Venom's Friday to Friday drop was pretty good. It will have a shot at a sub 60% drop this weekend, depending on today's bump.

I'm happy everyone who likes it is getting more. I truly mean this.

But personally, EVIL WINS.

It's too bad that Sony hasn't been bothering to update the international gross this past week.

My guess is that Venom will be in the $350-375M range worldwide after this weekend.

A final total around $200M domestic and $500M+ worldwide (not counting whatever China makes, since the film hasn't been confirmed there last I checked) is looking probable.

Awesome to see Venom do well. Not that it's great but damn it was fun, way better than Suicide Squad which feels like the nearest thing to compare it to. Nice to see general audiences like the movie too.

Hopefully we get Silver and Black now.

Enjoyed Venom. Feel like maybe critics are a bit too harsh when it comes to anything non Marvel related in the comic book movie universe.

Was it amazing? Nah but it was definitely fun which is really all I wanted out of a Venom film. Theatre was also packed. Bring on the sequel.

It's been two days since I saw Venom and I still have that hilarious Eminem rap stick in my head, haha.

"Venon, venom..."

I feel like he just stars in movies that make meager amounts, but not quite flops. First man should be fine.

Plus he's in a lot of good shit.

He arguably has one of the best film careers right now tbh. If hes in a movie nowadays its prolly gonna be pretty damn good. I think hes also aware hes not signing up for the big money movies

I wasnt really following the marketing for First Man or wasnt particularly hyped for it but what a damn good film. Possibly Chazelles best and should be seen on IMAX if given the opportunity. Hope the director, actors and composer get nominated. They all deserve it

It's forbidden to like this movie
Its not forbidden to like this movie and its not forbidden to shit on it either.

You can enjoy it, think its a fun film while others can think its a steaming pile that the character deserve better than.

People are going to do both, its fine.

I am surprised that you haven't already received replies pointing out Logan, Deadpool and Wonder Woman.

I'm trying to say that critics rate Marvel films way too high. Majority of them are so mediocre that I find it hard to believe they have such good reviews (Dr strange, ant man, GOTG 2, etc).

I think that people misinterpret RT ratings, having a high RT doesn't mean that your movie is amazing, it just means that few people actively dislike it. Movies that win awards are generally more divisive than well made popcorn flicks.

Rotten Tomatoes is a binary rating. If a vast majority of critics think a movie is pretty decent, it gets 90%. If a vast majority of critics think a movie's incredible, it gets 90%.

It's just your opinion and only yours. That is not the consensus.

And do you know how RT% works?
Yeah I know the only rating they really advertise is the one that says amount of critics gave the films a favorable review whereas you have to actually look under that score to see the real score of the film. It's pretty annoying.

And I know it's my opinion, where did I state it wasn't? Do you know how opinions work?

That's what I'm asking from you. You are saying other people are wrong in their opinions and you're right.

Wow opinions differ from person to person? Incredible.

Nowhere did I say they are wrong and I am right. I said I FEEL like that's the way it is. No one is right or wrong in this case. I just happen to disagree with some of the critics when it comes to superhero films.

Gosling is not a draw. He's an alright actor but large number of people don't really go watch a film to see him.
Gosling is a draw he's just the type of actor that fights against it. A good number of people go see Gosling movies in the hopes they get Notebook, Crazy stupid love meme version of him.

Saw Venom this week, actually liked it a lot.

The first like 30 mins are bad, but once the Hardy-Venom bromance begins the movie is a lot of fun.

I really hope they make a sequel and I don't feel like they need to include Spider-Man in it at all.

I think the movie could have been stronger if cut the first part and backpadded it or interwove the segments leading to the symbiot. The opening (Eddie stuff) is the worst material in the movie, but the solo Eddie stuff that comes after is legitimately well made and acted. To me that stuff with Eddie just prior to when the bromance starts really good and what they should have more or less started with.

Yea, the movie feels like it could've been all around great with a few changes.

Hardy basically carries the movie and saves it, but there was a lot of potential there for the rest of the film.

Venom was alright. Overall it was pretty generic, boiler plate comic/action movie stuff, and as such the overall arc was super predictable, but I can see why audiences are liking it. The Venom/Brock dynamic is pretty funny and interesting at times. If anything, Riz Ahmed and Tom Hardy's performances were probably the more disappointing parts. Ahmed had nothing interesting to work with and felt like he could do this role in his sleep. Hardy has this tendency to do this bizarre American accent (same with The Take) that makes him sound, well, not so bright to say the least. Eddie came across way too stupid to be this hot shot journalist.

A Venom movie could conceivably outgross Justice League.
