So I just bought an empty game case on Amazon.

Was it from a reseller?

This happened to my friend once with GTA V from Amazon. Game was factory sealed and there was no disc inside.

I have a feeling someone managed to take the disc out then resealed it (I remember reading it was somehow possible) and then returned it.

I remember when he contacted Amazon they refunded him immediately.

Bought an empty DVD box of A Clockwork Orange at Target once. Still had the shrink wrap and stickers on it but there was nothing inside.

I did once, on purpose.

Has this ever happened with an Xbox game where they have that extra seal on the side?

I assume they mean from someone else selling on Amazon.

Contact Amazon Support and request the game. If the web support are rude, call them instead.

I got a copy of Ico from target that was sealed, was able to exchange with no issue

Probably fullfilled by Amazon third parties infecting Amazon's bins with empty cases.

I ordered An American Werewolf in London on blu-ray from them. I got the HD-DVD version in the blu-ray case. Might as well have been empty.

Check if it was Sold and/or Fulfilled by Amazon.

I got a sealed envelope with nothing in it from them once, lol. It was supposed to contain Bravely Second.

Just contact support, which is usually really good on this sort of thing. In my case they immediately sent a replacement at no cost.

I remember when I bought a PS3 Resident Evil 5 at Wallmart and got a blank CD ROM. Game was sealed.

Fortunately they replaced the game.

Happened to me once. Game was sealed and everything. It was a copy of Ittle Dew 2 for the Switch.

This has happened to me twice. Well, once it was this and the other time it was a (completely sealed) case with a blank cd-r inside (the games were The Last Guardian and Horizon, respectively). In both cases it's my recollection that Amazon was able to refund me same-day.

Amazon will replace it before you even send the other back most likely their customer service is pretty good. They will believe you its not a big deal but a inconvenience for you.

Never had this from Amazon, but I got Gex for Christmas years ago and when I opened the jewel case, no disc. :(

Had this happen to me a year or two ago when purchasing one of the Dragon Quest DS remakes from Amazon Warehouse. Returned it with zero issues and purchased it off someone on Ebay for essentially the same price.

This stuff worries me due to the the unopened games I've got laying around, some for quite a while.

I've gotten a few CDs and games shipped without cases. Really annoying if you weren't expecting it

Amazon really does sell everything you can think of

I once bought a game from Amazon and it was the EU edition (I ordered the US version) and I contacted them and the person gave me a real attitude about how the PS4 is region free. I contacted someone else and they let me keep the EU version and sent me a US version as well.

I don't understand how you got a sealed, empty game. Hopefully Amazon can make it right.

They have good customer service so yea, go ahead and chat with them asap.

This happened to my sister with a DVD she bought at a store. I imagine some instances of this are just manufacturing mistakes.

I used to work in alcohol distribution, and we'd occasionally (though very rarely) get a case with an empty six pack, or a case without glue holding the bottom together, etc.

It's just a matter of something in the manufacturing line running out and nobody caught it.

They will refund you or exchange it no questions asked. It's quite stress free.

Sadly this shit happens no matter the company. I worked for a company that sold games and a guy I knew took the code for Forza 7 from an Xbox One bundle that was supposed to come with the game. I'm guessing who ever bought it was out of a game.

PS4 games at least rattle around in their cases whether they've come loose or not.

This happened to me once in the past. The game was Uncharted 3, brand new (shrink wrap and all), though I bought it from Best Buy, not Amazon. I was lucky in that when I called their customer service they got in touch with the store manager who let me exchange the game for a different one, which actually did have the disc inside it. Based on other people's experiences though, it sounds like Amazon will let you do the same.

I experienced this once back when I bought Uncharted 3 for the PS3. Didn't realize it until I opened the case around 3 months after buying it so never bothered to follow up on it. If I remember correctly there were some news articles around that time about amazon trying to tighten up their warehouse security due to missing items. This is another argument for the "robots will replace humans" crowd, human temptation is too great for some people to handle, especially when they are minimum wage employees.

I've had this happen before, I remember buying a gamecube game off Amazon way back when. Shrink wrap was fine, looked completely untouched, but opened it up to find no disk. Fortunately Amazon were okay and I got a replacement. I always thought it was just a manufacturing error.

I've had this happen once, and several times the discs were improperly manufactured (usually with a melted hole or some other defect). It's rare but inevitable in the manufacturing/shipping.

I once bought a sealed 3DS XL from best buy that had a paper notepad stuffed inside the box instead of the 3ds.

It wasn't easy convincing the store manager to let me return it, luckily I noticed less than 2 hours after I left the store and he eventually budged.

I remember buying Skyrim for PC at Best Buy and the activation key was missing inside the case. They gave me a new copy. Manufacturing errors happen.

Wow ive ordered from amazon (sellers and amazon itself )bestbuy,and gamestop and that never happened,i would be pissed if that happened sorry that happened to you.

Wasn't empty, but when I bought the bluray version of Planet Earth (like ten years ago) disc 2 was an hd dvd. Took me forever to figure out why it couldn't play on my PS3.

Happened to my Little Brother copy of Dooms 2016 for the Switch. It was sealed and everything but the cart was missing.

He got a refund.

A long time ago I bought an OG 360 hard drive from Target and when I opened it I could tell it had no actual hard drive in the plastic shell. It was still sealed up in the blister packaging and everything.

I had that happen once. I remember being kind of sheepish going up to Customer Service because I was kind of worried they'd think I was just BSing them. The first person was just kind of confused but a Loss Prevention guy just told her to process the exchange.

I had to talk to a couple of guys and one guy who worked the games section said it's been happeneing a lot.

Happened to me with Warcraft 3 from Gamestop. The guy really didn't want to replace it, but he can't find any excuse since I opened the box right outside their store.
