Eh, with my brother and some friends we're going to celebrate this by playing some Deep Madness, and there will be some fighting over who gets to play as Not-Isaac Clarke:

To this day, Dead Space 3 has the worst crafting I've ever seen in a game. Learning how to play Europa Universalis 4 was easier than navigating the incoherent mess of crafting in DS3; what was supposedly meant to be an action game, not an RPG that demand you spend 30 minutes at a fucking crafting station while monsters are on the loose.

Damnit this thread is reminding me of that horrible game. Must think of DS1. Think happy thoughts. Happy thoughts!

Somewhere.
I love Dead Space, and Dead Space 2 even more. Despite some pacing issues, it was really cool to explore the Ishimura and encounter the horrors that lurks in it. It is too bad that this series has fallen, and this sadly includes DS2, where it ended up being such a expansive game to make, that it under performed despite selling 4 million copies. Maybe one day a revival will happen, but I am happy for the two awesome games that came out from it least. Don't know when or if I will get around to Dead Space 3.

And jeez, Mirror's Edge will also be turning 10 years old soon.

Dead Space thought me there is no such as a safe saving zone.

One of the best horror games, both in mechanics, visual and sound design. The silence of space, the clanking and creaking of metal and those monsters running around was terrifying.

Game was amazing.

If EA was smart, we'd get a Remastered Collection of the trilogy (plus Extraction... Hell, throw in the iOS game too. It was legit).

Got 100% in the first game, but never could get through the "three saves only" difficulty of DS2 or the "die and you restart" challenge of DS3.

I'm amazed we haven't seen a remaster of at least the first. It wasn't a gangbuster franchise, but it's always regarded fondly and would probably sell a couple million if they played their cards right.

I remember I was on the gametrailers forums back then. They'd release these really cool Dev diaries about the Ishimura's design, Isaac's suit, the sound design, etc... And I was over the moon with it. Game comes out, next thing I know, I splurged on a pair of Sennheiser HD650 and dove right in.

Masterful atmosphere.

I remember buying Dead Space and Mirror's Edge on the very same day!

A shame that both games declined after the first one, even if I did enjoy Dead Space 2 in parts.

Outside of the superb ship graveyard (in space), Dead Space 3 was not only below average, but it singlehandedly killed the series. I couldn't believe how big a drop in quality it suffered from the second game; so much so, it elevated my opinion of the sequel higher than before.

The DLC add-on was bonkers in all the wrong ways, from the piss-poor story to reusing the same assets in the main game albeit in a different atmosphere.

A shame we won't be seeing this series return anytime soon...

I still remember coming home from work one Friday night and booting it up

I'd be all over a remaster as well. I disagree with the poster who said it hasn't aged well.

It's still great. As is 2.

What a damn classic. Incredible atmosphere and the dismemberment mechanics added a level of tension and strategy to the gunplay never before seen in a horror shooter.

Damn near had a panic attack when I first encountered the unkillable necromorph.

Oh shit, the stomp.

When you're out of ammo and desperately mashing the shoulder button while shouting "FUCKING DIE" at your TV screen, you know the game has got you.

amazed? EA basically had a "no remasters" policy, this year's Burnout Paradise being sort of a miracle exception. Dead Space is dead to them.

You had to stomp literally every single corpse in the game. Just to be sure. Hilarious.

I also loved that one save point where you got ambushed lol. You knew it was coming at some point.

My most vivid memory of Dead Space is hearing a thumping sound down a corridor, and when you round a corner you see a random person headbutting a wall then slumping down dead.

Classic game.

Coincidentally started playing this for the first time last week. I'd heard it was good but it's actually exceeded my expectations. Only a few chapters in and I'm already questioning why I haven't played it sooner. Really excellent game so far.

OTS TPS horror game? Lol why should I give a shit the sequel to RE4 is coming out soon.

Yay RE5 is finally out! Wait, this co-op shit is ruining everything. What a fucking disappointment coming off the GOAT. Fine I guess I'll give that Dead Space thing a go.

Oh hey this is a really good game!

First two games were so good. And I even liked DS3 for what it's worth. Hopefully this series gets rebooted or restarted somewhere down the line.

I loved 1, not sure about 2, would have to play it again to tell, 3 was the weakest to me.

Dead Space 1 and 2 were friggin' fantastic! I so would want a proper remake (a la RE2 Remake?!). I know it's not going to happen what with EA's no-remaster rule, but one can dream.

DS2 was the best one out of the lot, sad that one game (DS3) killed it. It became dudebro shooter McHorror for some reason, which smelled like a suits decision.

Dead Space 2 was better. Fight me, it really was.

And it has one of the most memorable scenes in all of gaming. That's right, all of gaming.
You won't even need to look in the spoiler, you already know what I'm talking about lol

Stick a needle in your... :O

ugh, this franchise could've been so much more. Could've joined The Greats with Silent Hill and Resident Evil as an established horror franchise.
But no, EA had to destroy it

I'm hoping it goes on sale on Xbox Live soon. I never finished it and want to play it for Halloween.

I have it on Steam but would rather play it on Xbox One.

Every Halloween, I'm tempted to boot it up and go "THIS is the playthrough I get the Foam Fingergun".

... I can never spare the time, my nerves always get to me, and I never go through with it.

One of my top 3 favorite games of last gen. My proudest moment is getting the impossible difficulty, asteroid shooting, and one gun achievement in a single run. Probably the only game on 360 that I played through five times with how fun it is. Second game was also really good but lost some of the fear that the first game had until that one chapter later in the game. Dead Space: Extraction is also heavily underrated and I would buy the hell out of a remaster on the Switch or PSVR.

A shame the series died because of chasing microtransactions and focus-testing. I'd settle for a remake on PS5 at the least, even if we don't get a sequel ever.
