Fringilla is a major love interest for Geralt.

Henry stands out so much for me lol, he is just way way way more handsome than everyone else.

I don't give a shit what they look like, as long as the best performing people who applied got the job.

But they do all look good.

ITT people basing their knowledge of the Witcher characters ages off Witcher 3.

Ciri was like 16 at the end of the books.

A quick google suggests the actress playing Yen is 22ish. This series should have been a coup for numerous roles for women over 30, but Hollywood gonna Hollywood.

Hmm, Chalotra looks a bit "meek" to play Yen. But if she can act the part, that's more important than looking it based on not-in-character shots.

She does seem a bit too young though...

So based on the casting...does the show take place before the events of the first Witcher game? Seems to me like it would, looking at these characters.

Yen looks too young IMHO. The actress is 22 it seems. Why do they need to cast so young?
Because that's how Yen looks like in the books. This is not gonna adapt TW3.

EDIT: To clarify, I mean what she looks like in terms of age.

For Christ's sake, the books have all the sorceresses deaging themselves til they look like they're on their early 20s. Ciri is a kid in the books. A bunch of the female characters cast are also teenagers on the books. This is not meant to be an adaptation of TW3.

I think that's how she suppose to look like that age in the books

I'm just gonna find it hard to look at someone who barely looks older than a teenager being imperious and prickly like Yen, is the main issue. Maybe she'll nail it, but I was definitely thinking someone more in the Katie McGrath dimension than this based on my experiences with the character in writing and in the games.

Netflix posted this image on Facebook in my country:

Good choices IMO, although Ciri and Yennefer look like they're in the same grade.
And I guess someone must have read the whole thing after all, since it looks like they've come to the only proper conclusion and decided to adapt the short stories.
you ain't got one brotha in there

Games take place chronologically after the end of the main novels. Some years later if I recall plus the time in-game that passes by.

This takes place somewhere around the books (assume the beginning)

It's Netflix, so expect a lot of smaller actors overall. This is not going to have a GOT budget.
I didn't expect it to have the same budget as GoT, but look at the cast of another Netflix show like House of Cards. I guess it's probably gonna be more expensive to shoot this as opposed to something like House of Cards, and I'm not against using more unknown actors I just thought this was a bigger deal for Netflix.

I never got that impression. I remember that among the witches, Keira and Triss are the ones who are specifically described as looking youthful compared to the others. It'd be kinda hard to make that distinction when Yennefer already looks that young.

Geralt doesn't exactly look "age appropriate" for all the young women he sleeps with in the games. He's a sinewy old man.

If you shwed me this picture
DpJyEDRW0AMW5he.jpg

and told me that the first man is in love with the second girl, I'd think it's an underage sexual assault story.
I'm sure she will look older though.
How old is she anyway?

Yeah, Anya looks way too young for Cavill. According to a quick search, she's 22 and he's 35. I know Yen is basically ageless and stuff but it's gonna look super awkward for a 22 year old that still looks like a teenager to be in a romantic relationship with an grizzled old man with grey hair.

That's what I was hoping for as well. Yennefer looking like she's in her late 30s would still be an amazing feat of magickery, instead it's gonna be a show about 40-90-year-olds who look younger the older they got.

Isnt Geralt and Yennifer supposed to be father and mother figures for Ciri?

That would be a weird thing considering Yen would look like almost she is just a couple of years older than young Ciri.

"And the rebellious Renfri sets incredible events into motion".
Goddamn, they're going to do this in the pilot, aren't they?
Hype.

I've read the books. Where is she described as looking like a 20y/o? I don't remember that, but I could be wrong.

I know the sorceresses de-age themselves and "fix" physical deformities with magic. But Yennefer is old, regardless of how she looks. I could be wrong - we'll see once the show hits - but I didn't imagine someone with Yennefer's standing, experience and power looking like she's barely out of her teens.

They both look super, super young for the roles, especially if they're playing the same age that is portrayed in the games.

Yen always seemed like someone who could keep Geralt in check, who in many ways was more aggressive and stern. Their choice seems way too meek for that character, but who knows. For now I'll assume she nailed the audition.
