Origin Access is basically a "new to PC gaming" sub service it seems like. Great value overall, but a lot of the games are A.) Good and old, B.) have been discounted or bundled heavily. And so anyone that's likely to be a deal saavy person (as in, likely to maybe sub to services like this) probably has everything already.

Same thing with that Discord store so far. Hard to get excited for it when my Amazon Prime sub got me those games (if I didn't have them already) a long time ago, plus the other services that Prime has.

That's not what they're saying in that tweet, Discord has its own drm and it's the devs choice to use it or not.
https://discordapp.com/developers/docs/dispatch/branches-and-builds#drm
You can choose to add DRM to your game. Dispatch will wrap your executables and prevent a user from launching the game if they are not logged into Discord.

We'll find out tomorrow. There's only two real possibilities: either the remaster was such that they could stick the old assets back in there and have it all just work (in which case, it's going to look very bad), or they re-exported the assets at normal resolutions and used the old FMVs (in which case, it will probably look fine).

I'm afraid of the former, definitely. That makes it not so much an optional download.
The base size is still more than twice as large as the original. That's got to come from somewhere, and I'm guessing it's from the textures being a power of two larger.

That was my guess as well, but it seems to be a lot of work in the short amount of time they had (it's been less than two weeks since they posted the system requirements and people complained).

I don't remember how the size broke down for the SO4 assets to make any reliable assumptions. The new textures (just smaller) seems the most likely source, but we won't really know until tomorrow.

Last minute reminder, RimWorld is finally leaving Early Access and hitting 1.0 tomorrow Oct 17th. The price may rise as well, but I don't think it's been confirmed as a definite yes or no. The dev did say that they have a no-sale-price policy for the foreseeable future, so now might be the time to bite if you've been interested. If you have Humble Monthly you can get it on the Humble Store for the 10% off and save a few bucks at least.

Some people might see that graphics and the $30 price tag and not give it another look, but I hope they do. RimWorld is a very deep and engaging game that anyone interested in survival, building, and management will likely love. You'll also get great emergent stories from everything that happens with your colony and its people. It's just an amazing game.
It's also great for those of us(like me) that want to play a Dwarf Fortress like game, but have trouble getting into DF itself, and want something a bit more approachable.

When people ask me what makes PC gaming unique (spoiler: they never do), I point to RimWorld and Crusader Kings 2 as the greatest PC exclusives of all time.

Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing, the first game, is locked to 30 FPS and is your basic run of the mill kart racer themed game.

Transformed doesn't have an FPS lock, and has a different cast as well as different stages. The game's gimmick is that certain paths will transform you vehicle into an aircraft or water jet-like vehicle.

Both are decent games IMO and the first game has a few characters not in Transformed like Zobio and Zobiko from House of the Dead series.

Oh yeah those.
All I can say is that they are more tolerable without having to deal with motion controls :V

So with Fallout 76 less than a month away is there any chance Bethesda makes their client not shit between now and then?

Downunder.
transmission sucks tho(at least on windows)

To be honest I haven't really used the Transmission standalone client for a fair while. I used transmission-daemon and transmission-gui to manage it. I know I should really used rakshasa/rTorrent as the number of torrents I'm seeding grows, but it's always a pain to switch clients, so I left it the way it was for so long.

With the developer's announcement and with it getting so much praise from people like yourself I picked it up on humble and used my 10% off discount since that's technically the only way to get a discount.

Interesting!

Why would you use anything else than qbittorrent?

Yeah this one is nice, it's like utorrent without the bullshit and shady ties. So if you're used to the settings and UI of uTorrent, qbtorrent is the easiest one to jump to.

For Linux I use Transmission. Or I did for a while anyway. Haven't messed with Linux in a while, ubuntu circa 2013 lol.

I always known you for a person with impeccable taste in games, Knurek. But that ad-laden uTorrent client has to go. It's not Anno Domini 1998 anymore.
Use something decent like transmission-daemon, for instance.
Yeah, I hadn't used uTorrent in a while, switched to Tixati, just forgot to change the pinned icon.

Hey, what was that FPS game a la Duke Nukem? Not Serious Sam. Someone put up a link a few days ago and I didn't bookmark. The guy says hilarious one liners while blasting away.

The second season of Telltale Batman game is pretty great so far. Story moves faster than before they got better at putting players between a rock and a hard place.

MS doesn't give a shit about how well it works, what's important to them is being able to display their shitty game bar on top of your games. And they can't do that for actual full screen games (unlike everyone else) since that would undermine their UWP story.

It's nasty business. I can understand the need for apps across multiple devices, but MS' work on replacing Win32 with UWP on desktop has been shambolic. The crashes, lost functionality, and UI inconsistencies alone drive me nuts.

How was Fallout 4? Did not follow it at all. Wondering if I should try that or go for 76. Heads up I only played Fallout 3 and enjoyed it, Elder Scrolls never floated my boat, no 3, 4, or 5.
