Teen titans but everyone except Raven is in their twenties. Dick going full on Jason Todd but leaves the child abuser alive just cause. Starfire snapping a dude's neck for no reason. Dick spilling his issues with Batman in his second conversation with detective lady who he blew off at first was so out of fucking place. Still watching but already a train wreck.

Just watched it. This is actually surprisingly legit. Explains why it has an 80%+. Was not expecting that. But I'm expecting the usual "Meh too dark" shit from people, blah blah blah, etc..

I agree with others here however. I wanted to see more so they really should have released at least 2 or 3 episodes at once instead of just one. Considering I want to see more and was disappointed it ended, that's a good sign for the future. I'm seeing similar reactions from people who are seeing it. Looks like all the hate prior was just the usual bickering the internet loves doing.

No people expect the characters and properties to be done justice and not made overly dark and edgy because some suit thinks DC needs to differentiate from Marvel while ignoring what made people like their characters in the first place.

That's funny because the original Teen Titans comic is "grimdark" by your own definition so in your regard, they are doing justice with the overly dark and edgy tone. Teen Titans was made more light-hearted with the cartoon series but the comic books were never like that. So I disagree, the "overly dark" and usual nonsense people spew is still dumb as it always has been so looks like nothing has changed. Both DC and Marvel have dark material, but somethings lend better to one side over the other. For example, Daredevil's tone and execution is excellent. This is a good take and is actually well representative of the comic books, at least so far. I'm down with it.

Reminds me of Watchmen actually. It's definitely more mature and gritty than the Arrowverse and even Daredevil, but it's somewhere along the lines of Watchmen. That's the vibe I got.

I watched with zero expectation and the tone was great than CW's shitshows. Grayson and Rachel's story is going to an interesting place that makes the show watchable. I don't know if it was the Titans, but instead of other horrible characters, I could have liked it if the story was about only these two.

I'm surprised by how much I enjoyed this. Might be the best DCU thing yet, after maybe Flash S01 apart from the REAL bad Flash episodes.

I still haven't activated my DC Universe account because there's no way for me to watch on TV yet

Whoa, didn't realize this was actually starting so soon. Definitely not subscribing til this and maybe a few other of the original series have ended their runs though.

Really enjoyed the premiere.

The "fuck Batman" bit was even more out of place than the trailer made me think, but the rest of the episode was really solid. Raven is perfectly cast, and all of her scenes were really good. I liked how her relationship with Dick was played out over the course of the episode. The tone is definitely dark, but there are some really great comedic moments mixed in, and I really enjoyed how moody and atmospheric the episode was.

I'll need to see more of exactly where they're taking Kory's character, but I'm open to seeing where it goes with her. On the whole, I think it was a really enjoyable star to the show.

And it's the same creative team behind said CW DC shows... but without the restrictions of network tv like the CW

I wouldn't say it's a good show, but it's not boring. I'm tired of the slow burn all the Netflix Marvel shows want to do. This is just quick intros and powers taken at face value. If it keeps up momentum it'll be pretty entertaining.

The good :

- I would totally watch a tv show about Dick as a detective

The bad :

Everything else

The even worst :

Fuck batman has the worst timing ever
What the flying fuck are they trying to do with Starfire ?

Anna Diop still deserves a better wig...

I didn't realize how much was set in Michigan, thought Dick was just in Detroit.

It's kind of weird to think about but Sherilyn Fenn, who played Rachel's frumpy mom, is one of the hottest women ever seen on TV. Audrey Horne jump-started puberty for a whole generation of boys back in the day...

So... it is JUST the first episode people are talking here?

So again, Pilots are not good indicators of a show's quality or direction... even if you liked it... too early to say if this show is whatever

Starfire's storyline is a jumbled up mess and the dialogue ranged from bland to super corny, but with an emotional core like Raven and emo ass Dick Grayson (hope they knock him out of this), I can see why people enjoyed it.

I'm out though, until the show has a sharper direction and more interesting character work.

I just realized that DC has like 3 different shows about the Titans....

Titans (live action), Teen Titans GO!, and Young Justice.... and possibly a continuation of the original Teen Titans animated series. Can we get some more JLU? Or maybe just something different?

Maybe don't put a CGI tiger in a show with a constrained budget lmao.

The actress who played Raven was baaaaaad.

Also I'm shocked Clint Mansell was a composer on this show. The music here sounded like generic filler music you'd hear on a CW cape show.

This dude turned into a tiger to steal an xbox game lol

It wasn't perfect, but I'm interested in checking out more of the episodes. Wish they had just dumped them all.

As someone who has never watched or read a Titans comic, I thought this shit was fucking awesome. My only complaint was how visually dark it looked. Genuinely want to binge the entire season now.

This is actually watchable compared to the garbage on The CW. Like yeah this show is kinda wack, but it's a far cry from the straight up disaster I was expecting it to be. Starfire seems like she's going to be the highlight of this show.

Netflix just does the international distribution, just like they did with Fargo and Better Call Saul, which means they release the episode on the same schedule as the US provider they license it from.

I really wish there was a second episode to get a better feel for it all.

Like for all the trailer talk and reviews, didn't find it all that edgy or grimdark or violent as people claim. Like this seems like a Dick who trained under Arkham series Batman.

We get teases of the story, but the characters spend so little time together we don't get the flow or chemistry of the series. I guess I'll see next week.

Right now not sure what to make of it.
