Good to hear! I got the After Hours Premium Edition for the 2 nice bar glasses it comes with. This is such a good series. I hope it continues to sell!

Awesome. I'm getting this after I beat Yakuza 0.

This series is such a great stress reliever. Tonight I plan on just walking around the streets of Osaka and beating the shit out of punks with Majima

Ishin and Kenzan will get localized. Book it.
Kenzan would need to be remastered first. Plus translating all the old Japanese language etc. in that game is probably a living nightmare, plus they also figure out how to tackle the
child sex slavery stuff in the plot. So... good luck with that!
. Ishin seems more plausible.

You can rest when you localize Ishin. Until then keep going at this relentless pace.

Nice. Yakuza 6 is a tremendous game.
It's not just my favorite Yakuza title of the year, but also my current goty. Was on a constant high through the entire playthrough.

I have six, already finished 0 and kiwami, working on kiwami 2. Great series but it gets a bit repetitive if you play them one after the other, having said that I can't wait to play six.

6 does enough to change up the combat and leveling systems that it shouldn't be an issue

Yeah. I fucking loved every minute of that game. I think it has the best story of the ones I've played too. I really enjoyed the pulp-soap opera feel of it. Although you could easily see what they were going for it rarely felt pastiche.

I don't want to hijack this thread, but I want to talk about the Majima chapters in Kiwami 2 and this gif is a perfect excuse:

I don't think I've ever feel both as heartbroken and happy as with the end of the Majima chapters. It's super short, but it's incredible what they accomplished with that time for Majima. I've been tempted to make a thread about it lol

Yakuza 6 will probably have very long legs in the west. I know that there are many people like myself who were introduced to the series through Yakuza 0 and are still working their way up to 6. I will not be able to get there until Yakuza 3, 4, and 5 are brought to PS4 at the earliest.

With all the negativity I heard of Yakuza 6 from Japanese players I was worried it would be one of my least favorites in the series. I was completely blown away. No game in history ever gave me such an emotional response either. If this is a 'low' then I fully expect Shin Yakuza to be my favorite game ever at this rate.

Cannot wait for the PC version to finally show up so I can see what the Dragon Engine looks like at 60fps.

Ishin and Kenzan will get localized. Book it.
Ishin? Absolutely. Kenzan? Probably not. It would need a remaster first. Personally I think it was a big disappointment on most fronts so I do not think people are missing out on much.

GREAT! I just got into the series and finished 0 yesterday. I could get Kiwami on PS4 but I want to wait for PC version to show support :D

Keep them coming SEGA

To be absolutely cynical, this performance isn't all contributed by dreams and roses.

Yakuza's Japan-only sales in the current generation has declined from its peak during PS2/PS3 days. And there's also the Asian market factor, which is currently the only market which enjoys day-and-date releases with the Japanese release of Yakuza games.

Global growth has stemmed off the decline in the series, but Yakuza is still pretty niche. If the data for 6 is accurate, the game hasn't crossed 1 million sold globally, or only just barely.

Kenzan's fan translation will hopefully be done before the end of the year, so at least it'll be playable in English if it doesn't get officially localized. I think Ishin is definitely coming over though, since they asked about in the most recent survey; when they did that with Fist of the North Star, the localization was announced not too long after.

There is the factor that 6 is exclusive on PS4, not on PS3. So that might lower the Japan sales.

However, it's still great to see this series finally getting the market respect it deserves!

Being a PS4 only user, is 0 enough to jump in and play 6?
0 gots less to do with 6 then any other game in the main series. You'd be better off just jumping in with 6 to be honest. Early on theres a short recap with some of the major main characters and events from 1-5. I played 1-4 and hopped to 6 while missing 5 no problem for instance. Thats just how the series goes. No one game really leads directly into the next. 6 being the end of the Kiryu/Haruka saga does mean you're catching 'em at the end of their growth but thats whatevs cause its still a real fun game on its own.

Was the first one I bought and played. Finished it and enjoyed my time with it. May check out 0 at some point, very unlikely I will go through them all though.

6 does a lot at the beginning to explain the important characters and story elements, but you're still coming in at the tail end of two characters' arcs. Personally I would suggest at least playing Kiwami 1 first, as it represents the beginning of those arcs and 6's story actually mirror's Kiwami 1's. If you end up not liking Kiwami 1 that much, I'd say at least watch a recap video of it.

There are some who said this day would never come, but it indeed has!

Crazy to think that just 5 years ago I and many other Yakuza fans had basically given up faith...

Sure, there are a few examples, but the home console market overall has declined.

There aren't just few examples, there's actually many. The console market declining is irrelevant to the fact that Yakuza is declining because of the own series and it's yearly releases which is a particularity of the franchise compared to others. If consoles weren't in that situation, the series would be seeing a decline in the same way.

Sure, that's likely. Part of the reason 0 sold more than 6 was because it release on PS3, so it's a combination of factors.

Oh man. I remember this! 4PP put me on to so many games back during the PS3/360 era.
Yeah, I watched a lot of them back in the day. I stopped watching 4PP (or 4PN as they're now called) like, 5 years ago. Some of the old members were assholes and outright homophobic and shit but they all left, but Brad's bad attitude remained and was just really off-putting. I wonder if he's calmed down now considering he just had a kid? It's crazy 4PP was like one of the top channels back in the Justin.tv/Early Twitch days and now they average 100 viewers or less every time I check em out.

Im shocked that Zero doesn't have that honor, considering that it must be the most popular game here in the West, while 6 wasn't received with the same critical acclaim

Nope. Not going by murmerings from both UK and USA sales:
https://www.dualshockers.com/god-war-yakuza-6-biggest-uk-launch-history/
(talks about 6 being the best in the series sales wise in the UK launch wise)

https://www.resetera.com/posts/8246262/
Zhuge (and Matt NPD on previous pages) mention how the series continues to grow with 6.

Probably because many people got turned onto the series with 0 and that helped propel 6's sales further. Plus it can't hurt that 6 is the first game on the new engine. Aesthetically it looks better than the older games and has a few QOL features that I've seen people really appreciate (no loading between stores, actual physics in fights and on the map, much better graphical touches, texturing, lighting, auto saving etc.)
