This will sound weird but hear me out... Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

If you look beyond the childish backlash, it has one of the best COD campaigns, genuinely. The multiplayer was fast and fluid and it had a great visual style. Can't speak for the zombies beacuse I don't play it but yeah, it was a really fun game squashed because Call of Duty diehards don't like space shit. I love space shit.

Sunset Overdrive didn't deserve its death.

One and done. Absolutely the first game I thought of.

This is also a great pick. Honestly a top notch sci-fi military campaign and nobody fucking played it. It's a damn shame and now we'll never see anything like it again.

Until Dawn reviewed well and got praise but I think many ppl might have overlooked it. It is a great game and enjoyed every second of it.

Victor Vran seems quite unloved - even the Switch release came and went with no fanfair! Admittedly, it has some glaring shortcomings, but the satisfying combat and fun loot system saved what would otherwise be just an average isometric ARPG to me.

I guess I'm partly to blame too having only picked it up in a Steam sale this year. :\

The Evil Within 2. Just a brilliant game and a joy to play. Satisfying mechanics and a wealth of meaningful content.

Close behind is Sunset Overdrive, Alien: Isolation, and Watch Dogs 2. Throw in AC: Syndicate because it was the first AC game that finally clicked for me - improvements to stealth, traversal, and the amazing Victorian setting all came too late and Ubi scrapped the formula and everyone calls it "bad" without ever explaining how.

Also, reading this thread has made me realize how much I naturally gravitate towards the "unloved" games and remember them way more fondly than some of the bigger sellers.

It's Piranha Bytes, so naturally, kind of niche, but it's the kind of RPG that you get lost in as you run for your fucking life from a mutant chicken.

You have also get a jetpack early on.

boy is it rough but bound by flame was at least fun
Spiders puts out some great stuff, even if they refuse to evolve past their maze like map design.

I was looking at this recently as it's on Game Pass. Is it a puzzler similar to BOXBOY!...?

I didn't play BOXBOY, so I can't say for sure. Sorry.

It's a colour based puzzle game where you earn new colours as you go along and need to use them to move boxes and create routes. My description makes it sound boring, but it really isn't, and I don't like most puzzle games I play.

I liked this one so much I went for a second play through on a different device.

It sounds actually super similar to BOXBOY!, minus the colors, since it's all about moving/creating boxes to create routes. Sort of like Pushmo (another wonderful game) but in 2D. So I imagine you might like BOXBOY! as well. I will definitely be sure to check out Hue soon, thanks for the info!

Sunset Overdrive.

I have no clue how the hell the game didn't do well; I can only assume the marketing for it was just the worst thing ever or something... I know that youtube guy they had was a bit cringy. Anyone with an Xbox that hasn't at least tried the game, wtf is wrong with you? I don't wanna hear any derp about "I don't like the comedy... merp" as if not buying a game based completely not on gameplay isn't the most absurd shit ever.

Honestly, the Xbox community disappointed me there big time.

The Hex (Pony Island follow up) and Broken Reality also come out this month and look great, but will probably be overshadowed completely.

If the WiiU is current gen?

WTF is the switch?!

Here, duh.
How many people completely missed out on The Mummy Demastered? Considering that, like, six people bought it, I'm guessing a lot of them.

Which is strange, because the Metroidvania (Christ, I hate that term) genre is popular, Wayforward has a bunch of fans, and the game is solid as fuck, with an incredible soundtrack.

Serious response: Watchdogs 2 since it seems like it didn't sell well enough for franchise continuation

Snarky response: Bloodborne by those that don't own PS4's

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun

I am a huge fan of stealth games, and growing up, Commandos used to be my favorite franchise. Spent 1000s of hours into it. Then for over a decade, i couldn't find anything close to Commandos, but fortunately, i stumbled upon Shadow Tactics.

The game looked exactly like the old-school games that i used to love, so i bought it instantly. And it was the best decision i ever made. Not only does it scratches my itch for Commandos and Stealth game, it also improves upon everything that the old games did.

