If anyone here is reviewing the game on Xbox and wants to play online please message me. I've been having a tough time finding anyone to spar with and test online with.

Could you check if you are able to choose created characters or costumes made for Sc characters in ranked?

Would really appreciate it.

Just a thought. In the ranked matches of the network test, every character had a "style" listed. It wouldn't make sense if it was only for official characters.

He's literally Goku but a jobber.
Because spunky young good guy is so unique to Goku and hasn't been a trope/cliche since long before him in several forms.
So you gonna tell me a sea of broody dudes, multiple pairs of tits on broody sticks, and Raphael are full of personality? Soul Calibur is full of edgelord's and horny fantasies, a happy go lucky dude is a ray of sunshine in this series.

The closest OG Soul Cal got to fun non-edgy characters is like maybe Talim? And Hilde(Who should have been a fuckingh lock for 6 goddammit)
So in other words, he has no redeeming qualities?
Unlike Goku, his official art looks aesthetically not horrendous

What's with the weird hate boner for fun/spunky dudes, everyone gets so uppity about Talim when every non-appearance con against him you could say for her too lmao

Not everything needs to be an edgefest

I believe he had moves from both.
He was meant to be the character that Kilik/Mina players could transition to.
Ah, gotcha. I admittedly know little about Mina, since Xiba was the first and only time I ever really used a staff character.

Also, lol, was looking at the Mina entry on the wiki and

It's always nice to see other wiki's have editors who get weirdly opinion-police-y.

Ive never really thought of what I wanted from a guest character, huh

I guess my dream pick would be Pyramid Head to rise from the corpse pit beneath the pachinko mines, he'd have a really interesting moveset and fit in decently well. Nothing about particularly conflicts with the fantasy setting.

Reasonable choice would probably go to Eileen the Crow(in the hypothetical of exclusives), Kaine from Nier 1(Who is the best character in the franchise imho), or Asura.

I need a fist/gauntlet moveset god dammit. Was Devil Jin a fist moveset? I really want SOMETHING. Voldo's claws are neat but there's nothing as rad as power gauntlets.

I guess we're going to ignore the obsession with food, the bo staff, and, you know, being a blatant rip-off of Sun Wukong.
We need a viking so fucking bad. He can even think some crazy shit like he's the re-incarnation of Thor and use Mjolner as his weapon.

Why the fuck is the first Scandinavian in fighters since Lars yet another edgy one-time plot device with almost negative relation to Scandinavia?

Instead of having Tekken guests, we should just get a canon Mishima ancestor or something like that so we finally have a consistent barefist style.

.
Yeah, sun wukong is rad as hell and Goku wastes that inspiration completely

And both of those things also come from Sun Wukong. Goku is literally just a bad sun wukong ripoff that forgets its a sun wukong rip off.

I love Sun-Wukong-characters that aren't Goku. Especially when they use actual Chinese influences more.

Give me monkey kid Xiba over his boring dad, Kilik, any day everyday.
Thank god.... im not alone....

Console exclusive guests aren't going to happen on the season pass. No Killer Instinct dudes, Bloodborn hunters, Kratos Part II or the like.

Xiba is munching on his entire personality in his character art. The dude's death scream was literally an agonized "food". 'Broody' or not, the previous characters were at least able to present the illusion of having dimension.

And my second favorite fighter in the series is Yoshimitsu, so don't come at me about hating fun personalities. Hell, I even liked Yun-seong for his youthful energy, endlessly retreaded story aside.

Yeah, as much as SC is a weapons fighter, having just one fist-fighter is very useful for creation. That's one of the reasons I'd like to see Olcadan return as a pugilist type. They could say something like after mastering all styles, Olcadan came to the conclusion that his own fists were the ultimate weapon. Or--what I think would endear mimics to mimic-haters without abandoning their roots--give each of them a unique style while still allowing them to select mimicry before a battle, similar to how CaS's in SoulCalibur III could select from up to five different fighting styles.

