I just realized that Nolan whitewashing Bane and there being no backlash is the missing piece of the puzzle for why Venom had a diverse opening; people must think that Tom Hardy is Latino. That's the most logical explanation.

A five word tweet inspires a page long article, which in turn inspires a three page long thread. The internet, man...

True, could just mention that the other prisoners are doing something else, or that they need a slightly different team.

It works. But I want to see blood and destruction :D
One of the things I dislike most about modern superhero films is the villains being killed off. Sorry.

my real world is a third world country where our children could use heroes and kick ass characters to represent them on screen, give them a bit of hope, something to aspire to and a break from the shit reality that they live in. how about yours? you sound mighty priviliged and im surprised this kind of dismissal of diversity concerns is kosher in this forum.

its complicated, but fact of the matter is Bane is Latino, so Bautista having a drop of spanish blood means jack shit. at that point might as well cast a spaniard in the role.
Latino is not a race

lmao

this is so ridiculous that it somehow manages to be charming, and I appreciate it

also, as a Latino who has always found Tom Hardy to be one of the most ambiguous individuals of all time (to this day, I'm not 100% what he actually looks or sounds like in normal day to day life), in addition to being super ridiculous, the "people mistook Tom Hardy for Latino" idea also makes a weird amount of sense

Weirdly enough, Hardy said he based Bane's speaking voice on his Caribbean origins.

Just do a GI:JOE-style intro where the whole team from SS gets wiped out, Amanda calls a new team, done. You get stakes AND a new team.

Okay, maybe Harley survives.

He's definitely a chameleon to the point where it took me having to see him in multiple films to even start to recognize him and figure out it's all the same guy. In that way, he's like Gary Oldman in that it took me years to even realize how many different roles he's played in films I've seen. If Hardy wasn't one of the most sought after actors and was just a character actor playing smaller supporting roles, I probably still wouldn't know who he was.

Bane and give him a fucking wrestling mask. I don't care if people think it looks dumb. Just give it to him, it'll work.

Me standing up in circle of seated people: "Hi, my name's Dan and I'm here tonight to admit to something terrible.....................I quite liked Jai Courtney in Suicide Squad."
He wasn't bad. I just figured they'd keep the two biggest stars then add some more to make the cast more appealing to the general public. Honestly, I wouldn't mind if they kept everyone. Gunn could make all of them better characters.

I definitely don't want them to keep everyone. I like the Squad as a revolving roster of minor villains.

Personally? If I had everything my way? I'd keep Deadshot, Harley Quinn, and Boomerang, and bring on Black Manta (after being defeated in Aquaman), Killer Frost, and Bane.

I cant answer you straight, or otherwise il get another warning, but il say this, you dont know anything about my or where i come from, so dont play the third world card buddy, but i do know that your concept of representation, its particular, to say the least,so, keep fighting over superhero casting.

If you're getting warned it's for a reason, buddy. Stop shitposting and dismissing my concerns over latino rep. They're completely valid, this isn't 2005 anymore.

Y'all do realize that DC's problem isn't the writers/directors/actors, right?

No, seriously. You guys do not understand how perfect the relationship between Bane and Scandal is and how much I would pay to see Bautista in that role. Entirely platonic, deeply loving, and yeah, Bane is a bit paternalistic, but he is literally trying to be father to her because her dad is shit and he knows what that's like. She ignores him when she wants to and appreciates it in the moments she could use a dad.

I need that movie.

Manta would be cool. Now I do hope that they don't kill him like most villains. From the trailer it seems like he may be more of a "hired gun" anyways. That one dude with the same powers as Aquaman seems like the real bad guy.

I doubt Manta is a hired gun. I'm guessing he's the impetus for Ocean Master (Aquaman's brother) wanting war with the main land. Manta's ambition is to take over Atlantis in the name of black people.
