I've been playing Mario Aces on the Switch this past week and to be curt, it leaves much to be desired. This is the first tennis game I've played since the GameCube and Dreamcast days and playing Aces had me nostalgic for Virtua Tennis. The last game I played in the series was World Tour, how has the series been since? Anyone else hope Sega brings it back?

Virtua Tennis was always my fav Tennis game. So yeah, I'd love another. The psp one was the last I really enjoyed.

Sega should probably bring back a lot of things. Though when it comes to Virtua, its safe to say that just about everything should be brought back in one way shape or form.

I absolutely love Virtua Tennis 1, 3, and 4.

Would be thrilled to see the franchise make a return.

Played Virtua Tennis alot with my dad on Dreamcast. Really good times. Sure. Why not. I'll take a new one especially when World Tour Tennis seems to be awfull and not even finnished.

Virtua Tennis was one of those sports games where I don't give a shit about the actual sport it's portraying but the games are so fun.

I have Virtua Tennis 4 on Steam, which now you can no longer buy... and yeah... these new Tennis games aren't quitting scratching that same itch.

Virtua Tennis 4 still looks and plays amazing by the way.

Virtua Tennis was the best tennis game since NES Tennis. I have the Vita version but it's not quite the same thing.

Me too.
I put a lot of time into the career mode on the Vita version (VT4).

And I don't even care about tennis, it was just a good game.

I wouldn't even care if they didn't have licensed characters, the gameplay itself was fun.

Me too. I put so much time into Virtua Tennis 3 on PSP and 4 on Xbox 360. They're such good games, especially career mode with having to manage your calendar and which events you go to, when you train yourself, etc.

And I don't even care about tennis, it was just a good game.
Same lol.

Nothing has come close to Virtua Tennis imo. And now I can't even play my copy of VT4 on steam due to that games for windows crap. Or can I? I hope there's a workaround I don't know about.

Edit: so there is a workaround and I can finally play VT4 again. Very happy!

I keep fantasizing that Sega will have a really big scale Tokyo 2020 Olympics game, with Mario & Sonic fantasy versions for Switch, and proper sports for PS4/Xbone/PC, with each discipline acting like a full fledged Sega sports game (in this case, Tennis).

Yup. The last one I played was the Vita one and it was fantastic. Would absolutely love another VT.

And whilst we are here, SEGA, Virtua Fighter 6 would be welcome too ;)

I really need to buy the Vita version.

Too bad that the tennis games, that were released this year, got so much negative feedback.

Sega should not abandon the series. There's still demand for a good tennis game.

The only way I see a new project feasible is if in VR. Otherwise, just drop a budget priced compilation of their previous VT games.

It will return eventually, there just is not much of a market for tennis games out there right now.

Virtua Tennis 4 is an absolutely astounding game, especially the brilliant and addicting World Tour mode. Pick it up if you have one of the platforms it is on. Oh! And be sure to check out the free Virtua Tennis Challenge on mobile devices. Once you figure out what controls you want (it has full controller support) it plays like a dream.

That would ironically probably cost way more than it would be to build a Virtua Tennis 5 from scratch because they would have to re-license all of the players. I am sure a few of those people are retired now too.

Virtua Tennis VR is a good idea for sure, but I think Virtua Tennis 5 can exist in today's market just fine. The games always do quite well honestly.

My first exposure to this series was 4 on Vita which I loved (before that I was a Smash Court Tennis kinda guy) so yeah, I'd definitely be down for more.

Can't see much of a market existing for tennis games at the moment though.

A port of Virtua Tennis 2 on the Switch would be enough... And I also want Virtua Striker 3, the GameCube version, on there. Make it happen SEGA!
