Sony should make Venom before the Spider-Man sequel (Mild Spoilers)

Would love to see a Venom game, no need to tie it into the movie(s) and it can be set in the same universe as the Spider-Man game.

Clearly audiences give no fucks about Spider-Man being in a Venom movie so it stands to reason they wouldn't care about Spider-Man not being in a Venom game either.

I think a Venom game has a lot of potential and it definitely adds a whole bunch of morality choices that Spider-Man would never have.

They probably don't have the license to do a solo Venom game, plus
they're clearly building up to him as the big bad in the next game with a twisted Harry

It's more likely that we'd get Venom as a playable character in a future Spider-Man game like in Ultimate Spider-Man. Though, I'm sure Insomniac is much more committed to doing Miles than Venom right now.

Wow people can be rude sometimes huh, why do we have to reply to people like that? There was no reason for that.

I for one would love a Venom game,
It would certainly have a nice array of melee abilities that's for sure.

I don't agree. Remember, Peter has to get the symbiotic first. It's his costume. I think in game 2 Norman will be the big bad as the green goblin and Peter will get the alien costume and use it most of the game. Then at/near the end he discovers it's a symbiote and gets rid of it. Spider-Man fights he GG, the goblin dies, somthe suit bonds with a bitter Harry and he's the enemy in Spider-Man 3. Or they introduce Eddie Brock in 2 and he becomes Venom in 3. It would be cool too if this could lead to the Hobgoblin appearing in 3. Hobby isn't nearly well-represented enough in video games. The freaking Shocker is in more games than he is.

Edit - sorry, I think I quoted you in error.

They've all been very clear that a sequel is on the way. My guess would be that there will be a sequel in about 3 years with the symbiotes as the villains, then the third game will feature Norman Green Goblin to round off the trilogy.

I'd be up for him as one of the villains in the sequel, but as a protagonist? Hell no.

Why would Peter need the symbiote first? Did you even complete the game? Harry has the symbiote as a result of experimentation to try and reverse his illness. After that teaser I don't think they're going to go straight to Norman Goblin as the villain in the sequel.

This game made me feel like Venom.

The story also made a lot more sense if you've read the comics.

Insomniac created a great base to build upon.
A Venom spin-off blow my mind and would be great before Spider-Man 2.

Because that's why the symbiote looks the way it does. It's a version of Spider-Man's costume. It also is better story telling as it connects two beings who both have seperate histories and problems with Spider-Man.

What's there to tag? I don't reference anything from how the game ended. It's all speculation and built mainly on my familiarity with the comics. I mean, I'm happy to tag it, but I don't see where I spoiled anything.

Doesn't mean they have to go that route. They're already taking liberties with some of the characters and doing things way different than the comics.

I don't know how you get it to look like it does without it being Peters costume first. And with all the suits they let you play as, I can't believe they won't have Peter wear the black costume. I'd be shocked if Peter doesn't start out with the costume, so you have to allow time for that and so it would make sense for Venom to be in game 3.

This is clearly a different take on the character. The personal stakes will come from it being Peter's best friend who has unwittingly become a monstrous villain, and Norman who is himself embroiled in the creation of at least two supervillians and creating tech that will eventually end up being used for the Goblin. Maybe the symbiote will look different to the comics version, or maybe it will emulate Spidey's look because it covets his power or something. I wouldn't be surprised if visually it looks like black webs wrapped around Harry and it copies the Spider symbol on the front/back because its power too comes from Spiders.

The thing is we don't know how Insomniac will make Venom look. For all we know Harry will start out with the suit with a new look and then after a fight or something it transfers over to Peter.

I hate Venom so much. I know he's mandatory and I trust Insomniac to do something smart and meaningful with the character, but that 90s edgy shit really be killing my Spider-Man vibes.

Venom doesn't need his own game. He can be playable in a Spider-Man sequel.

There's tons of other Marvel characters who deserve games before Venom. Black Panther, Iron Man, Thor, Cap, Dr Strange, Daredevil, Moon Knight, etc

I don't think it'll happen. Marvel won't give up more of their IPs than necessary. The Spider-Man games will stay with Sony, but don't expect spin-offs based on other characters. There is a rumor that Sony intends to produce a Kraven movie which will take back Spider-Man from the MCU. If that actually happens, the chance of a Venom game will drop even lower. There needs to be goodwill between business partners after all. Sony burning bridges on the movie side will affect this partnership as well. Of course, we don't know whether that will actually happen. Even so, Marvel will likely just play it safe and only allow Sony to use one of their IPs at a time.
