and one of the worst attempt at making an open world game i've ever seen.

I don't think KT will ever return to that.

Really? Because it runs like ass on PS3, even worse on Vita (it's a fucking slideshow there). I don't know how they managed to do that, as DW7 run very well on Xbox 360.

The costs of porting must be pretty low for them to keep porting these games to Switch for a few thousand sales in Japan. Or maybe Omega Force is just low on work at the moment with Toukiden dying :(

It's not as obtuse as their strategy games, so it'll certainly come stateside.

NA is literally launching WO4 this week (including Switch), so I'm sure they're waiting to get the message out before there's any risk of sending gamers the wrong message.

This one's already localized, as is 8 Empires, so it's not really a case of obtuse. I much prefer Empires anyway since vanilla musou can get a bit dull.

Game runs like piss on a ps4, so going to assume its locked at 30.

FWIW, if you want portable Musou you can get this on Vita, although as you say it runs kinda poorly (as it does on PS4).

Wonder if Koei is just waiting to release all of these in the west on the same day like they did in Japan.

It's a PS4 and not a PS3 where multiplats were often substandard due to hardware layout.

You are comparing different gen of consoles which is pointless. Plus DW9 has a lot of issues with frame rate even on PS4 latest patch.

I love HW but hear bad things about WO4 and DW9.

DW8 was well received and pretty solid. Massive amount of content too.

Only real complaints is that separate kingdom mode(where you build up a city and recruit new officers to both fight for you and perform various tasks to flourish your land) is pretty dull and repetitive. It's very necessary to unlock a lot of the game content too. Just a lot of upkeep and a lot of grinding doing minor skirmishes and whatnot. Neat idea, but not well executed. The 'core' Musou mode is great though. Large maps, lots of mission objectives that funnel your forces dynamically through them. The weapon triangle system works quite well(Fire Emblem Warriors works kind of similarly). It's got problems, but its up there as one of the good ones.

Koei were just asking for trouble by putting "complete" in the title. Apparently it just referred to the fact that it included both the original DW8 as well as the XL expansion (the Japanese title was Shin Sangoku Musou 7 with Moushouden). I'm curious if the Switch version will include all of the DLC, but I have a feeling the DLC will only be unlocked if you own the other Switch ports.

You sure about the framerate? Because they have patched the game and people are saying they are getting around 60 FPS now on action mode.

I still haven't tried it though so I could be wrong.

I haven't played for a month at least but before then it was iffy. The game itself is fairly mediocre but I got it on the cheap so didn't mind. I'll try it out again I guess.

FUCK YES!

I don't quite like the DW8 compared to 7 but is still one of the absolute best Musou games ever made.

Now we just need to get Samurai Warriors 4 and 4-II~
