Looks pretty faithful.

Now watch them screw it up anyways.

Man that book freaked me out. None of the actually Sematary stuff but the flashbacks to the wife's disabled sister.. probably the thing that's stayed with me the most out of all his stuff.

Is the book actually scary? I've seen the older adaptation and it was pretty dumb.

Hands down King's scariest novel IMO. This trailer seems very promising so far to me.

Depends on what hits your "scary bone." King considers Pet Sematary to be his scariest novel and I agree with him. Maybe not his outright best, but definitely the scariest.

I'll watch it for Lithgow. Original movie kind of sucks, so its not like they're defiling a classic or anything. Fred Gwynne's performance is really the only reason to watch it.

Looks like a totally generic horror movie rushed out to capitalise on It's success.

I suspect 34% RT, bombs at the box office and is quickly forgotten about.

Really? I never would have guessed after reading it

I mean, I don't think it's necessarily his best (though it's up there). There's other books out there I probably like a little bit more due to the cast of characters being a bit stronger than the ones in Pet Sematary. But the central ideas and themes of that book, as well as how King has them all play out in the end, hit in an unusually brutal way- even by King's standards.

How is it being rushed out? It doesn't release till next year

And most of the recent King adaptations have been quite faithful and generally decent to great. IT, Gerald's Game, 1922, Castle Rock, 11/22/63

18 months after It is a pretty speedy turnaround. I hope it's good, but this trailer doesn't give me much faith, especially considering the creatives involved.

Hope it's good, trailer feels like it's using lot of the tried haunted house Conjuring style scares though.

I'm good....not in the mood to see that scene again, this time more violently with today's visuals and sound effects.

You know the scene, they hinted to it in the trailer.

"Sometimes dead is better", just doesn't have that same oomph to it compared to Fred Gwynne's Jud. Not sure on this one after that trailer, the little kids in "creepy" masks slamming doors...seems a bit meh. It looks nice though, I'll give it that.

I haven't read the book, only seen the 1989 film and this looks pretty different from that. Is this deviating from the source material or was it the 1989 film that was unfaithful?

Friend of mine told me she had a hard time reading the book, since she had to take so many breaks, because she was legit scared, haha

That's awesome. I need to check it out. The scariest book I ever read was actually The Ritual, from which the recent Netflix film was based. It was actually just a smaller section of the book that freaked me out, but for whatever reason it worked.

Well, take it with a grain of salt, she's a huge coward, I've never read it...
That's why I love watching horror movies or playing horror games with her, her fear is infectious, plus you never know when she'll just scream at nothing and give you a minor heart attack.
Really good times, we played Amnesia, Silent Hill 2, 3 and Shattered Memories, SOMA, Outlast, Penumbra...

Would you, in turn, recommend The Ritual?

This looks better than the first movie, which was mostly awful, but it still doesn't look great. The imagery feels pretty uninspired and I'm not a fan of the "creepy kids in masks!" motif they're leaning on.

Besides the Exorcist, Pet Semetary was the that unique movie that could scare younger me. This was primarily due to Pascow and Zelda. I found the recent Gerald's Game and 1922 to be okay, so I'll give this a shot, why not.

I scrolled through this thread very slowly and carefully in case someone had posted pics of Zelda from the original movie.

I love how the whole family was all like "omg such a spooky truck - oh nos!" Lol

Yea that was so dumb.

You guys aren't parents, are you? They're not scared because they think it's a spooky truck. They're scared for their kids because the road is right up on them, the trees block most of the view so there's barely any warning when traffic is going by until it's on you, and that truck went barreling past. I'd clutch my toddler too if that was near my new place.
