Wonder if this will convince anyone who believed WB has Gunn working on a secret Secret Six movie

https://deadline.com/2018/10/secret...e-cbs-pilot-production-commitment-1202480562/

Don't see why this developing series and what James Gunn are working on couldn't be developed concurrently. Also, the well-known Gail Simone-penned Secret Six series is only one incarnation of the team, and I'm not sure if CBS would be the right place to introduce someone of Ragdoll's flexibility and personality in a new show.

Because that never happens with WB/DC

You heard anything on that recently?

And the Supergirl show has been going on for years, it isn't being developed at the same time as the proposed movie.

That's actually one of the more recent films in development right now. They're just working on a script at the moment and looking at directors IIRC. Last story I heard was probably a few weeks ago, maybe a month? So yeah, the film's still a thing for now.

In regards to Suicide Squad 2, I think it would be best if it wasn't a complete reboot/recast. Viola Davis still plays Amanda Waller. The original Suicide Squad team has been disbanded. Now there is a new team assembled. Harley and Deadshot will have small roles but not major plotlines. Some of the other original SS members may appear. The tone is completely different. The plot is not related to the original one and while it may use some characters that have been in other DC films. It will not be directly related to any other movie.

Also as an aside, since A Star is Born Lady Gaga has been receiving a lot of different scripts and proposals. She is rumored to be looking over the Birds of Prey script right now. I'm curious what character she could play. The one that I think would work best for her is Poison Ivy.

I swear if Snyder gets Ray mixed up in his Fountainhead bullshit I will never forgive him.

And I want Gerard McMurray for Cyborg solo of we ever get one

What was the reason they ended up using in the released movie? They wanted information from the scientists or something, because ???

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/h...-an-idea-deathstroke-may-never-happen-1151599

That vicious streak made him a candidate for the Warner Bros. and DC's Deathstroke standalone movie, though there's been no news of Evans' potential attachment since word spread in 2017. "I had a phone call a long time ago about it, I had a follow-up call where I spoke to Joe [Manganiello] about it, and really nothing else since," he says, adding with a laugh, "I saw an awful lot of reporting on it! I saw a lot of articles. But I think wherever the articles came from, they know more about it than I do to be perfectly blunt."

Funny how the trades often seem to know more about films in production than the folks making them. ("Dude, if you hear anything, let me know!" Evans cracks.) And yet Evans' treatment of Deathstroke sounds promising, to hear him speak about it: "It was an opportunity for me to do something different from what's out there at the moment," as he puts it. Different is good. Different, in this case, is "quite lean, quite mean in that way, and be something that wasn't afraid to go to some pretty dark places, because that character has some pretty dark history about him," Evans rattles off. He talks about the framework of Korean noir films, something hard-edged, unforgiving, and free of bloat. If you can picture The Raid but with Manganiello kicking ass instead of Iko Uwais, you've got the basic outline of how Evans' Deathstroke might look if the project actually moves ahead.

Someone at WB, make the damn call.

Sounds promising, but I'd prefer they focus on the current slate before trying to add on more
I'd give up pretty much everything down the road to ensure that Evans' Deathstroke happens. This is one of those properties where the director might just get to do whatever he wants... You can place Deathstroke into the big picture later.

Not much going on with the current slate anyway. Everything's still just developing for the most part.

Well.... good thing to you lol.

And if it's not based on Rebirth Deathstroke he can keep it.

I mean... God forbid we stop chasing mediocrity like Gunn, and push for something that would actually be really cool.

The Raid movies are incredible.

From the sounds of things, it wouldn't interrupt the other projects at all. It'd end up being a lower to mid-budget movie, likely with an R-rating. We've seen how there's success to be made in that space. Could be a ~$50M budget movie and it'd easily be profitable.

I will accept NO Raid 2 slander

Astonishing film

We would be BLESSED to have Evans direct a CBM.

Edit - I am so damn excited for Shazam guys, honestly. I really feel it'll be the next household name in terms of superheroes.

I didn't really care for The Raid. The action was fine, I guess. But it was pretty boring overall. But I'd be down for a superhero movie by the Raid guy. Sounds good to me!

Exactly... On top of that, a Deathstroke story could have absolutely nothing to do with the greater universe.

Putting Evans on this is the perfect opportunity for the DCEU to regain some identity. Deathstroke could offer something completely different from everything else that's going on right now.

A Deathstroke movie with Raid style action seems like an obvious choice to make, but I think people in Hollywood tend to use that movie title more as a buzzword style descriptor rather than an actual high bar for quality action because it's not trivial to aspire to that level. The Russos said the same thing when they were working on Winter Soldier, but that movie's fight scenes, while cool, don't hold a candle to the Raid's action. Hollywood productions don't usually hire actors that can really do that stuff, or if they do, they don't give them enough time to make it look as good.

I think the initial villain for Suicide Squad 2 was Black Mask. Which makes kinda sense. Now he is in Birds of Prey, and o'Connor didn't like that and dropped it. So we have Gunn now, who can use Deathstroke as either member or villain.

I think that's the benefit of doing it with a character like Deathstroke. For one, he's wearing a full face mask when things get real. Joe M has the physicality to do choreography, as evidenced in the exceptional works Magic Mike and Magic Mike XXL. But you can have a stuntperson for the intensive action sequences. Then there's who Deathstroke is and his style. He's enhanced (unclear in the DCEU) but a grounded fighter, mixing martial arts and weaponry, no real regard for who he hurts or kills to get the job done. And Deathstroke isn't the most commercially viable character that you'd put a $150M+ budget movie on his back like a Captain America. Scale wise it'd be a lot closer to a John Wick or Atomic Blonde and Gareth Evans can do something really special within that space.
