Trump denies that he ever said he'd donate $1 million to charity if she took a DNA test and it showed she had Native American ancestry. The quote: "I will give you a million dollars to your favorite charity, paid for by Trump, if you take the test and it shows you're an Indian"

This is exactly why democrats need to stop acting like the sky is falling every five seconds. This was a good way to get ahead of the narrative IF she does decide to run in 2020, and call Trump on his bullshit. She never claimed how much ancestry she had, just that she had Native American ancestry in her family tree. That's it. This affirms that.

The video she released makes a lot better argument then just the results.

I do disagree with her releasing the test results before the midterms.

This is amazing honestly. Finally someone actually talking about the plight of Natives instead of just mocking it.

Also, people saying it's too low to mention should watch the video. Looks like she grew up in the life, and while with was the OK white Cherokee life, she still is more aware of the issues than most.

Trump fucking over a charity yet again. What a surprise. He stole from cancer kids ffs, and he once claimed he had paid millions to veterans charities then it turned out he hadn't paid a dime, and now he's refusing to pay the $1M he said he would. He is the worst human being. Not only that, he brags constantly about how much money he has (which ironically, $413M was gifted to him), yet he refuses to give even a single dollar to charity.

Here is his promise to pay up, the first couple of minutes is him attacking her background and then his promise to pay. As usual, he denies what he is on video and audio record doing.

That quote doesn't sound like he said it with "paid for by Trump." Did Trump himself ever make that claim?

Trump is gonna eat her alive
If this is all it takes to for people to turn on a candidate that we know with near subatomic precision would be orders of magnitude better than Trump for the nation and the world, then there's no one who would fare any better. Because the problem isn't with the candidate it's with a citizenry who has apparently lost almost all ability to vote in its best interests and now actively enables the kind of vicious double standard that people like Trump rely on.

This story (in a broad sense, and in response to Warren doing this) should obviously be denigrating Trump for not keeping his word.

Instead, in this version of America, it's about how Warren looks weak for confirming she told the truth.

I find some of the reactions in this thread bizarre. She's using a popular right-wing narrative as an opportunity to call out Republicans on their casual racism, go in-depth on her family background, and create the space for some pretty good PR. Like, this is a pretty good campaign video:

If political trolls are going to claim you've lied about your ancestry to advance your career, you may as well have fun with it.

Also, if you happen to be interested in your president being a decent person, the transparency she's showcased here doesn't hurt her case at all.

I don't really have a problem with her taking this angle, but I wish we could get through midterms before people start running for president.

Yeah honestly the video should be in the OP so people can see the hand she's actually playing. Calling Trump on his bullshit. It's not like she just did a press release and proudly announced the results.

Good. Get this out of the way. It takes away a huge talking point, and gets the stupid mockery out of the way. Even the Pod Save America guys said she should've done it to just shut me up, or else it would've been frequently brought up to no end

Dems need to be much more guarded. You got Michelle raving about Bush, Hillary saying what Bill did wasn't an abuse of power and now Warren foolishly publicly announcing she has a minuscule native heritage. Midterms are close and Trump commits unforced errors all the time all Dem notables have to do is chill out and they got this. I don't know if it's a hubris or what but they seem overconfident and are making plays and statements that don't need to be made imo.

She put up, and didn't try to conceal the results when they weren't in her favor. Not really seeing the problem here. I like her more now.

Hmm after reading more of the thread Im actually feeling better about her getting ahead of this

Hell of a risk but maybe ultimately a good play

It's not going to work. I'm willing to bet that Republicans bring this stuff back up around election season. I really wish she didn't release this.

I want to note that the only reason this spin works is because of the Globe's headline. It's weaponized under the assumption that most people aren't going to read past this tweet.

Because the actual test results, to a Trump supporter, basically validate Trump calling her out. Fully expect this going forward:

"It seems lying Warren is not even close to be called Pocahontas! Sad and pathetic! 1/512 might as well mean I am Native American too."

(Granted, they were already doing this and were going to do it anyway, but the ammo doesn't help.)

This has to be the most chicken little political thread I have ever been in. Here is a news flash for you Trump is goin to attack whomever runs against him. Stop acting like his attacks are going to stick with democractic voters instead of energizing them.

I say good on her for defending herself, she should have done this sooner.

Some of yall bedwet more than anyone lol.

Honestly. She should get ahead of it. It's something she claimed and it's something Trump continually mocks her for. Trump started birtherism and his base STILL doesn't believe Obama was born here even after proof.

She can use this as a way to run on transparency. Which she is already doing actually.

Trump's out would be that 1/32 isn't enough to get recognized as native American (I think) with the tribe her ancestor said she was from. Doubt Trump even thinks about that though, and just refuses it ever happened, fake news, etc.

Trump doesn't let facts get in the way of a good personal attack. Debunking the basis for his attacks have no effect. Warren is too earnest. She would not get enough 2016 Trump voters to switch.

I think it was a good idea to get out ahead of the 2020 election and do it now. I doubt people will care once midterms get here and this should at least stop the talk about her ancestry from the left (it won't stop the right) She isn't my first choice but I don't get the hate for this. Either she gets made fun of for not taking a DNA test or she takes a DNA test, gets made fun of, and gets to call out Trump for lying about the $1 million. The slightly better of two bad options

In my opinion, this just played into Trumps hands, Trump is a troll, in the worst thing you can do to a Troll is to play his game on trying to disprove his words, She is feeding the Troll, The only people who cared about this was the same people who will vote for Trump and follow Trump no matter what, and coming up with the result saying that she is 1/35th native american is just an invitation on getting ridiculed even further by the Trolls. Trump threw some shit in the air, Warren caught it, and when Warren came and show Trump here is your shit, Trump is saying I dont care about that.

At the end the only thing that this is doing is (only judging by some responses here) is just get a "Why?" response from the people who might actually vote for you.

Of course Trump won't do this and these results aren't even to appease him or his base. It's to get ahead if she decides to run. IT's going to come up get it out and let Americans digest and shit it out now. They won't care by Wednesday.

And like the tweet implies. Run on Transparency. We all say dems suck at messaging. Here's a chance for them to try and control it.

Calling him on his bullshit has no effect sadly:(

Trump is a troll yes. But he's going to make up or say shit regardless. This test really wasn't to appease him. It's to get ahead of the issues if she runs in 2020. Because it'll come up. It's something she claimed. and if she refused a test that creates more doubt in all voters minds.

Yeah, he can easily get out of that.
1. In that video, he's talking about a hypothetical situation.
2. He can say 1/32 isn't considered Indian and with people (mainly white) claiming that they're Asian, black, etc becuase they're "1/16th" being the butt of jokes for almost a decade now, this can hurt Warren.
This is important as well