As i progressed in the game, i realized that this is going down in my game of the generation list. gameplay is smooth as hell, stealth is brilliantly implemented, the amount of options to approach the objective are endless, and the OST is top notch.

If you liked old-school Commandos, Desperados or Age of Empires, i urge you to give Shadow Tactics a shot, it goes on sale quite often and can be bought for around $15. So, you won't be paying a lot, and you will be getting one of the best stealth games available on the current-gen.

Kirby Rainbow Curse / Rainbow Paintbrush. Best game I've played in 2015. Very creative, quite challenging to 100%. But yeah, it's Kirby, it's on WiiU, and it's a touch screen-only game.

I might go with SOMA, though I don't know how well it did. Feels like at release a lot of talk was about how annoying having to avoid monsters was but they "fixed" that with an optional safe mode. May have turned off a few people at the time.

Astro Bot.

Even though it was just recently released it is obvious that it won't sell great. Without hyperbole it is one of the best platformers I've ever played and it's sad that only such a small number of people will experience it.

Almost all Vita games :(
Glad most of them getting a warm welcome on Switch, but games like Soul Sacrifice Delta seem to be stuck forever. Such a good game...

Also I just love Unit 13 on the Vita. It's really great and has great replayability.

Alienation
For me it has to be The Evil Within 2 and Gravity Rush 2, which are both sequels that I absolutely loved playing through, and I don't really see that many people talk about them.
All great choices. I am so proud of this board. :D

Mine would be... Tearaway (Vita+Unfolded), Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth and Gravity Rush 2 (despite its many but not detrimental issues)

Thanks for the write-up. It sounds right up my alley. I've never even heard of it, to be honest. I'll definetly check it out.

Rainbow Six Siege. Many people don't know what makes it so special. Everyone needs to play at least a few hours of Siege in their life.

Sunset Overdrive.

Honestly, the Xbox community disappointed me there big time.

Honestly, Sunset Overdrive was released on the wrong console, even though it is well documented that Sony declined to do so because Insomniac wanted to keep the IP for themselves, which unfortunately didn't quite work out for them.

Speaking of yet another game that was released on the wrong console with its oft receptive audience; D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die.

Again, the Kinect stuff wasn't necessary, even if it did somewhat elevate the experience however, I believe the game only sold something in the region of 3,000+ digital copies before D4 was made available as part of Games With Gold the following year, but it was just simply too late by this point...

I bought both Sunset Overdrive and D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die at full price upon release, but even back then, I openly thought that they were both on the wrong console. A shame.

Not sure if this counts, but I feel that Horizon: The Frozen Wilds was very overlooked due to releasing too late after the game's hype decreased. Gameplay-wise it's just more of the same, but the storytelling is excellent.

Titanfall 2 comes to mind. Though honestly at this point I feel like it's become the default answer for these sorts of questions, so in actuality loads of people know it's good nowadays.

Transformers devastation has been the best character action released so far outside of ports and remasters.

I put it up there with MG:R, Nier and Bayonetta as one of Platinums best work.

There was alot of hate on it because on the surface it looked like a cheap tie in game like Korra (which wasnt as bad as people made out) and because its was transformers.

But it has deep character action roots and a deep combat system.

Yeah i agree, it was hurt by its budget, but it played great and was a child's dream come true... i thought a sequel would come with more robots and bigger budget to get more level variety/cut the repetitiveness but... nope :(

Divinity Original Sin - Enhanced Edition.

A joyride of CRPG.
Gameplay is fun.
Music is masterful.
A lot of plot twist.
The humor is unique.

In a generation where a spotlight has been shone on many lower profile but high quality games I'm surprised that Digimon: Cyber Sleuth didn't receive more attention, it's the monster collector and battler many always wanted on a home console.

Another vote for Transformers Devastation, it was a legit game.

It was clearly a game done on a strick budget, but the combat engine is probably one of the Platinum's best.

That's not exactly an overlooked game, the game was highly successful.

Similarly, it's a damn shame Advanced Warfare 2 had to make way for jumping back onto the historical war bandwagon.

Oh yeah, this game deserved much more attention. It's criminal that it's now gone from download stores.
