Is there anywhere I can return a game without a receipt? I've heard Wal-Mart but does the original purchase need to originate from there?

I believe Best Buy has your information on record if you have an account.

What do you mean by returning to Walmart, did you buy it from another Walmart?

Lmao no. You can trade in a game back at Gamestop, but they're only giving you the trade in value. Only hope you have is if it's a store that keeps digital records of receipts.

If the game SKU exists in Wal-Mart's system, they'll take it. You aren't getting cash though and they'll probably need a form of ID to ensure you don't do this often.

I worked at GS for a few years--we did returns w/ no receipt if we could find a record of your transaction, and only then. That could either be bc you used your account at any location or bc we could look up the purchase in our personal store's records.

I don't think anyone is going to be willing to take a return for a game you never purchased from them. But I could be wrong I guess.

If it's sealed you should be able to go into any Walmart or Target and get a store credit.

Should be able to do Walmart with no receipt as long as Walmart sells it and it's unopened. They usually take your license info because in receipt returns are limited per person.

This does kinda sound shady, though.

Target doesn't require a receipt if you bought it with your debit/credit card...maybe.

HOWEVER,

This sounds suspect as hell without providing more info.

This thread is doomed to look shady even if more info is supplied now lol

OP, you need to explain, because this sounds shady. Why are you looking for stores to return games without a receipt?

This isn't that shady guys. My kids have received birthday gifts for games they didn't want. Usually you can take it back to Target/Wal-Mart and return it for in store credit. They will ask for your drivers license info and keep a record and there is a limit to how much $$$ you can get returned to in-store credit in a year.

If you do not have a receipt or gift receipt, you will most likely only get store credit or the ability to switch it out with the same game but a different copy if the game is open.

You shouldn't have a problem at Walmart or Target. Just tell them you got it as a gift and don't have a receipt. They'll probably give you store credit or something.

Also, who cares if it's shady? These are multi million dollar corporations who could give two shits about any of their customers and only look at the bottom dollar.

Go for it OP.

Edit: Unless it's stolen, then you suck OP.

Stores like target and Walmart will return something for store credit using your ID and no receipt. BUT they do keep track of this stuff and if you're being shady you will lose that ability. If you didn't buy it there or it wasn't bought there don't do it just sell it yourself.

Sounds like the OP got a game he doesn't want for a present or something.
Let's hope it's this and not OP withholding basic set up because he stole it or knows it's stolen and wants to get rid of it fast for as much money as possible.

Because starting with "I got a game as a present I don't want and want to return it but don't have the receipt what do" would have cleared any suspicion

I got a game as a gift and don't want to ask for the receipt or where they got it because they would know I'm returning it. I'm fine with store credit I just want to use the funds for a full price game to buy a game I actually want.

Walmart lets you do it, but if it's an item over 25 bucks then they'll just give you store credit/gift card
