This game is going to be huge. Blackout will continue to grow the userbase.

And yea it's clear SP was never the driving force behind these games. While at times they had good set pieces they are unforgettable. I'd rather them spend the money, time, energy etc. into shoring up the modes that keep people around.

Meanwhile, here in South America I'm sitting in a lobby with 13 people waiting for Blackout =/

What about physical, I wonder

Is double the sales on PC impressive? Feel like PC sales were already nothing to write home about

It's a good start anyway. PC games often have longer legs and this game may get better traction than previous entries so we might see stronger legs than CoD has previously shown.

I guess we won't get SP anymore.

I'm fine with this. Games like CoD were all about the MP anyway. SP games that are built around the SP experience are still selling big numbers and that's what matters.

Turns out Battle Royale is a pretty big deal.

I fucking HATED the MP beta but was still tempted to get the game for Blackout, but I don't want to drop $60 on just that so I'll wait.

If you asked me "are you getting the new cod" a month or two back.. i woulda probably laughed at you... but after trying out blackout.. i'm impressed at how fun it is. First COD I've purchased since MW2. Glad to see its doing well!

While it didn't kill sales, it doesn't seem to have really helped much. A little bit double the sales isn't exactly that much considering how badly it usually does on PC

This makes no sense at all. Doubling sales, keeping all the money, growing your platform and keeping some of your customers away from a competitor is a great result.

So no more SP COD probably?
Probably not since the next COD has already been in development for years. But I'm sure Treyarch is done making SP in their CODs and thank christ for that. I rather have a package like this then that 5 hr trash hand holding exp they've had the past several years. Just go the overwatch and siege route please.

Them cheap WoW tokens are putting in work.

I can buy like 5-6 copies of the game with how cheap the market is right now.

Don't forget they keep 30% more profit on top of doubling sales at launch so I'm sure they are very happy with the results.

It will be interesting to watch engagement numbers over time on PC but even if they sold 29% less than on steam for PC it's a win profit wise which is all public companies care about.

Not shocked on PS4 data as this game has brought out people who haven't been playing the series as of late because of the new approach. Was shocked to have quite a few friends who barely play on console these days ask about or mention playing the game.

I don't know if it counts, but I got it on PC (first CoD ever on PC for me) but I got a physical cooy/code in a box. Really enjoying it so far. I hope it keeps it's playerbase high

I wonder what the Xbox One Store best performer is if it's only Activisions. And I wonder if RDR2 will break that on both.

It's surprising since they dropped the campaign and made Zombies/Battle Royale a focus.

I sold my copy, but am going to borrow it from the library sometime soon to see how it is. I don't like Zombies, and have never had much interest in Battle Royale, whereas the campaigns were my favourite part.

Battle.net is really huge, especially in Asia where the Cod brand is not a thing but with the BR mode has potential to do fine in this market, and the crossover with the Blizzard audience will only help the game.

Yup, playing it digitally. Actually really fun from the few matches I've played.

The power of making another Battle Royale game. Thought the cow would be almost empty at this point but it seems like it's still half full. Crazy.

"How can we make COD interesting again and revive it?"

"Make another BR clone out of it"

And it really f'n worked, what does this say about us?

"revive it" as if it ever went away. where does this narrative even come from when its continually debunked every year?

Blackout is fun and there is room for another BR game. It is a new genre and not going anywhere.

Do you call every FPS a Doom clone, and every platformer a Mario clone?

Completely honest question here:

I love the Switch as much as anyone else, I own one. However, why do people think that a game NOT being on the Switch automatically just makes the game "dead" or "hurt the game" etc? Or generate that sort of thought about a game not being on Switch
A lot of fans seem to think that a Switch version is mandatory for success.

The original Call of Duty sold itself on the cinematic intensity of its campaign. People have been having this argument since GoldenEye. GE's singleplayer is the major part of the game, the focus of development, but a lot of people will insist it was "all about the MP".

Ultimately though, the biggest games tend to have popular MP. People act as though Red Dead Redemption 2's singleplayer is its sole selling poing, but as with GTA V, its MP will be the long term sales driver.

It's like how Squadron 42 is the real purpose of Star Citizen, a spiritual successor to the singleplayer Wing Commander, but the MP component will ultimately make more money than the SP.

Sony is gonna make a killing just off ps plus subs for this game.

The marketing deal is probably worth every penny.

From streams I've seen most people are playing the battle royale and not the standard multiplayer. I wonder what the monthly active numbers will eventually show.

Wow that's amazing, cod was getting so stale and it was time for a change. Blackout was very fun when I played it, I'm waiting for a price drop since I'm not really into the other modes.
