So, I've been playing Valleys Between and I just realized they changed one of the main aspects of the game (to make it easier?)... no matter how many trees you combine, you always get 5 pieces of new land. There is no reason to try to combine 5 at a time anymore, because you will get 5 land even if you combine 2 trees...

Also, I am playing until 1000 years easily without losing any life and then BOOM out of nowhere the game starts placing fire and factories everywhere. Once I came with 3 life to 1200 years and I lost the game before 1500. Wtf. This could be to balance the change they made that I explained on the paragraph above...

Game just got a lot less interesting.

I don't know how it was before, bought Valleys Between yesterday and played like 4 hours straight (it's different from what I thought but it's pretty addicting).
While when you match 2 trees you always get one more row, if you match more trees (over 2) you transform them in simple earth, and this could be useful in certain circumstances.
My top score is 1710, achieved it with the unicorn or the initial fox.
I unlocked more animals but I don't understand how useful the big ones can be....they are slow as hell.
I prefer the small or medium ones but I have to tinker more with them....as I see impossibile scores on the leaderboards.
Nice game....I've noticed that (compared for example to Triple town) after 1000 it's more important to have even land where you can walk/swim freely more than matching things (I didn't find anything to match after the 'town').
I also have yet to understand the importance of flowers...which I honestly noticed only because there are quests about those.
Need to play more....

I have no idea why having flowers is good (seems like just a new way of creating quests).

Speaking of ports....has been Teslagrad delayed?
I thought it should be out next week...now it's slated for 8 November.
Tried the free steam demo and liked what I saw...but I wonder how controls will be.
I confess I had my share of problems even with the keyboard.

Indeed, was originally slated for October 24th, delayed to the 8th of November.

Hope they include MFi controller support for these kind of ports.

You really have to see it in motion.
It's super optimized too.
I'm not sure the drive of getting new emoticons will be enough for me, but some parts are truly magical (like the forest), it's almost like playing Breath of the Wild on my iPhone.
I'm stunned by the artistic and technical achievement.

Just picked up an iPad Pro 12.9", mainly for the drawing/creative apps but I can't help but want to try a few games on this baby.

Civ6 is highly tempting, I was a bit gutted to find out the trail didn't let you save your game. Is it worth the £22 price tag? I was going to buy it on the switch so I could play COOP with the SO but touch screen is so tempting.

Any other suggestions on some must haves?

If you've never played these games then do so right away:

  • Device 6
  • Oddmar
  • Binding of Isaac: Rebirth
  • Steredenn
  • Kero Blaster
  • Infinity Blade
  • The Room: Old Sins

Civilization VI is a beast of a game, on the iPad. There are several great games I haven't played. These are ones I wouldn't want to be without.

- Minecraft (the full experience, and it runs great, especially with an MFI controller)
- FTL: Faster Than Light (easily one of the best games on iPad, especially with the Apple Pencil)
- Motorsport Manager 2/3 (deep racing management/sim; I've only played 2, but 3 looks much better in several aspects)
- Civilization VI (biggest experience; watch out for Tropico for iPad, coming this Fall)
- Stardew Valley (excellent farm sim, coming October 24)
- Card Crawl (best card game, pt. 1)
- Solitairica (also the best card game, pt. 2)
- Reigns series (Reigns: Game of Thrones coming October 18)
- Alto's Adventure/Alto's Odyssey (relaxing and beautiful, but with enough tension to keep you awake)
- Don't Starve (classic, excellent on the iPad; includes the Reign of Giants DLC, MFI support)
- Crashlands (addictive adventure, MFI support)
- The Room series (1-4)
- Warbits (great Advance Wars clone)
- Through the Ages: A Story of Civilization (essential; easily the best board game)
- Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions (best version of this classic)
- Infinity Collection (Bladur's Gate I & II, Icewind Dale, and Planescape: Torment)

You two are absolute stars! I'll check all these games out, I wish the app store had a wishlist feature so I could go through and save the ones I wanted for pay day!

Is here anyone else playing Sky that wants a new friend, to solve the most complex puzzles together?
Anyone knows when the game will be finally out?
Some friends of mine just saw it and can't wait to play as well.

I'm currently in the Wasteland and it's absolutely, gloriously spectacular (TOTALLY different since I last went there, last year).
Even in beta, even if I met no one.

The cutscenes are among the most evocative I ever saw.

Still no date at all. Given the changes, I'm gonna wait until the final release to play it with everyone else when it's finally out.

Your screenshots are really gorgeous by the way.

I see....was thinking the same...but damn....some parts are truly glorious.
I must be strong and try not to play then....

Did you try the game recently?
They added SO MUCH.