Their edgy "is" the illusion of dimension, which isn't an illusion anymore. There always needs to be comedic relief anyway, and a boy liking food is more relateable than, say undead pirates, titty ninjas, and Samurai Man #7.

And yeah, a Monk archetype character is the only thing missing for me. If they HAVE to have a weapon, just go for Gauntlets/Brass Knuckles/whatever

Yang Xiao Long would honestly be rad, if the art styles didnt clash disastrously

The Xiba we got is bad because he's rushed and underdevelloped. Give him a good character model, differentiate his fighting style from Kilik's with even more acrobatic moves and give him something to do in the story. SC 5 cut the story for 90% of the cast, and it looks like the model for Xiba was straight from CaS.

For the joyfull, not edgy and not objectified character, I'm good with Xiangua. And I even prefered Leixia, as her playstyle is more simple and direct than X. I'll miss her, her stage and her theme the most from V!

I'm with you too, though I'm reluctant to voice those opinions because of how loathed he is lol. The two games in the series I'm most familiar with are 2 and 5, so I've grown attached to a lot of the newer cast. Xiba, ZWEI and though from SC4 I guess Hilde are all great newer characters that I'd love to see return.

Though I 100% get why they're doing it, I'm a little disappointed by how close the SC6 cast sticks to the veterans. I hope the game does well enough to get multiple season passes so that some of the 4/5 cast have a chance to get in.

Are you serious or have you not looked closely at the original art?

No underboob here. And of course, she got a better costume in the sequel, which the new game is based on in terms of its timeline:

403

Why would they not base her costume in this game on this one? (Rhetorical question)

Sieg is the only male wearing less clothing than before, while every female but Taki is showing more skin. And even Taki's outfit is now vacuum sealed to her tits instead of just fitting like normal fabric like SC1.

Yeah, it's sad. If they're gonna put a lot of fan service in the game then at least make it equal. And don't @ me with stupid comments on how you can customise the characters. The default presentation matters. There's a sexist power imbalance there. SCV did not have this issue.

Still... ugh... I'm now reminded how much better the character design was in SCI.

Heck, even Ivy's got normal body proportions while still being voluptuous.

Xiba to me is the best example of the art absolutely shitting on the character model. Xiba's art is great, but his in game model looks like something I could knock up in Create a Soul

I kinda want Zwei. So long as his damage isn't fuck all again. Always felt like a handicap picking him even though he was fun to play.

ZWEI's damage was fine. I could take 50% as long as I had meter. His only issue was the fact that Ein was predictable. If you saw ZWEI do 4[A] you already knew what Ein attack was coming. If you could mix up the Ein attacks, ZWEI would've been a lot stronger.

True but the charge up stuff for Nightmare just adds to an already good moveset, it's an enhancement but arguably not the core "pillar" of the character's design.

i dunno, I could just be asking for something that's very difficult to pull off but considering how 2D-esque the series is anyway, I think this could be a cool thing.

The problem with a charge-based character that carries over the benefits of the charge from round to round is that it's really hard to balance.

If you can get the full charge quickly (within the first round), then what's the point? If it takes awhile to get the charge, then you end up with an underwhelming character for the first round or two, or a ridiculously overpowered character for the last round or two.

Would make an interesting Soul Charge. Ability to choose the Ein follow up to an attack from Zwei.

The problem is Zwei relies on Ein for damage(His dagger attacks just shave off health) and Ein is predictable. Or at least that was my experience. He was FAR FAR from my main, though.

He would need a better buff than that. That needs to be a baseline ability with SC just making it stronger.

ZWEI is a stand character, so a lot of his damage should come from Ein. The issue, as we've both stated now, is that Ein was too predictable. Correct that issue and I think ZWEI would've been fine.

As he was, I still made it almost all the way through my Evo 2012 bracket in winners. It wasn't until winner's finals that I had to switch to Yoshi to win.
