This team needs a hitter or two to slot in that have high avg. It also needs one more very good rotation pitcher. After that, back to work. Still a good season, but there's no more lowered expectations for these young Yanks.

You think the Yankees need... More offense??

Interesting. I would take half that production on the other side of town, thanks.

People really think Cashman is going to fire Boone?

Why, of course. Most first year managers who win 100 games in a rebuilding season are given the ax. Duh.

Here come the Boston is racist takes. I swear some of y'all never heard of Dorchester, Mattapan, Roxbury etc. Latino and black Bostonians exist, fyi!
Have lived in Dot my whole life.

I'm sure there are some racists, I worked in Southie for a few months and never had an issue but always heard things. But never understood why places like LA or down south get the same treatment.

I don't think they need more offense, inasmuch as I think they need to make the offense they have more multifaceted and sustainable.

1 or 2 OBP/contact bats would mean that those times where the team has stretches of leaving RISP would be less likely to happen - especially in the playoffs where those crap starters and relievers are probably not gonna be there. To be honest, the parts for that are probably already on the team if they modify their approach a bit.

The correct answer is he should, but you need to give Francesa something to talk about.
I think a lot of people are really taking away from what the Red Sox accomplished this year. Is it a disappointment that they followed up a season where they lost out on the WS by a game with an ALDS exit? Sure, but going against a 108 is tough.

I said this before, short of making the World Series, the Yankees failed their objective this season. I'm also not one to put a ton of stake in the manager, but there are clear indicators when someone is subpar to the minimal objectives with a stacked team.

Maybe he exceeds expectations next season. As of right now he is a hindrance to the team.

Taking off work and heading over to Houston for (hopefully) all three ALCS games over there. Have never seen a Red Sox game in person so I'm pretty hype.

I'd say he's on a short leash but has at least one more year to improve. Cashman firing him after one season would make him look bad - not sure if he cares, but Boone was his guy.

Kershaw's starting game 1 for the Dodgers and it sounds like Chachin is the rumored starter for Milwaukee. Hopefully Milwaukee can jump out to an early lead so that we can get to our bullpen as fast as possible.

Stanton is fine. He had a poor series, but he was never going to be the dependable Jeter like player in the postseason. He is going to be Arod. Which means he is going to be terrible in most postseasons but will get hot at least once and will win you a world series that year. He pretty much carried the yankees for a good 5 weeks while Judge was out only to fall into a slump after those 5 weeks. My brother pointed out how he played like 150 or so games straight. he is a big guy and needs some rest days. DHing isnt enough. you need to give him the entire day off.

I have to agree with michael kay here. how you dont take out CC and Severino early on is beyond me. this is not your average season game. And bringing in Lance fucking Lynn instead of betances or other relief pitchers? Come on. Look at Alex Cora, brought in Chris Sale to get to his closer because he knows his bullpen is shit. Boone's bullpen is amazing.

Also, and Kay didnt talk about this, but i have been saying this the whole year, the lineup is all wrong. You cant have Judge hitting at second. He needs to be hitting 3rd or cleanup. It's crazy how often Judge came up with no one on. And I get it, Torres and Gardner were basically his leadoff guys in the 9th hole but then why did Judge always appear to be starting an inning? i would love to get some numbers here.

Not starting Andujar was weird. He was your best hitter all year. his defense is shoddy but he won you dozens of games with his offense. Torres was the most clutch hitter in their lineup and he was hitting 9th. I get the idea that you need your entire lineup to be potent from top to bottom, but you cant have your Judges and Stantons hit with no one on.

I say start Torres, then Andujar at 2nd then judge and Stanton. screw the lefty righty balance. Stanton, Judge and Sanchez need to hit back to back to back to make sure pitchers dont pitch around them. Stanton isnt as selective as Judge so have him hit in front of judge to make sure he gets more pitches to hit. dont have freaking didi or hicks following them. they are decent hitters at best.

As good as Voit was, it was pretty obvious they had found him out by the end of the series. He is a great hitter and will be a great asset but he should be hitting behind proven guys like Judge, Stanton and Sanchez.

I am not asking for Boone to get fired or Stanton to get traded. Boone did put his faith in Andujar and Torres early on in the season and deserves to be commended for that. Going with Luke voit when he got hot instead of wasting at bats on Bird was also a good decision.

What if I told you that Jeter and ARod have nearly identical postseason OPS?

Hoping for a Brewers and Astros final, based on who's left. There is one player on each team I dislike though. That makes it hard to really cheer for them.

With half the sample size. Also 0.016 points of extra OPS with twice the reps is pretty significant. Especially when the guy with the advantage is mostly a contact hitter vs a guy who has nearly 3 times as many career homeruns.

While this is true, my point wasn't to make a direct comparison, it was that one of those guys' has the perception of being "clutch" while the other has the perception of being a "choker" to a lot of people, when their actual postseason production doesn't tell that story, and perception is not always reality.