As it took me ages to find out, if someone played the beta before and wonder how to see things from the start again....when you are in the initial splash scree with the shrine in the water....skip the first pillar, and go to the one that brings you back to the AVIARY...which is the zone after the tutorial (sort of a hub).
From there you can reach various zones, some are brand new, some are the old ones but much more refined, with new mechanics and things, cutscenes and all.

been playing the beta and couldn't really get into it. I'm hoping the Apple TV version is still coming too

Did you play it recently?
Last time I tried, long ago, I had up and downs....not a fan of getting emotes as a form of in game progress, but still some parts were wonderful and the exploration immersion was great.
Now they added many new things...including places where you must have certain emotes to activate things (sort of item puzzles, just with emotes)....so you have to actively look for things to get past certain zones (which make the experience much more a game).
Console controls in this version are WAY better than the old ones too.

Anyway, on their website (not updated since ages tough) they still say timed exclusive fro iPhone, iPad and Apple TV.

After being announced so long ago, the lack of any release info on Sky has been really annoying.

Bad North coming to iOS? was looking at their website and says this: "~ iOS and Android releases TBD ~". Theres hope

Im staying as far away as possible from that game until the final season is complete. Avoid possible spoilers at all costs!

It was actually coming to iOS and Android first and was announced like that at first. Then Switch came along.

As for GoT, there's absolutely 0 spoilers for the last season in there.

Wonder how much longer TA will be around. That place is dead compared to the old days. Lurk over there to see if I miss anything and sometimes can be hours between posts.

Know they struggle for revenue and with much less traffic, I don't know.....

It's the first commercial game for that very small team so they are still finding their feet with respect to handling and communicating about updates.

Speaking of which, I haven't posted about any of our updates for a while. We'e been continually updating Into the Dead 2 since it launched just over a year ago, which has included a ton of new content and additional depth.

Our latest update and related event this week is our first movie IP integration, celebrating the 50 year anniversary of the classic Night of the Living Dead. Trailer below if you are interested in playing through the event kicking off later this week.

Between asking for money and posting about their seemingly-inevitable doom, I would guess a year or two, at most. They tend to cover a large majority of F2P and P2W games which hold little to no interest to me. I like their weekly what's out post and little tidbits about upcoming releases. However, I can find most of their premium game coverage here, on Reddit, or Twitter, first.

For those that want Civ 6 on Android, I have a sneaking suspicion it'll be sooner rather than later.

Think about it, they only had the game optimized for tablet screens and resolutions until the most recent update. At that time it made sense to only have it on iPad because there is a bigger market for that kind of game on iOS, and LOL at publishing a tablet-only game on android. But now that it's optimized for phones I could definitely see Fireaxis porting over the game to android not long from now.

Yeah i visited it the other day out of curiosity and... yes i agree seems like is slowly dying... and the new design doesnt help is ulgy... and they banned too many people over nothing... all their choices are slowly leading to their doom... shame since the place used to help out so many indie devs...

Final Fantasy Tactics was updated to add iPhone X support!!! Awesome news that hopefully means other older FF games will get the same support.

Speaking on TA, it is flabbergasting to me that no real enthusiast media has developed around mobile. It is clearly a huge portion of gaming (speaking about revenues) and I feel that current games coverage does a poor job at following mobile.

I've heard people say that the market moves too quickly, but I would assume that is a benefit rather than a negative, and I think one of the key issues is that I have not really seen any outlet embrace the speed. I think an outlet that combines written pieces with video coverage, and has robust community features (such as a lively forum) to cover up any gaps, may find success in today's environment. I think that if they leverage all platforms—twitch, youtube, patreon—and build a robust sponsorship pipeline (think big time youtubers), they could be financially viable. I think TA was close, but their video output was poor, and they focused too much on the whales rather than covering new releases. Not to mention the constant posts for funding/spelling out their doom that was mentioned above.

With the death of Pocket Tactics (it appears that they are solely interested in rehashing "best of" lists ad nauseam), it is definitely a somber time for mobile game coverage.

FYI Reigns: Game of Thrones has started propagating.

A friend of mine in Singapore who had preordered it found the game automagically downloaded on her device 30 minutes ago.

Seems like a lot of the few people that were left did so after that redesign.

And as far as posts, probably 90% are from one person (nyanpass?). I don't even know how he/she finds the time to post that much. Lol

Dragon Quest series comes to mind. At least 1-3 are only playable in portrait, and allow you to save wherever. Very mobile friendly.

If you are feeling more adventurous, and are willing to put up with some jank/poor translation in exchange of some neat design, Buriedbornes is a mainstay in my phone. It is a bit impenetrable at first, but it clicks fairly quickly and is my go-to when I want a quick RPG fix.
