I loved the first season but I was still surprised that scene after scene of this had something shocking, entertaining or funny. I'm used to most of these CW superhero show coasting for the majority of their runtime. Such a good premiere.
Just finished the first episode. Top to bottom a fantastic return. Lots of drama, tons of pieces still in motion, bunch of mysteries to solve.
That was probably a mistake, yeah. The Flash premiere was actually really good, but BL still ran circles around it.
Yeah, was thinking of that movie the moment his name came up in the credits at the beginning of the ep since I hadn't realized he was in now.
The corrupt church/preacher angle. I could see them doing that pretty easily. Honestly it crossed my mind that not all that money is going to end up being used the way it should. The money in this episode and whoever else she gives money to. That will be part of the consequences Anissa is going have to face. Cause she'll have the preacher saying one thing in church and perhaps to her but she'll know the truth because she's the one that stole the money.

Oh yeah, I remember somebody in Luke Cage saying that too, but that was a white guy. I see her ending her relationship with her friend soon.
Fantastic first episode! I really love Anissa in this. The jumping out the body bag reminded me of that comic where only black people got superpowers.
She seems like a really bad friend in general, even in season 1. Isn't she Henderson's daughter? Probably some more drama coming out of that too.

So I finally got around to watching the season premiere. In the year of our lord 2018 we got Robert Fucking Townsend. Love that this show started woke and is staying even more woke. This is show is ready to takeover Agents of SHIELD as my favorite show as it's just so fucking good. I love how this episode was great without much Black Lightning at all.
Motherfuckers been on that shit since I was 5 lol. Anyone who grew up in the Black church definitely heard that.

Y'know, it kinda does. If we didn't have the scene of Jeff telling Lynn a few minutes later, it would really be out of place.
I'm glad they did it though. What a smart move pulling the mask off already.
For a moment I thought that Issa kid was gonna be their Virgil/Static but that was only because of his hair and then remembering Static isn't planned to show up... Yet.

Holy shit this episode was amazing. Having Henderson connect the dots in a natural way without it being spelled out for him was incredible. You just don't see shows do that. It's always one thing that tips a person off about identities or they just blab it out. In this show they have Henderson naturally work it out.
I wish more shows did this. Because the tells are always there. Ex. Flash is always there for metas and Barry is missing. Ect.
Also the message was clear in this episode. I'm white but I found the message very effective when the whole damn church took their guns out.

During the newscast at the beginning I just kinda stared at the screen in shock. They are pulling ZERO punches.
